Hope it is okay I post this here, I only do so, cause this relates to the DPP the other day by Bonita_Chica71, so I thought it was appropriate. If not, I'm sorry and you can delete it.

Just read an article that says Edward James Olmos wants to write a post finale graphic novel.  Here's the article:
http://www.screenjunkies.com/tvnews/edward-james-olmos-planning-battlestar-galactica-graphic-novel

What do you think of this? Would you want to read such a thing, or are you wary of anyone picking at any old wounds?

I would like to know what happens to Lee. Almost anything would make his ending better.  Would like to see father and son get together and share their sorrow at losing the love of their lives. Take some solace in knowing Lee found some kind of happiness on Earth 2.0.

However I would be worried how they handle the post poof story. What if EJO went with Katee's vision of what happened with Kara that she went off with Anders in the after life. I could do without that thank you.

EJO directed TAB that alone is enough to make me concerned. Though he did direct "Islanded in a Stream of Stars" which has one of my all time favorite pilot moments.

I'm truly torn on this. It's an interesting notion, but I would be very wary of reading it.

I'm with you, Dave. It could go either way. How Kara and Lee are handled would be my deciding factor. If she's with the Second Banana, I would definitely spend neither time nor $$$ on it.

Glad to know that EJO is exploring other communication channels for continuing the story.

Oh, you know Kara's chillin' with Second Banana in their Epic Goo Jacuzzi of Lurve. They travel to different worlds and rub each other's backs and have fights in which Kara pulls a gun and Second Banana defuses the situation by telling her bits of garbled words masquerading as prophesy. Kara relaxes and cuddles up to him and Sam stares at the twinkling little stars and thinks of special snowflakes. And in his moments of lucidity he remembers Kara sitting in the Jacuzzi with him. Every time he and Kara look to their other side, they see each other. ♥ It's a beautiful and totally healthy relationship. I know I'd love to see that.

If that happens, I'm so designing a cocktail called the Second Banana. It starts off syrupy sweet, then packs a hard liquor wallop that feels like a gun butt to the side of the head. Bwaaahhahaha

May I just say that I am THRILLED to see you referring to Sam as Second Banana now? Just tickled pink. *g*

Haha, it'll probably focus on Adama's complicated-but-ultimately-rewarding relationship with hygienic products. And how he had to move on from those products to start a new life on Earth when they ran out. He cried as the toothpaste rubbed itself all over his teeth, and they had one brief reunion before the parting of ways by the riverbank.

And there will naturally be a few panels devoted to the manner in which he and the leader of the natives got into a pissing contest over a certain stretch of land. Adama totes wins because he's clearly the bigger dick EJO's character and therefore unbeatable got prior experience after Cain and Roslin and the Cylons and everyone else in the frakking Fleet. And the other leader relents and takes a different stretch of land.

Then, of course, is the requisite MY SON YOU HAVE DISAPPOINTED ME plot point. You know it's coming. You don't know when, you don't know why, you don't know how; but it will come. Because that's the way the Lee/Papadama dynamic works. (Strains of woodwinds will be heard over their heads as they reconcile. Or, well, as Papadama decrees that Lee has proved himself worthy of forgiveness.)

And the above is why I love the pali!! Lovely work as always, bb. (prob way better than whatever EJO comes up with)

BWA! I swear I wrote my comment before I read yours, but we do seem to have similar ideas about what an EJO-penned graphic novel will look like.

Hee! I can't say I'm surprised, considering many of my opinions on Adama and EJO were influenced by your commentaries and by discussions with Bop. ;)

ETA: And, of course, Dionusia's stories. *sigh* I miss her cracked-out little brain.

I very much doubt EJO would go against what the creators of the story have already established. My guess would be that Kara won't be featured in this at all. Unless I hear from others that this thing is worth my while, I am not going anywhere near it.

