Out of Character and Over the Top. Many fanfic writers worry about going too far in one direction, and taking their story to a place in which the characters do not resemble how they were in canon. On the other hand, there are many scenes in canon that fans think do not resemble the characters that they have come to know and love.

Granted, everyone has a slightly different perception of what a character is like, their own interpretation, but I think more people can agree on the things that are severely out of character or over the top.

Your mission, should you choose to accept it: Together, create a round robin fic of the most OTT and OOC nature you can possibly make it. Be as soap opera-esque as you feel is necessary. It doesn't matter if you're a good or a bad writer, just join in and see what happens.

First bit:

Kara sat in her quarters on the Demetrius poring over her star charts. Earth was out there somewhere and it was her duty to find it. However, she found that she just could not concentrate on her work. No, her mind was on other things. Like the fact that both her husband and her... friend, almost-brother, lover, former superior officer, everything...her Lee had joined the mission as well. She sighed loudly. What was she supposed to do?

Just then... there was a knock at the hatch.

(Ready, set, go!)

Hey Shippers! Hope you're all having a fantastic Tuesday. :)

First, a bit of an update on the [livejournal.com profile] no_takebacks  challenge. There is still time to get your requests in here. I'll be posting a master list of all the requests either later today or tomorrow. Also, be sure to participate in the poll about the issue or extending the reveal deadline by one week.

Today I thought we'd do a round-robin fic, but I've added a bit of a twist to things. I'll start things off with a cap and the beginning of the story. After my section is done, I'll post another cap and the next person has to continue the story based on that picture. So with each section of the fic, a cap must be included at the end to direct the next person where to take things. If you get to a point where you think that story has ended, you can finish the fic, but you must start a new story up and include a cap*. Go it? Then, let's go!!!

*Need a cap? Good places to look are black-celebration and disparue
Let the fic, begin! )

Who's up for a pilots round robin?! Borrowing from [livejournal.com profile] somewhereapart's wonderful model from a few months back, the idea is to post just one or two sentences per comment until we've written ourselves a ficlet.

As a non-writer myself, I know that posts like this can be a little intimidating for some. But this is just a bit of fun, so I'm hoping to see lots of participation. There is zero pressure here.

In fact, I'd actually like to suggest that we go for a "bad romance" theme and make this thing a study in bad!fic. Pile the cliches on: wax rhapsodic about Lee's cerulean orbs, push the flying = sex metaphors, have Kara and Lee get possessive (a fave of mine, ngl--hey, they're cliches for a reason!), introduce a baby or two, etc. etc. Go to town! You never know, it could be so bad it's good. :)

Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] rayruz for the first sentence:

She knew frakking one's superior officer was generally considered a bad idea, but when it came to Lee Adama, Kara couldn't help herself.
