Today: Truth, Dare, or Double Dog Dare?

Lee is in a daring mood! ;)

Rules:
- If you want to play, say “Truth” or “Dare” below in the comments.
- If you choose truth, someone gets to ask you a BSG-related question about yourself (e.g. How would you feel if in Daybreak we found out Kara and Lee were secretly married that whole time?).
- If you choose dare, someone will give you a ficlet prompt (e.g. Secret marriage).
- Choosing “Double Dog Dare” will get you a prompt to write something R to NC-17 rated. Kara's a fan of these ;)

And leave questions/prompts for other players!

Also, a quick question to see if there's enough interest to make CAH work:
[Poll #1885880]
[identity profile] embolalia.livejournal.com
Today, 20 questions! Just like when you were in the car as a little kid, I'm going to think of something and you get to guess what it is! Instead of animal/vegetable/mineral, we'll play object/scene/character.

If you didn't grow up with 20 Questions, it's pretty self-explanatory. You get to ask 20 yes/no questions and I'll answer them. You can guess what I'm thinking of at any point.

(Lee knows what you're thinking of!)

You can also (at any time, and not just if you've won!) think of something yourself and start a new comment thread that starts "See if you can guess what I'm thinking of..."

There may be prizes at the end of the week!

No! There is no way that Bristol Palin should be on Dancing with the Stars: All Stars Edition, Lee! And what do you mean, 'She got cuter'?!

Pilots are very opinionated people. So how do you think they'd weigh in on some of our current trends and pop culture manias? Would they argue passionately (requiring makeup sex, of course) or be of like minds? I'll post a few somewhat controversial current topics and trends below to get us started--feel free to add any you can think of too!

For those of you unfamiliar with Cards Against Humanity, it is Apples to Apples but with horrifying, offensive things instead of nice, polite things. If you are unfamiliar with Apples to Apples as well, here's a synopsis of the rules:

- Whoever is "it" plays an adjective card. For Cards Against Humanity, this is a fill-in-the blank sentence, or sometimes a question.
- Everyone has a number of noun cards. Each non-"it" player plays one face-down.
- "It" reads them all aloud in the form adjective-noun and chooses the best/funniest answer based on the warped inner workings of his/her mind.
- For example, if the adjective were hilarious, we might play "@firedbigbird", "Mitt Romney's dog" and "my little brother" and whoever was it would decide which was most fitting.

For the purposes of playing here, BSG rules:
- All the cards for Cards Against Humanity can be found here.
- I'll pick a question card (possibly adapted for BSG) and post it in comments. (These are the black cards if you follow the link)
- You all can choose either (a) a noun card straight from the set above (white card), (b) a noun card from the set, adapted to BSG or (c) anything you want - put these in replies. POST ANONYMOUSLY.
- After some reasonable period of time, I'll declare a winner! Check back; if it's you, identify yourself! The few people who win the most will be awarded drabbles on prompts of their choosing.
- You can pick a question card and start a new comment thread of your own at any time, just be sure to come back and judge a winner!

(Also, a note: the Cards Against Humanity cards are really, seriously, offensive. As it's sometimes easy to offend over the internet, please be thoughtful in your choices and don't play any cards that are potentially triggery. Thanks!)

Thanks to everyone who came to play 20 questions yesterday, it was great fun! Today, a high school favorite, abridged: Marry/Frak/Airlock!

In comments, list three names of characters from the show and players will say who they'd marry, frak or airlock. For example, if we asked Kara about Sam, Lee and Leoben...well, we all know how that went! There are sections below for you to tell us how Kara or Lee would answer. If you want people to ask you who your choices would be, add a comment saying you'll play! If this is confusing, well, don't worry too much about what comment goes where :)

Side note: we'll play Cards Against Humanity - I'll at least be around for the morning to get it going :)

Good morning, everyone! I'll be running the DPP this week, and we'll mostly be playing games! [Poll #1869814]

I hope you all have time to play today, because this will be awesome if it works!

