Pilot hugs mean a lot of different things: thank the gods you're alive, I missed you, I forgive you, I trust you, and I love you. Pilots use physical affection (and eyefrakking) to express all of the things they never say in words. The two scenes below bookend the pilot experience for me. The Home hug and kiss, the first we see in the series, takes everyone (including Kara and Lee) by surprise. The brig kiss, the final important kiss for me, evokes painful longing, relief, separation, and, above all else, deep love and affection. It's painful and beautiful at the same time.

What is your favorite piloty affection? Please provide evidence. :D

ETA: I want to give a shout out to the amazing [livejournal.com profile] rachelindeed who created a lovely poem for yesterday's
DPP: Love and Angst in Six Words. Please check it out here.

Hmmm... Favorite moments of affection...

I think the hug he gives her when she comes back from the dead ranks right up there among the top moments for me. Everyone and everything else disappeared for a split second. It's the Home hug/kiss all over again, but somehow with more weight and depth.

Yes, ITA. I love that Lee pushes everyone out of the way to get to Kara. It's the perfect example of unconditional love: he doesn't care for one second if she's cylon or whatever. He is just thrilled that she's back.

ETA: Let us all note that Lee was WAY ahead of any other *ahem* less worthy individuals that might have shown up for hugs later.

Yes!

I love how he's just so focussed in on her, can't take her eyes off her. Even when Sam shows up (finally) he just stares and stares. So sweet!

Me too!! I love pilots at play! :)

And just think how much love they had for one another that it could override the worries at the end of the worlds and give them small moments of joy like this one. <333

I just realized too...and I don't want to stir things up...but I don't remember any of these moments of pure joyful play with K/S. (I don't mean pyramid, but childish play.) Even K/Leoben played in the paint and such, but K/S never seemed to play. I guess maybe that's part of why K/L always seemed so strong in comparison to their other relationships. It's the little moments...finger painting, water fights...that make K/L poignant and real.

I think we're taking a short hiatus while peeps get caught up with real life issues. However, I still owe my International Shippers meta-ish posts on Hand of God (and Tigh Me Up, Tigh Me Down, although that's not as much K/L) so I'll see what I can do about getting that up this week so we have some K/L rewatch goodness during our S2 main rewatch hiatus.

Such a great topic!

I love their hug/fumble in UB after the "I miss you/I miss you, too". I just love the way the hang on to each other like if they let go, the whole event wouldn't be real.

I just adore how they need to touch to make it a reality because sometimes their fights are so epic; they wonder if thier making up was real.

I agree! I don't ever remember seeing K/S having fun. For a couple that were meant to be; they didn't really do anything fun. They never seem to bond over their bond/relationship. K/L even in their fights, they were connecting with other on some level.

I also like the hug in Roslin's "dream" where they're hugging by her bedside.
