I'm going to post one card today and one card tomorrow for your drabbling pleasure.

For those who have never played, some instructions:

THREE RULES
1. Keep it simple: a bingo consists of five 100-word drabbles in a row on the card, across, down, diagonal. No special bingos. ONE BINGO = FIVE DRABBLES.
2. One bingo per comment: each comment must contain FIVE DRABBLES - no more no less. That will be counted as a bingo.
3. Use the Frak Space: you must write an R or NC-17 drabble. (For those uncomfortable with writing those ratings, I'm going to ask that you write a kiss to use the space.)

BINGO FORMATTING
At the beginning of each drabble, use the following format: TITLE, PROMPT, RATING. Separate drabbles with *** between each. (For an example of how people played last time go HERE.)

TODAY'S CARD

Happy Writing! :D

Ambrosia

“Come on,” Lee muttered, as Kara dragged him into the empty storage unit. “It’s late, I’m tired, whatever it is can we do it in the morning?”

“Lee, I don’t care how frakked up things have gotten, we’re not going to skip our anniversary.”

The word smacked him upside the head. One year. One year they’d been holding this secret, officiated by Elosha just after Colonial Day. Married.

“You forgot.” Kara handed him a glass of ambrosia--where’d she get that? “Didn’t you, Mr. Thrace?”

“It’s not Mr. Thrace.”

“Yeah it is,” Kara smirked, kissing him hard.

“Yeah it is.”

Raptor

She doesn’t wait.

Before the hydraulic hiss of the raptor’s hatch opening, Kara crosses the deck in long strides only a beat away from running. She needs to see it for herself, she’s heard and held her breath.

She just wants to see him, just to make sure that the SAR team hadn’t botched the rescue. Wants to make sure that he’s breathing. He needs to be breathing. As long as he’s breathing he’ll be there to back her up in the future.

Medics shove her out of the way, but she sees his chest rise and fall.

He’s alive.

Dream

Kara will never tell him; he knows her well enough to know that.

Watching the way she curls up, looking almost small, under the tarp—he knows something is wrong, something went wrong, back on Caprica. Maybe she thinks she’s fooling them all, but he knows that something just isn’t right.

She tosses in her sleep, the crinkle of her body on the plastic, loud in the otherwise quiet night. He puts a hand on her shoulder, nudges gently, and her eyes bolt open with a gasp.

She doesn’t tell him about the nightmare. Rolls over. Goes back to sleep.

Kiss

Some heavy knot in her chest breaks loose at the sight of Lee’s face, broad and grinning and grateful to see her. Not the welcome home she had expected, not the way they’d parted. The grin is infectious and before she knows it, she’s smiling too.

Lee wraps her in his arms as she wraps her arms around him and he holds her close, more of a hug than he’s ever given her before. And when he pulls back he doesn’t let her go, pulls her in again and kisses her soundly.

Definitely not the welcome home she had expected

Zak

“Zak was dead long before the colonies got nuked.” It’s not the best way to start the conversation, Kara knows, but she doesn’t know how else to ask why Lee’s putting Zak’s photograph on the remembrance wall.

Lee gives her a sideways look, and there’s a weary sadness in his face. “I used to visit his grave,” he said. “Every year. I guess I wanted a place where I could go to remember him. Not that I ever forget. I just wanted a place. Three years today.”

Together, they stand, Kara's shoulder pressed to his. “We must be getting old.”

These were all amazing, but I especially love secretly married pilots and how Kara's the one who remembers that it's their anniversary.

Nice job!

Awww, Mr. Thrace! That's the cutest ever. It's great that she's the one to remember their anniversary.

And I love her panic for him in Raptor. They are all wonderful. :)

These are all so good! I loved my favorite Kiss in 100 words, reminding me that Kara didn't really expect a warm welcome home from Lee (or for Lee to be there at all!).
Oh, and Zak was my other favorite...wow. Well done. Loved what you did there.

(These all tell one story.)

Ambrosia
It’s late by the time Lee makes it back to his quarters. He’s been dogged by memories all day of his mother and Zak, friends from the Atlantia and the Academy. The whole business of settling New Caprica is throwing him. It’s too easy. Something’s not right. He nods to the marine guard and pushes through the hatch.

