DPP: OOC and OTT
Feb. 25th, 2011 10:55 amOut of Character and Over the Top. Many fanfic writers worry about going too far in one direction, and taking their story to a place in which the characters do not resemble how they were in canon. On the other hand, there are many scenes in canon that fans think do not resemble the characters that they have come to know and love.
Granted, everyone has a slightly different perception of what a character is like, their own interpretation, but I think more people can agree on the things that are severely out of character or over the top.
Your mission, should you choose to accept it: Together, create a round robin fic of the most OTT and OOC nature you can possibly make it. Be as soap opera-esque as you feel is necessary. It doesn't matter if you're a good or a bad writer, just join in and see what happens.
First bit:
Kara sat in her quarters on the Demetrius poring over her star charts. Earth was out there somewhere and it was her duty to find it. However, she found that she just could not concentrate on her work. No, her mind was on other things. Like the fact that both her husband and her... friend, almost-brother, lover, former superior officer, everything...her Lee had joined the mission as well. She sighed loudly. What was she supposed to do?
Just then... there was a knock at the hatch.
(Ready, set, go!)

"What the frak is up with you two?"

Lee snorted at this, giggling a bit as he stepped to lean against the doorway.
"Sam, you're drunk. You both are," Kara bit out. "I don't have time for this."
"Wait, wait, wait," Sam said, leaning more heavily against her and making hiks face overly serious. "We came to ask you a very important question."
He let go of her and reached for Lee, both of them facing her. "Whyyyy did you leave my boy here, just lying in the sand by himself like that?"

I want you out of here. There's a raptor on this smelly ol' thing, isn't there? You're a disruption to this expedition!"
Sam was giggling behind Kara, but he let out a great whoop as Lee gathered Kara up in his arms and jammed his tongue into her mouth as she went to take a breathe. "I'll see you two later!" he cackled.

"What? Get Sam out of the picture?" He winked at her. "That's between the two of us."
"Oh, Lee. You and your mysterious ways...." She shrugged, giggling. She'd never understand men. Not in a million years.

Date: 2011-02-25 07:52 pm (UTC)"What are you doing?" grouses Sam.
"I don't think we're both ready yet." Lee turns to him, draping an arm around the taller man as he led him away from the Wall of Remembrance. "You still have some more of that swill?"
"I thought my... incident earlier was the warning for me to sell all of it back to the Chief?"
"I think we both need to let her go together, but I'm going to need more liquid courage for that."