For those of you unfamiliar with Cards Against Humanity, it is Apples to Apples but with horrifying, offensive things instead of nice, polite things. If you are unfamiliar with Apples to Apples as well, here's a synoposis of the rules:

For the purposes of playing here, some adjustments to the rules:
- All the cards for Cards Against Humanity can be found here.
- I'll pick a question card (possibly adapted for BSG) and post it in comments.
- You all can choose either (a) a noun card straight from the set above, (b) a noun card from the set adapted to BSG or (c) anything you want - put these in replies. POST ANONYMOUSLY.
- After about twenty minutes, I'll declare a winner! Check back; if it's you, identify yourself! The few people who win the most will be awarded drabbles on prompts of their choosing.
- You can pick a question card and start a new comment thread of your own at any time, just be sure to come back and judge a winner!

Somewhere after hour two of CAP,  they played this all the time! :)

Hi Pilots' Shippers,

Welcome to another week of DPP. The lovely [livejournal.com profile] rachelindeedand I will be sharing it between us this week.

Today’s game is called Colosseum - I know, Roman not Greek but it fits my idea J

Untitled-1 copy

The game is simple. In the comments below come up with statements about Kara and Lee and then other people either thumb them up or down.

For example, you might make the statement: Kara likes cats and Lee likes dogs.

Others then either yay or nay that with a, ‘THUMB UP’ or condemn it with a, ‘THUMB DOWN’ - with extra commentary if you’d like. (While ignoring, if indeed, in antiquity, these thumb positions occurred as such ;D

Now, if someone states something you thumb down, please don’t be mean and also be sweet about other characters.

If your statement gets lots of thumbs down, you get extra love from me as I adore individualism. Please also don’t feel the need to be serious with statements – the crackier of a Monday the better, IMO.

While not saving the Fleet or generally being awesome, the pilots tend to do a lot of drinking...

...which can only lead to stupid drinking games!

Not just for our kick-ass couple, questions can be asked by, or to, any of the pilots.

Example:
Marry, Shag, Throw Off a Cliff

Kara asks Helo: Lee, Sam and Hotdog?

Helo brings in to question the legitimacy of Kara's birth, her father's birth, the questionable sexual practices of her mother, and the number of times Kara has received blows to the head or been in low-oxygen situations. He finally answers that he'd Marry Sam, Shag Lee, and Cliff Hotdog.

Lee quickly moves his chair away while Hotdog demands to know what he needs to change. Helo responds by asking him: Kara, Kat, or Racetrack?

If you've got a new game, then start a new thread (I iz trying for teh organizations).

Good job guessing yesterday y'all! Today, I thought it might be fun if we took a look at some recent headlines that included the words "Starbuck(s)", "Apollo" and "fra(c)king" and repurposed them as pertaining to our pilots. :D

For example, of the prompts below, Starbuck turning into a tech company, could lead to a story about Starbuck being a cylon. :D It may take a bit of a twisted mind and some ingenuity to make some of these fit, but I thought it'd be fun to see what discussions, fic prompts, graphics or actually ficlets you might come up with based on these. Bonus points if you actually use additional details beyond the headlines from each news story as well! Feel free to find and link your own news articles that would make good pilot tales/discussion as well!

Frak Lee, you never told me about #7! What do you mean can we just move on to #13?

Hey everyone! So way back during the first couple weeks the DPPs started, we played a game called Six Little Words where everyone tried to guess fics from six-word summaries. That list was mostly old classics, today's is mostly new fic from the past six months to a year. I tried to include one (and only one) by almost every pilots shipper currently active/writing in fandom. Note: There may be multiple fics that fit a prompt, but I did have one in particular in mind for each so that's the one you have to try to guess! Make your guesses and I'll confirm with answers and crossouts when I can.

ETA: FEEL FREE TO POST MORE SIX-WORD SUMMARIES FOR GUESSING IN THE COMMENTS!

Good morning again! Thanks to those of you who joined our conversation yesterday, it was an interesting discussion and it's always great to see new voices joining in! Today, a game:

TROPES!

tvtropes.org defines tropes as "devices and conventions that a writer can reasonably rely on as being present in the audience members' minds and expectations" - and pilots canon and fic both employ and subvert many, many tropes over the course of their story. Case in point:

Belligerent Sexual Tension

Your challenge today is to think about the tropes left in comments and either:
  • Write a drabble/ficlet that employs that trope in an interesting way (they're not bad if they're well written!)
  • Write a drabble/ficlet that subverts the trope
  • Or give us some meta thoughts on how pilots do or don't fit the trope
And if you get sucked into tvtropes or know others off the top of your head, leave them below!

