Alright you lot, for today I have something a little different.  The thing is, some of us remember fandom before this comm, and some joined just after the finale, and some have only just discovered the show...and just about every time I read the comments on this site I find new and unfamiliar faces (by faces, I of course mean usernames).  So I propose...(drumroll please)...a friending meme!

Now, I've just taught myself how to do this code box thing so let's hope it works.  Anyway, you can copy and paste the following code into your comments.

You're into Doctor Who too? Awesome. I haven't seen much of the old series, but I've been a fully devoted fan since 2005. What did you think of this last season?

Yes, I was very charmed by this last season. I think Matt Smith is doing a lovely, slightly quieter turn in the role, and he's pretty adorable. And I've always enjoyed Steven Moffat's writing.

I've watched quite a bit of the old series (I love Tom Baker and Elizabeth Sladen), but honestly it's poorly written, poorly shot, poorly paced, with horrendously bad special effects, and you can only fall in love with it if you're willing to accept that it's bad overall and then watch the way the actors transcend their material with oodles of charisma and a joyful sort of innocence. They won my heart long ago, but it's been a real delight to see the series so competently and dramatically reinvented. Plus David Tennant comes across as an absolute sweetheart, and he poured so much love into that role. I'm very grateful for all the creative passion that's gone into the new series.
