There's something about this particular shot of their Kiss from Home pt. 1 that I just love. I don't know if the icon maker had to do much besides crop it (from stills or promotional footage of the kiss that didn't actually end up gettng aired!) but nevertheless I love that you get to see both their faces at this angle, no one's head is blocking the way, and esp. the luminescence of Katee's skin and hair agains the rather drab background. And what can I say, I love how smooshed togehter their faces are. That's a serious frakking kiss. That's a kiss that means BUSINESS. It's no quick peck on the lips which is what we kinda ended up getting in the episode. Let's face it, kids: there would no doubt have been some SEXING ON KOBOL if that was the kind of kiss they'd shared!!

K/L: Oath Kiss by medelia_fi
Another kissyface icon (I have, um, a lot of these)! This one is of course just so pretty and romantic with all the sparkles. (I kinda have a thing for sparkles). And I love that a different angle of the kiss is captured in the little inset box too. I also think of this one as my official Smutstrav icon, because it's mutiny-centric and I used it on all my smutstrav posts. So good allusions there!

K/L: Doing What by amaliak
This is one of my favorite text icons, because it's just the perfect caption for this picture and Kara and Lee's outraged faces!) Plus it's so versatile really! Someone starts spouting off crack fic ideas starring K and L as the leads from Grease or something crazy like that, then bam: there's your icon! You write some especially dirty hijinx for them to get up to in your latest fic: Heck yeah, it works! It has many possible uses this one!

K/L: Snugglepuppies by ME!
So I am not a very good icon maker. I have no lovely programs other than the dreaded MS Paint and that's so limited I can't even lighten/darken images very well. But, there's something really satisfying about knowing you want a certain icon you can't find and then just going forth and making it. I have such a kink for snuggly pilots and this is our only really snuggly moment (that doesn't immediately turn into disaster) and it just kinda makes me happy, even as goofy as it is.

I actually have two icons of this scene, both similar. I like this one the best because their eyes are closed, they're smiling, and even though I know it's not what happened, in my head she has her arms around him from behind and they are just... Happy. Together. For once.

And lastly this one, because I think the face nuzzling scene in EoJ is possibly the hottest part of the whole show. And the caption is just right too because they really did have an inevitability about them. They're like a pair of magnets, attracting each other like crazy one minute, then the poles reverse and they fly apart, only to crash together again when the cycle repeats.

I found it even easier than this, actually, though it may only work with firefox, I don't know. I right-clicked on the image and selected "copy image location" which cuts out the step of opening the properties, finding the image link and copying it manually. ;) Then you can just paste it into the comment and make the tag.

What's not to love about an animated icon that sums up the pilots entire experience? Heh. No, just love the creativity and Kara's little eye roll in the last "rats" panel.

I love this scene, the hands on the face, the color, the text "echo" and the clarity. It brings out the sad, the devotion, and the love. Beautiful!

Funny you should ask about that icon! It turns out that amaliak did not make that icon. So, I have no idea who made it and that means, OF COURSE, please take it. It's one of my favorite in K/L fandom.

Umm... This is hard. I actually only use icons I've made myself. Which is part of the reason I don't have so many fabulous ones, probably, but... **shrug** Anyways. No great talent, and only casual photoshop skillz, but here are a couple that I really like.


Kara's laughing to cover how deeply she's feeling and Lee's so desperate and wearing his heart on his sleeve, and they're just hanging there, just short of what they both actually want. It's like a metaphor for their whole relationship. It hurts so much, but it's so, so hot.


The pictures! Kara from the mini, when she thinks Lee is dead. Then Lee in The Son Also Rises, when he finally puts Kara's picture up in the Memorial Hallway. The two scenes kind of bookend their story, like a hello and goodbye (if you ignore Season 4/4.5, since Kara was so drastically changed when she came back). Or maybe a goodbye and a hello. It's hard to tell which is which, because they were never any good at the goodbye part.

Love this entire scene and it contains my favorite line, "Whatever it takes." This black and white rendition really appeals to me.

The coloring of this icon as well as Lee's gaze into Kara's eyes sold me on this icon. I've seen different icons where Lee is looking at Kara's lips, but I prefer the eye gaze. Eyes ftw!

OK, I was SO UPSET by the ending of pilots that I actually deleted many of my "pilots" icons. But here are the ones I have left:

This is my favorite one because it's an allusion to the pigeon and how sad I am that Kara and Lee never worked out but it's also a lovely moment that I treasure from the actual episode. The icon is by iconsbycurtana:



This is the totally sexytimes icon by dianora2 - the words are allude to "Les Cousins Dangereux" a fake French movie much beloved of George Michael on "Arrested Development":



This one's by me (I've seen other versions of the same cap, but I'm lazy and whatnot, so I just kept mine.) I just love the absolute trust and the razor-sharp matching cheekbones in this one:

Anyway, my favorite pilots icons: (i'm only going to pick a few)

I got this icon because it combines so many things that I love: Pilots. Star Wars. Parody. Inside Jokes.
I loved that Trucco and Jamie had agreed w/ Katee that Starbuck was totally Han Solo to Lee & Sam's Princess Leia. It was so cute, and this icon makes me smile and remember that I was sitting a few feet away during that conversation between them.

I don't know why, but this scene and this particular image always is striking for me. I think it's the colors and the simplicity. It's like...they're Kare and Lee..thrown into darkness and impossible situations, but they'll get through it together. It's cheesy, but there it is. It also speaks to each other characters: Kara--chin up, let's face the music, out-of-the-box thinking, guns blazing. Lee--the over thinker, considers every angle before deciding, worried about the collateral damage. It's so...GAH! I love this icon.

So, this icon appeals to me because...well, mostly because it's HOT. This scene has been iconed again and again, but THIS icon...it's so simple. Just removed the background. Boom. Changes everything. I'm so used to thinking that the more an icon has, the better it is, but this proves that less is more.
Also, it's HOT.

ok, so this is the self centered part of me. Believe it or not, I LOVE the promos that they have for the seasons. Even if some of them are monumentally bad (like season 2. WTF?). But, it's PILOTS. IN HI-RES. IN GOOD LIGHTING. Yeah, the hair and makeup are atrocious....but the pretty is still there. And therefore, this is still my fav icon I've even made.