Then he sees Kara asleep in his rack. Maybe not being on the run is better. As Lee crawl in to join her, Kara rolls over, snuggling against him warm, cozy. Definitely better. He kisses the top of her head and smiles.

*** *** ***

Dreams
Lee Adama often dreams something horrible has happened to Kara. It stared long before red moon, the end of the worlds or even Zak’s accident. It started the first night he met her.

By the time she leaves to rescue her pyramid player, Lee’s so used to her ship bursting into flames, he almost doesn’t notice. But he can’t shake the visions when he wakes. Everywhere he looks he sees her raptor blowing to pieces.

That’s how Lee ends up on the hangar deck obscured by the crowd. Because he has to make sure she gets back.

And she does.

*** *** ***

Raptor
Kara Thrace is big. Her actions, her voice. The way she fights. The way the she comes back to Caprica to rescue him.

All the way back to the Galactica, she talks about the vastness of space. It lulls him, the laughter and the wild hand motions.

Then as Sam Anders steps off the raptor, struck by the hugeness of the hangar, everything shifts. Kara moves slowly to a man almost no larger then her and tucks into his arms. Suddenly she’s small, intimate in a way he didn’t know he was missing. He should have known she was covering.

*** *** ***

Kiss
She doesn’t kiss him just yet, because she doesn’t want to just kiss him. Instead, Kara pulls Lee into first almost private space she finds and shoves him against the wall even if they’re only talking.

“Thank you,” she says. “If I hadn’t gone, I wouldn’t know…”

“Know what? What are you talking about?” Lee’s face is a mix of puzzlement and shock, making her giggle. “Kara?”

“I wouldn’t know I want this.” She waves her hand between them and grins.

“I have a girlfriend. I can’t.”

“Yeah. You can,” Kara winks and spins away because Lee will definitely follow.

*** *** ***

Zak
It’s late by the time Lee makes it back to his quarters. He’s been dogged by memories all day of his mother and Zak, friends from the Atlantia and the Academy. The whole business of settling New Caprica is throwing him. It’s too easy. Something’s not right. He nods to the marine guard and pushes through the hatch.

I love the story you told here-- how Kara didn't acknowledge what she wanted until she went on that rescue mission, and where the two of them are now. So much could have gone better if pilots had just acted.

The proper Ambrosia drabble

Date: 2011-12-11 01:53 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] kdbleu.livejournal.com
Ambrosia
Kara lets the ambrosia burn down her throat, the tears trail down her cheeks. She knows Lee is standing the door way watching her watch the film of the viper explode again and again. It’s beautiful and comforting, death. Calm and cold. Nothing.

When next she looks over, Lee’s sitting next to her. Even in the flicker of the film’s light, she can see the red mark she put across his cheek. Reaching out his hand, she lets Lee take the bottle, lead her back to the bunk room, kiss her forehead after tucking her in.

Gods, she loves him.

BINGO!

Date: 2011-12-11 12:54 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] kl-shipper1.livejournal.com
Bright, Shiny Future, viper, PG

On New Caprica, Kara Thrace is Sam Anders' wife. She's not Starbuck, hasn't been for a while. They say New Caprica's a chance to start a new life, that bright, shiny future she and Lee debated when Scar was around. Now, it seems Sam and Kara are trying to make one for themselves.

Not even Sam knows she's planetside because she's trying to put as much distance between her and Lee Adama as possible.

At night, Kara dreams of vipers flying through space, twisting, twirling, racing. Lee's always on her six.

She doesn't want to think about what that means.

***

Drown, ambrosia, PG-13

After Lee'd landed his bird, he'd kept control, deciding where to go from there. He knew he couldn't go to his quarters, as Dee would be there, and he couldn't face her now. Not after what happened.

Once he'd hidden himself away in his office, the grief overwhelmed him. His body was wracked with shudders, and the enormity of the pain was like nothing he'd ever experienced, not even when Zak died. Hands shaking, he reached for a bottle of ambrosia, and drank.

The ambrosia burned on the way down, but did nothing to make him forget.

Kara was gone.

***

Mr. President, President Adama, PG

"So, what should I call you now? Mr. President?" Kara asked, eyes bright with amusement. A smirk appeared on her face, and Lee felt dread wash over him.

