Hi guys, after a short break in schedule (which I admit was due to my crazy RL) we are back with the rewatch.

Tonight (at the usual hour - in about 20 minutes) we'll try to watch Epiphanies and Black Market.

On another news, since we are a very small group of people still doing this usually the discussion about the details of every rewatch is done through DMs. So, if anybody wants to sort of be added to this discussion group  just leave a message here and next time we'll ask you too if the date/hour works.

So...seems like no one is really coming to these anymore. As [livejournal.com profile] onlyariana pointed out, when no one shows up for Home or Final Cut, it's probably a good sign that rewatches don't need to continue. It's always difficult to find a night that's good for the masses, but if anyone is really passionate about wanting these to continue or suggesting an alternate way to handle them (like a weekly discussion post about each episode, and people can watch on their own time or whatever) feel free to lobby for it in the comments. Thanks!

For all the members of the shipper nation that didn't managed to participate on last night's rewatch or want to do it again - I extend an open invitation to out international rewatch of the miniseries, This will start at 0800 zulu - aka 9 pm CET and 3 pm EST.

We'll have - I hope - a lot of squeeing, sighing and general appreciation for the beginning of the phenomenon that changed all of our lives.

Since this is the first time for me doing this I managed to dig up my "bad driver" icon. BUT, I hope that you all will enjoy this and I'll not end up squeeing by myself.

I'll leave you with our beloved pilots:

and I promise that at least a couple of you are interested in doing this again I'll come up with better visual incentives for next time.

So, as our beloved [livejournal.com profile] taragel already let you know I'll host the international rewatch.
Upon long internal debates and after consulting the persons who responded YES in last weeks poll to the question relating to this I decided to have these rewatches as follows:

Dates: Saturdays - the episodes will correspond to the main program.

Hour: starting at 8 pm GMT, which means 3 pm EST.

The main consideration in choosing Saturdays was the fact that in this way if somebody misses the original rewatch on Friday night at 8 pm EST will be able to participate in this one.

Until Friday I wait for your opinions, suggestions, etc. If nothing important happens until then I'll post a reminder Saturday morning - and I wait for the interested persons to enjoy together The Miniseries.

Hey y'all, just a quick PSA to point those of you who aren't aware of it, to a post over here where some of us are planning to take a February 2012 trip to Las Vegas, baby! If you're interested, please weigh in!

This week's BBC post is up here.  Bastille Day.  Need I say more?

Wishing everyone a lovely Tuesday.  : )

((Also-also--, y'all know I fail at the pics and gifs, so if anyone feels led to post some lovely visual aids to assist in the discussion... well, let's just say I wouldn't be opposed.  It's important.  For, erm,... learning.  Yep.  **nods**))
[identity profile] workerbee73.livejournal.com
Just a friendly reminder that the next BBC is going up Monday (as in tomorrow) night.  This week's ep is Bastille Day.  So dust off your old copies of Tom Zarek's Manifesto, grab some popocorn and be sure to watch dirty!bloody!angry!bamcep-y!Lee go get him some justice (with bonus sniper!Kara kung fu action!)

**sigh**  Homework is such a drag.

PS-- I also have it on good authority that, courtesy of [livejournal.com profile] winegums and [livejournal.com profile] innibis, Edward Cullen, the Colonial Sparklepire, might just make an appearance in his weekly WWED column.  (It's the crossover the world didn't even know it needed.)

Thus endeth the PSA.  : )

So for today's DPP, I have a little request to make. :)

Both myself and our other lovely comm leader, [info]thrace_adama would love it if you checked out my essay on our beloved pilots, Nobody Told Me Battlestar Galactica was a Romance, over at the new romance/pop-culture website Heroesandheartbreakers.com.

In the essay, I list my top five reasons for shipping pilots like burning. We'd be thrilled if you guys wanted to stop by and comment, comment, comment on the post, suggest your own reasons, point out the things I forgot (because at 1100 words, there still wasn't room for everything I wanted to say about them!), etc. (I, uh, may have borrowed some of your brains to write the essay too. Shhh! I promise to give them back!)

