[identity profile] ddt73.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] no_takebacks
Over on my livejournal I posted some deleted scenes from Black Market, Scar, Sacrifice and Captain's Hand. I recently came across an old post from [livejournal.com profile] beccatoria from five years ago where she had captured and saved them. I took a shot and found out she had saved them all this time. :) If you have time go check them out. They are also on my pilotography web site, as most of them have Lee or Kara in them.

Dave! These are amazing! I have only just dipped into the Black Market ones, but WOW do they ever provide a different image of Lee. I am so fascinated. I will be scouring them all tonight and tomorrow. BRILLIANT!!!

THANK YOU!

If you don't mind, I'm going to link some of these in a locked Lee Adama Daily post tomorrow. I'm so excited!

We're all abuzz over on twitter talking about them, but the consensus is that they are a bit difficult to take in all at once! I've only watched two, but will continue watching tonight and over the weekend. I'll probably introduce a few at a time (with common themes) over at LAD over the next two months. We have our ficathon fics starting next week, so I want to leave ample room for that. I will probably not start with the Black Market stuff because there is so much.

Was going to post this as a separate comment to this but what you've said here leads right into it. What Adama says about Garner's "Bench" being light gives more credence to my opinion that the Bucket was overlight on those mid-grade officers (majors and Lt Cols). They'd apparently gotten used to it though while the Beast lost Belson and then Cain and Fisk in quick succession. So that hole was worse for the newer ship.

They needed somebody in there and unfortunately for Lee he was pretty much the only choice. It was just another thing Lee maybe wasn't quite ready for. Which dovetails with the scene of Lee telling Shevon about how damn tired he was trying to live up to Bill's requirement for committment. Because we know Lee hadn't committed himself to going for the full military career.

I agree about Lee being happy as a pilot. It works with my "give a 20 something a $50 million toy" assessment of at least a small part of the character of the young USN fighter pilot. It has me wondering how he really felt about having been sent to War College and his early promotion though too. He obviously was excelling and the follow-on deleted scene assignment to TP school only strengthens that picture.

It occurs to me that the weakness we see in Lee may very well be partially a consequence of the isolation he was forced into. He went from being one of the guys, albeit with the possible Daddy's boy issues, to being totally isolated. Those mid-grade colleagues weren't there for him because of the unique circumstances on the G. So in some ways maybe that's the answer to my questions on how he couldl have gone from someone Peggy's crew eventually came to trust to Fat!Lee. Maybe he was able to draw about him some other officers in other roles as his support group while he was defacto XO. Then he became CO, something he never wanted, and was right back isolated again. With Kendra, who was strong enough to give him some support, gone, and Dee as his new XO he just didn't have what Bill always had from Saul.

Or maybe I'm just rambling here.

As for Belson, no way I would forget him. Since I first saw Steve Bacic as the Rhades in Andromeda he's been one I watch. I'm not an active fan, but everytime I see him show up in something I'm happy about it.