"Leland?"

Lee rolled his eyes, elbowing her. "I'll have you know..." His words trailed off at the sight of Kara doubled over, laughing. His own face broke into a grin.

Kara swiped at her eyes, "But really... Leland?"

"It's a good name!" Kara arched an eyebrow in response.

"You're never going to let go of this, are you?"

"Absolutely not."

He didn't mind, not really, as long as she smiled like that.

***

Loss, dog tags, PG

At some point, Lee noticed that Kara came back from Caprica one dog tag short. He couldn't pinpoint when he'd started, but after that it was the first thing he saw. He was tempted to ask her. He knew he wouldn't get an answer, so he didn't question her.

When he heard about Anders, the missing dog tag held more meaning. He'd tried to tell her he loved her, but she'd laughed it off. Apparently she'd given her heart to a pyramid player on a nuclear wasteland. He'd lost her.

Then again, maybe he hadn't had her to begin with.

***

Separation, cell, PG

The first time they were in Galactica's brig, she'd assaulted a superior officer, or asshole, as Kara said. They hadn't seen each other for two years. They'd bantered like they used to, albeit more strained. When conversation turned toward Adama, the familiar anger bubbled up. He walked out with Kara looking like she wanted to punch him too.

Now, they're back in the brig, about to go their separate ways. This time, the feeling is of sadness, not anger. He doesn't know how he'll leave her when he'd just got her back. So he turns back, kisses her.

He stays.

Bingo! (unless I'm too late)

Grass

He could smell the soil, feel the springy give of the ground beneath their weight. He was struck by how she glowed in the sunlight. Or, he amended silently, what passed for sunlight on Cloud 9. He didn't care. It felt like a reprieve and he didn't want to think about just what it could never quite be. The splash of cold kept his mind from further thoughts on the matter. Thankful, he chased her. She let him pull her to the ground as they laughted. Them beneath manufactured sunlight, her beneath him and the grass beneath it all.

*****

Dream

“Do you ever dream of Zak”

She raises an eyebrow at him. “Should I?”

He shrugs. “I don't know. I do sometimes. Wonder what he'd be now.”

She stares him down until he breaks away from her scrutiny.

She sighs, “He'd still be dead. Like everyone else.”

“I guess.” He answers slowly, uncertain. His mind flashes images from a dream. A man, grown. Smiling. “We'll never know.”

A guilt she'd long thought gone, roars to life.

“I'm going to bed.” She whispers.

“I'm sorry.” He offers.

That night she dreams of him for the first time in a long time, but this time, he's smiling.

*****

Frak Space

The world was spinning. His hands rough on her hips, twisting her around, shoving her facedown onto the table. Her hands fly out to cushion the impact. Her hips slam against metal.

“Frak,” She groans, feeling the bruises blooming. “What happened to not leaving marks?”

But he's already tugging down her underwear and sliding into her. The world is spinning again.

“I don't fraking care today.” He groans harshly against her shoulder as he thrusts wildy.

Reaching back she pulls him in tighter and draws her nails roughly down his backside. He hisses.

She smiles. “Neither do I.” The world keeps spinning.

*****

Fatigues

They picked the right name for these damned outfits, she thinks as she looks over the grimy gear covering her exhausted body. Every muscle screams out in defiance of another step. Fatigues indeed, she thinks, throwing herself onto the ground beside Lee. Her body sings in relief at the momentary rest. She watches umoving as he meticulously cleans his gun.

“Think we'll find the tomb tomorrow?” He asks.

Unable to speak, she just nods. Her incisions burn.

“Sorry,” He amends. “Go ahead, take a nap. I got watch.”

“Naw” She groans, pushing herself up beside him, pulling out her gun.

“I'm not tired.”

*****

Knee

He didn't come to give her a bath that night. But he did come the next day and the one after. Only the fear that teasing him would keep him away, kept her quiet when he kept showing up. Besides, he usually brought gifts. Aside from relieving her boredom, his presence brought her a peace she couldn't explain. But when his hand slid up her leg to check how she was healing, the jolt that surged through her was a response she understood well.

He froze.

“Did that hurt?” He asked.

She just shook her head, hoping he wouldn't let go.