There is even a fangirl glossary and links to here, SASA and various other BSG sites! Check out the fun tags too, like "hot is an understatement!" Hee.

Here's a sneak peek from the article...

They have a connection that is unparalleled. The word soulmate is bandied around a lot these days, so much so that it’s often mocked. But I can’t think of a better word to describe Kara and Lee. They seem bonded at an elemental level. It’s something that’s there in the first moment they meet each other (which you don’t actually get to see until the show’s final episode) and they fight it like the dickens, but it’s irrepressible, incontrovertible . . . even a little co-dependent. Over the course of the show, they’re split apart again and again by conflicts internal (crushing guilt!) and external (other spouses!), but they’re pulled back together again and again, because they need each other.

I'll be doing two more pilots/BSG/romance essays for the site in coming weeks. But aside from that, if you're a fan of fictional romance in any form, HnH is a great site. You can also follow them on twitter: @heroesnhearts.

Thanks guys! I'll be responding to comments over there as well, so hope to see you!

Just a quick announcement to pimp the [livejournal.com profile] bsg_remix comm! This is a fic exchange where you are assigned another LJ user who has mostly the same interests as yours (depending on your comfort zone level) and you must choose one of their fics to "remix" or write a different version of while still keeping the bare bones of the story in place. There are already six or seven K/L writers signed up to participate (assignment go out in February, fics are due in April), so come join the fun! And feel free to spread the word to others.

My friends, we are in some dire straits. The DPP schedule is a vast and barren wasteland of dates and 2011 is in jeopardy of being a completely pilots post-free year!

[identity profile] ninety6tears.livejournal.com
Hello, fellow shippers. This is [livejournal.com profile] ninety6tears reporting for my first time hosting the DPPs!

To get things started, I have a couple days planned for this week that might go more smoothly if people are given some advance time to scrounge things up, so a couple preliminary tips:

Firstly, Friday will be Don't Frakkin' Laugh day, for which you will want to come with all things funny. I will explain more about the (sorta) game later, but just know that spammage of anything - manips, gifs, macros, one-liners - will be happening. It doesn't have to be something you made, but if you want to get started on making some hilarity, you have some time. You will be able to play very fast and loose with what is considered pilots-related, so don't feel that you have to limit yourself to BSG-related images, etc.

Something encouraging some more creativity will be Pilot secrets on Sunday. With some inspiration from the format of PostSecret, I want you to create some secrets - But I don't want them to be yours. The idea is to imagine you are Kara or Lee or some other character and create what they would have to make a postcard about (Yes, we are assuming the Ikea ship also provides snail-mail ship-to-ship service - Perhaps secrets are posted somewhere in the Galactica hallways?) Secrets can be anything from Kara and/or Lee or from other characters related somehow to Kara or Lee, but be creative with how mysterious or vague they are; we're going to be having some fun guessing who it's from and at what point in time if it's not obvious.
Consider this an opportunity to flex your personal canon creativity and explore the aspects of characters that you believe to be there even if they're not the most obvious interpretations. And keep in mind, not all secrets are dark and deep: They can be funny and uplifting too.
(I should add that there isn't any requirement for these secrets to be images, it's just encouraged.)

To sign up for the Kara/Lee Shippers' Secret Santa Exchange at [info]pilots_presents!

We have a lot of fun plans up our elf costumes, so come on over and join/watch the comm even if you don't want to commit to gift-giving this holiday season!

Thanks to everyone who posted their answers for today's game!  The answer keys for interpreting your responses are located below.  Unlike the stories (which I adapted for BSG), these are almost verbatim from Kokology.

Answer KEY for Story 1:  Galactica

Answer key for Story 1 under the cut... )

Answer KEY for Story 2:  The Pigeon

Answer key for Story 2 under the cut... )

Answer KEY for Story 3:  Inside the Tomb of Athena

Answer key for Story 3 under the cut... )

Also, just a reminder that if you haven't got your nominations in for the Fandom Oscars yet, you have a few more hours to do that!

And if you have somehow forgotten EVERYTHING you've read in the last year... KaraLeeFic has a great roundup of the various fics.  Check that out HERE.
