I know people tend to be busier on the weekends, but here's something that struck me as I sit down on this fine (hot) Saturday to work on several WIPs that have been languishing in google docs: what are you all working on? 

So I declare this cheer-leading weekend!

I love this idea, Pegasus is a time that had so much potential for pilots and the notion that people are suspicious of their closeness/don't like it makes a lot of sense in that environment.

(and pilots getting physical and combative with each other is one of my favourite things ever, I would love to see your take on that particular iteration of hurt/comfort. It makes sense that Kara would be feeling a lot of different things, too - I hope you find a way to work out that unevenness you spoke of, even if by the sound of it it kinda makes sense)

I'm rereading it now and it mostly reads okay. I guess I'm not sure what exactly is off. I think maybe I need to rephrase some of the description where I talk about how tired she is to change it to being overtired. That weird knife edge of energy where you're too restlessly awake even though you're really exhausted underneath. That would explain the note of hysteria when she starts laughing at something. Hmm.

Thanks! I'm gonna try that! Hopefully I'll actually finish it off so I can post it this weekend.

oh yes, overtiredness would be a perfect thing for her to be feeling in this story - being so wired that she can't help but seek out another way to exhaust herself even though she's already exhausted, and how much effort it takes to keep going, and generally makes you mildly crazy? I like that idea, and I'll look forward to actually reading it!

Does playing up this aspect do anything for your issues? Because it's something that I think would really effect Kara and Lee at this time.

They talk about the fact that they're scheduled on different shifts on purpose, but I'm trying to be careful about it not tipping into melodramatic territory with "EVERYONE IS PLOTTING AGAINST US." I don't want it to seem like there's a rape around every corner or anything, just kind of that they're very uncomfortable because they know they are unwanted there. I could maybe unpack that a little more in the lead up. Kara could even lament that she missed Kat. Hee.

It definitely is the thing that's really affecting them though, you're right. It's actualy the key point that prompts them breaking down and kind of indulging in each other's physical presence--basically they just missed each other. They could deal with all this other stuff and they are, but it's so much harder because they don't have each other.

Maybe if you have them come at the feelings of unwantedness from different angles... Lee more "they're plotting against us? What is Cain's problem?" And Kara more missing specific things and people about the Galactica. then they can both get to missing each other, realizing how much they rely on each other?

Lol he has a line that is almost exactly that actually! I think the content of their conversation is okay probably but just maybe the timeline needs to be rejiggered so that instead of it all happening in one meeting/incident it unfolds a bit more gradually maybe. The only tricky thing there is if they keep meeting at night...then they're not missing each other as much because they're getting their fix so to speak. Hmmm...

If it's a timeline thing... what if they run into each other accidentally the first time? Then the second time isn't at night but planned out? And a third time is both set up and at night?

I thought of the "meet me" request being in person, whispered in the hall or the head or the mess in passing maybe. There's also the possibility of them talking/whispering in a briefing. idk this may require more rethinking than my peabrain can handle. Lol
