I have had sooo much fun the past few days and have been excited to see and read everyone's contributions to the DPP.

The SitRep:

99 Bottles of Ambrosia: We're stopped at 85 and almost to the drunk and sloppy finish line. C'mon and have a bottle!
Wedding Bells: Have you check out the pilot's wedding registry at the IKEA ship? If not, you should!
Marital Bliss and an Unexpected Note: Pilots honeymooning, noise complaints, Kara in hack (again), Lee to her rescue and Papadama making sure the fleet's best assets give him some peace. Gotta read this one, folks.
It Was Only A Matter of Time: Pilots having adorable babies and a strong need for BABY!FIC. SOMEONE WRITE SOME BABY!COMMENT!FIC please!

Today, we're gonna let the cracky goodness bubble along while we think music. There have been a lot of posts related to pilots songs, but I've decided that I need a definitive No Takebacks Pilot Mixtape and I need your help to make one.

Today's assignment:
I am going to post most of the pilot scenes from Season 1 and Season 2 today (except for the ones I've forgotten!). :) I'd love for people to stop by and pick a couple of scenes and comment with song/artist or YouTube links to the song that best portrays that scene. Including snippets of lyrics would be lovely. Tomorrow I'll post scenes from S3+4+4.5 and we'll do it again. (If we can get at least 12 songs for each day, there might be an official downloadable version!!)

ETA: I''m going to cross off the scenes that have been claimed. We're getting a lot of duplicates for the big scenes and I'd love to spread the love a bit. If you absolutely must give another scene for the Scar Slap/Kiss, though,I won't object. :)

I feel like Billy Joel's "So It Goes" works well for them, that sense of scarred, tentative trust and the expectation that pursuing this will end badly but letting it go would be worse. It's so quiet and gentle and not angry at all. I'm not sure which specific scene it would work best for. I will let Shipper Nation decide:

There's something about this song that makes me think of the "I hope you find him" scene on Pegasus (LDYB). There's something resigned and sad about Lee and his small bit of hopelessness about their relationship that comes through. There are other scenes, of course, that this would fit, but that's what comes to mind.

I like this suggestion -- that verse about "my silence is my self defense" really feels like Lee in that scene. And since his silence did play a part in making her leave, he seems not to have avoided that "worst mistake" he talked about :)

If you wanted to take the song from a Kara POV, I think it might work for the moment he's walking away from her in KLG after being so awful, and she decides to risk opening up to him with an apology instead of letting him go without a word, even though she knows he will probably break her heart. (LELAND! WHAT WERE YOU THINKING IN THAT SCENE?! ** SLAPS UPSIDE HEAD **)

Unfortunately I don't listen to enough American music to think of something that fits. However, there are some Brazilian songs that make me think of pilots. So, here is a very free translation. Whenever I hear it , I think of Lee trying to make sense of his feelings for Kara. I usually associate it with a pre-UB state of mind, but I guess post-Scar would be good too.

This makes me think of Lee trying to sort out his feelings for Kara when she kisses Sam in front of him or maybe after she slaps him? It's gotta be a powerful moment that leaves him confused and wanting her. Hmmm. Can you provide a link to the brazilian version? I'd love to hear it!

The song has been recorded by many different singers. I myself prefer it when the singer's interpretation is more heartfelt, more in sync with the words, I guess. I found some old videos on YouTube. The one I liked best was this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TBOAzCvSq-Y). The video itself is terrible because it is an amateur shot taken during a show, but I love the singer's performance. I only translated a small part, near the end.
