Fair warning: I know a lot of people hate this ep with the fire of a thousand suns and all (though it doesn't even compare to some of the awfulness we got in S4, does it?!), but I can get pretty defensive about it. It's a LEE ep, after all, and he's my boy! While I agree with everyone else that the whole thing came out of left field and was poorly executed, I really like some of the ideas behind it, as well as what it revealed about who Lee was and had been. What can I say? Screwed-up Lee is hot! And I'd say the fic for this ep backs me up... :) Here are a few of my favorites:
Beauty and the Beast (in two parts) by
innibis (Okay, so this one is completely AU from the miniseries on. It also includes a character from Razor we've not yet been introduced to at this point in the series. But for all that, it's unquestionably a Black Market fic. I feel like this is what Black Market could have/should have been in terms of what it does for Lee's development as a complex and only too human character--with Kara actually getting to play a part, as she should have gotten to in BM. If you've already read it, you know what I mean. If you haven't, you're in for a treat.)
Secrets by
greensleeves (From what I remember, though there are only hardcore spoilers up through 2.13, the whole thing is based on speculation about Black Market.)
Scars That Words Have Carved (in nine chapters) by
rayruz (Note: this fic BEGINS around the Black Market time period, but as the story progresses, does include spoilers for later eps as well.)
Untouchable (in two parts) by
taragel (Set somewhere post-BM; Tara describes it as a sort of anti-Scar.)
Early Drafts of Surprise Endings by
wisteria_Double Dates Are the Best, Right? by
anni_erie (I am pretty sure I've already rec'd this, since it's actually set pre-mini, but I'm ridiculously fond of this little fic and it includes Gianne so...yeah.)
See? If nothing else, it cannot be denied that BM inspired some FANTASTIC fic (of which I'm sure I've only scratched the surface), whether out of love or hate.
As always, please feel free to post your own recs in the comments!
