I know people tend to be busier on the weekends, but here's something that struck me as I sit down on this fine (hot) Saturday to work on several WIPs that have been languishing in google docs: what are you all working on? 

So I declare this cheer-leading weekend!

Please tell me that there'd be Hermione and Lee being nerdy together with research and/or rules and also Harry, Ron, and Kara playing quiddich. (I think I see her as a beater) Or is it just HP world with BSG characters in it instead?

Maybe Voldemort is trying to use Cylon style ressurection with the downloading & new body copies? Or possibly Kara *is* Daniel's daughter and the whole human/cylon hybrid thing is the issue instead of mudbloods, half-bloods, and pure bloods.

I hope you do this. I'd love to read it.

I cannot even begin to tell you how much SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE I have over this idea - I think it's wonderful!

I've often thought of putting Lee and Kara in that 'verse simply because I love it so much, but I'd envisioned them as adults/Aurors/Ministry workers/diplomats - your idea of actually having them be still in school and actually in Hogwarts is really interesting to me.

(maybe for whatever the problem is, it could be someone working on a human cloning spell? Which could maybe be connected to the Imperius curse somehow, like you have to put the person under it before cloning them because cloning a free will won't work? idk, I'm not sure how to work the technical stuff either but feel free to bounce ideas off us! And I hope you find your pilots mojo again, bb!)

That sounds delightful! I can also imagine some version of the Farm going on - maybe muggle women are being used as surrogates for pure blood babies? Whichever way you go, I look forward to it!

I think it's going to take place some time after the events of the HP series, or just be sort of AU, and they're students at Hogwarts, last years.

I can't even begin to express how excited I am by this plot bunny! I am sure it will be awesome! If the story is going to be set post-DH, does that mean no Voldemort and more focus on splinter groups of loyal Death Eaters?

Kara and her friends are kind of stupid teenager revolutionaries, using violence to fight back, and Lee gets kind of sucked into it somehow.

They will be more awesome and kick-ass than Dumbledore's Army - that I am absolutely sure of. Especially if Kara is the ringleader of the merry band of rebels.

Auror!Kara and Unspeakable!Lee make an awesome team in my little head. Heh.

I had an idea for pilots in high school which is a crossover with this movie called The Hairy Bird (it is a completely underrated gem and kinda feminist too), but the problem is that the major issue in the film is that the school is a girls' school in the 60s being forced to go co-ed - it's central to the entire thing.

And since I need Lee to be right there with Kara, I have to figure out how to successfully make the school co-ed and not lose the political angle (thought of making the school a co-ed one and setting it on a super-conservative colony like Geminon). And then I have to fix my stupid case of writers' block and actually make this happen...at this stage, it's more a pipe dream than anything else, even though I was supposed to do it last year.

I know it by the same title as Nora :) Maybe Kara and Lee could be locals, so they'd know each other already even though the school was just starting to go co-ed? Plus then they'd both be "other" to the rich kids. I can't wait to see what you come up with!

Having attended an all-girls boarding school I must say how much I adore this idea! What about Lee being the son of the head or a faculty member? It was not unheard of for a child of the wrong sex to attend classes although there is an exchange program among the New England boarding schools to trade the complimentary tuition for children of faculty.

I have a less-than-5k fic that I've been working on forever that is giving me fits. It's set on the Pegasus but a little AU. They've been there for two weeks and the CAG is keeping them apart, scheduling them on different shifts, and everyone is kind of eyeing them and being aggressive, so their both on guard all the time. That's backstory, fic begins when Lee leaves Kara a note saying to meet him in the middle of the night in one of the lower less frequently used decks of the ship, in the gym. They're meeting to practice brushing up on self defense moves.

I think the leadup to the key bonding moment for them is a little off, or the tone is just too uneven/roller-coaster-y (which is typical of my stuff, but this one may not pull it off). It's in Kara's POV and she's really pinballing between emotions: tired, tense, giddy, lustful, angry, relaxed. Lee is mostly just tense and tired. But it has a nice turning point at the center that I love, where all their defenses just break and they physically and mentally just take comfort in each other.

I'm also working on the While You Were Sleeping crossover. I've got one more scene to finish off chapter two (which is a bit long, because I'm going to switch POVs to Lee at the start of chapter three). I can't wait to post three because that's where he and Kara finally meet and it's a bit different from...and much more tactile than their movie meeting. ;)

I love this idea, Pegasus is a time that had so much potential for pilots and the notion that people are suspicious of their closeness/don't like it makes a lot of sense in that environment.

(and pilots getting physical and combative with each other is one of my favourite things ever, I would love to see your take on that particular iteration of hurt/comfort. It makes sense that Kara would be feeling a lot of different things, too - I hope you find a way to work out that unevenness you spoke of, even if by the sound of it it kinda makes sense)

Hey Tara! Great to hear what you're working on. I don't know if this is a helpful thought or not, but have you considered maybe moving the starting point of the story backwards in time a bit, so that rather than describing Kara's pinball-y emotions through memories of the stress they've endured on the Pegasus so far, we actually get to experience that situation with her as it is growing worse? Maybe if you take us through the set-up in the first part of the story we'll be following along with Kara's emotions more easily? There might be some particular characters or incidents that push her into the decision that they are actually facing the probability of attack and need to prepare themselves? #mytwocents

This sounds great! Maybe if it were Kara asking Lee? She does tend to be the first to get combative/physical when she has too many emotions and not enough energy to control them :)

(So, I posted this, then went to an air-conditioned coffee shop to write...where the internet was still out from the storm yesterday. Fail. But I'm here now!)

I'm working on three main things at the moment:

First, the story that was supposed to be my Leefic, a long AU set in the future of Earth 2 where the Colonies really did become the basis for modern society. Lee is an archaeologist and has dreams about the myths and the dig he's on that he's sure mean something...and of course they do. I was writing a slightly different version of this, and just scraped it, so now I'm back to an outline stage. Eventually it'll get written?

Second is a project that I've had on hold forever - a canon-compliant story picking up missed moments through the whole show. When I originally wrote Prologue, I meant to keep going, and had extensive notes, but then I got distracted. I'm trying to go back to it now, but it's a huge project.

Third isn't really pilots, but the Katie fic I've been working on for a while. Chapter three is almost done (I felt weird writing the sex scene in a public place ;) so that may be up soon.

I'm excited to hear about all your projects!

One of my favourite BSG fics is about people doing excavations and finding Colonial remains, so I'm really excited to see this idea involving pilots (the other one didn't).

And missing moments fics are among my favourite kind, I would love to see yours when you finish!

(and I totally hear you about writing sex scenes in a public place, I can't even type fic in a public place - I have no hangups about reading it though!)