(Side note: I was thinking of having a conversation about comments and commenting tomorrow, but one is happening today at [livejournal.com profile] bsg_epics! Check it out over there if you're interested :)

Truth or Dare!

Starbuck dares you to play!

Rules:
If you want to play, say “Truth” or “Dare” below in the comments.
  • If you choose Truth, someone gets to ask you a BSG-related question about yourself (e.g. How would you feel if in Daybreak we found out Kara and Lee were secretly married that whole time?).
  • If you choose Dare, someone will give you a ficlet prompt (e.g. Secret marriage).
  • Choosing Double Dog Dare gets you a prompt for something R to NC-17 rated. Just because I’m pretty sure that’s what Kara thinks it means. ;)
  • *BONUS OPTION* (in beta) - Promise to Repeat I don't know if you all played this way as children, but when I was little the sing-song of the game went "Truth, dare, double dare, promise to repeat." So for an extra variation, if you choose Promise to Repeat, then someone can leave you a word or phrase or sentence and you have to use it in a drabble/ficlet exactly as is.
Sound good? Here goes!

I have so loved the discussions this week, some of which are still active, so please go and leave your $.02. :)

Today, a small game that I've found to be mostly fun and hilarious at times. Stolen again from the lovely [livejournal.com profile] astreamofstars.

IMAGINARY TITLES
Leave a comment with the title of an imaginary fic. Others, reply with your take on what that fic might be about. You don't have to write a fic (unless you are inspired), just leave a little snapshot of a fic that might work for that title.

And? The crackier the better. Hee!

I love chatting about pilots! In-person pilot discussions are the best, but this game is also very fun for getting to know a lot about your fellow shippers' attitudes and feelings about pilots. It's a question and answer game and it's super addictive!

The Tennis Match:
1. Shippers comment saying they'd like to play Pilot Tennis.
2. Other members of the comm respond with a pilots-related question (one per comment). The more questions, the more conversations you'll be in.
3. Answer the questions given and ASK ANOTHER QUESTION in your reply.
4. Players alternates questions until... forever! (And expect lots of conversations running simultaneously! Your inbox will be busy!)

ETA: Don't forget to ask everyone else questions, too!

Conversations about pilots topics are preferred, but obviously conversations tend to drift. For everyone's comfort, keep conversations about fandom only. Thank you!

For Example )

And don't forget to make a wish at the WISHING WELL! There are a lot of wishes that have not yet been claimed, so please FILL SOMEONE'S WISH!!! You can find them HERE. Thank you!

It's Wednesday, it's time for a game! So, for today, I'm bringing back a game that some of you might have played a couple years back with [livejournal.com profile] taragel-- Name That Tune (Don't Forget The Lyrics, in this case).

So here's the deal: I put my music player on shuffle and I'm going to post a whole bunch of lyrics that remind me of pilots from the songs that came up below. Your job is to guess the name and artist of the song, which will be 1 point for you. Bonus point if you post the next line to the song. At the end, I'll tally up the scores, and I think there will be a prize to be won here...

A couple more instructions and the lyrics below the cut )

Game Day! Truth or Dare

Good morning, everyone! We played this a few months ago when I last ran the DPP, but it was great fun and sparked a good deal of fic, so I thought we'd play again!

Rules:
If you want to play, say “Truth” or “Dare” below in the comments. If you choose truth, someone gets to ask you a BSG-related question about yourself (e.g. How would you feel if in Daybreak we found out Kara and Lee were secretly married that whole time?). If you choose dare, someone will give you a ficlet prompt (e.g. Secret marriage). If you ask for a Double Dog Dare, you get a prompt to write an R-rated drabble. Which might be the same prompt, but you'd apply your dirty mind to it ;).

And leave questions/prompts for other players! There's no limit to how many truths/dares you can leave for a person except how much time they have to answer.

Here goes...

I'm going to post one card today and one card tomorrow for your drabbling pleasure.
