Hey, I know I said I was going to post a two day thing? Eh... I changed my mind! :D I'm not sure if we've done this one before but I figured I'm going to go for it anyways. Tomorrow's post is going to come a little bit late in the day and I might do the two-day challenge then, because it's a little involved and takes a bit more time.

Anyways, what are we venting at Joe's about?

Unpopular Pilots (and other Fandom) Opinions.

I thought some of these might be coming up since we've been thinking so much about the scenes and the voting. Ever feel alone in what you think? Are you afraid to speak your mind sometimes because the other shippers don't agree with your opinion? Well pull up a barstool, get a drink, and spill it. Bartenders are, of course, the everyman's therapist.

My unpopular opinion, hmm. I don't hate Black Market? Does that count? Because I just think that, while indeed the execution left a lot to be desired, the revelations about Lee's past and how he was dealing (or not dealing, more accurately) with them in the present was some interesting stuff. Though I do think his Kara issues should have been a focus too. Why it wasn't will always baffle me.

But I think most of you already know that about me. Maybe I'll come up with something else...

I actually didn't hate Black Market either. Hmm... interesting to hear I'm not the only one!

I'm okay with it too, but Lee's my fave any episode that gives me that much Lee can't be bad.

I think it brought up some interesting ideas: the black market within the fleet, which is interesting, as it shows us how the non military is coping with the situation. Gianne is imo a good idea too, since it's shows us what those people lost and Lee is a logical choice for that since he came to Galactica in the miniseries, the ship isn't where his life took place for the last years. the problem is, it should have come up sooner, he should have been mourning her and feeling guilty for his abandonement of her after the initial attack.

THAT'S what didn't sit right with me! I couldn't put my finger on it, but yes! There were some survivors on the planet and he didn't freak out and get Adama to deal earlier than when Kara finally went back to see if Lee's CHILD might have survived?

Yeah you could see Lee mourning his mother and Dee her parents, it would have more sense for Lee to dwell on his girlfriend and unborn child some time early on.

Well, I liked Black Market, too. I think it was very interesting in terms of character development because most of the time people tend to think of Lee as some sort of perfect "golden boy", and/or as the self-righteous rules-abiding officer. The episode showed us some of his issues and imperfections and it made sense in the middle of his more depressed stage. I also like that it showed how lonely he really was at the time. What I didn't like about it was the part where killed the bad guy point blank. No matter what his shortcomings were or how frakked up he was at any given time in the show, one of his most defining traits was his love for justice and principles.

I don't care for Lee's story in BM, but I love the idea of a black market. And if you watch with the sound off, he is absolutely stunning - for me, he's at his most gorgeous. O_O

I really like Black Market. In my (rose-colored glasses) view, Lee's whole arc with Shevon is that he's longing for a relationship where he can lounge in bed, cuddle, haz da s3xytimes, talk and.....since he can't have that with Kara, he's doing it with Shevon. The Gianne story makes sense of the Dee arc for me. Lee clearly was with Gianne after meeting Kara, and appeared to use her as a substitute. Lee's like that Rolling Stones song:
you can't always get what you want
but if you try sometimes
you get what you need.