Yes, but frankly I am not interested in reading about Lee climbing mountains or cavorting with cave women. Frankly, I hate the whole "new Earth" storyline and it would indeed take a major overhaul for it to interest me.

I will wait for the reviews and would read if there is mucho Lee. Unfortunately, though, nothing will ever heal the poof. Unless RDM drags his sorry ass into the cutting room and lops off ninety seconds, it'll be his frak up forever. Pfft.

Thanks for the info (and sorry for the bitter)!

No worries, on the bitter, babe. I totally agree. Although I thought you were gonna say "unless RDM drags his sorry ass into the cutting room and lops off his own head"...which would also work for me. ;)

Ha! Uh, Hollywood would certainly be a more interesting place if showrunners/directors regularly committed ritual suicide after a less-than-perfect product :P

I feel there's a reality show embedded somewhere in that comment.

Well, they have been known to commit career suicide by producing bad product...and while I am sure RDM couldn't care less about my opinion, I am certainly not going near anything else he ever touches.

I'm not just into BSG for the K/L, but who the hell knows if EJO can write a graphic novel. Honestly, it'll probably depend on who the artist is more than anything, but I'm a little dubious that anything post-finale can be all that interesting.

Based on EJO's other comments on the show, I expect that the 'graphic novel' will feature Adama sitting beside the cairn of stones he's built over Laura's grave, and having flashbacks about his drinking times with Saul Tigh interspersed with guilt over imaginary things that he did to make the Cylons kill all the humans (but now it's OK, because they are all friends. Friends who have all scattered across the globe where many will be eaten by prehistoric predators, but friends nonetheless...)

And maybe there will be some vague foreshadowing of world peace brought about by Battlestar Galactica. But there will probably not be any mention of either Lee or Kara, because I feel that they don't really occupy much of EJO's focus :P

or Adama puking over himself (again), because that's SO MUCH MORE important than giving Lee and Kara a chance to say goodbye.

bitter? yes, yes I am.

(it doesn't help that I've attended BSG panels at Dragon*Con religiously the past few years and with every panel EJO gets more and more about how HE CREATED THE SHOW. I'm quite jaded with him and his attitude)

The BSG alumni does seem to rapidly be winnowing itself out into the people with BIG egos about the show (EJO, Richard Hatch), the people who are actually smart and put real thought into their work (Jamie, JC), the people who are still as cool as ever and never developed an ego about the show (virtually the entire Canadian cast), and the people who spend most of the show drunk (Ron, the rest of the writers, and Aaron Douglas). :P

a) It ain't never gonna happen I bet.
b) I do not want anymore BSG product period. Because I feel there is always room for them to further piss on the relationship of Kara/Lee and I do not want them to do that. So I'd like it to RIP in that hybrid goo tub in the sky.

Extreme? Yes, probably so.

As long as the epilogue is thousands of years after Adama's death with the Sky Gods returning (Cylon/Clone Billy and Racetrack who got unthawed and rebuilt by the Centurions) who proceed to fix all the "back to nature" crap by starting ACTUAL Earth civilization.

That would be funny...:P

I just read the article and well, pshaw. Whatever man. Yeah, what's the Chief doing? Nothing. He's hanging out by his lonesome somewhere in Scotland. And no, I really don't care what Adama is doing because let's face it. He was kinda getting up there in age, his (gah) lover just died, his almost/kinda/maybe daughter just poofed to ... somewhere, his son's gonna be climbing mountains ... I'm thinking Adama's not doing much of anything but feeling sorry for himself sitting up on his rock, even if he's managed to build that cabin, by himself, with no real tools. And Lee Adama? For gods sake EJO, leave Lee alone. He's had enough crap happen to him already from RDM & Co. He doesn't need you to swoop in and frak up his lonely, wandering & bitter existence. It really is pretty frakked up already. Leave the man be.

K. End of rant. I guess what I'm saying is I'm not interested, but thanks for playing EJO.

When I first read the article I thought: "Hey, EJO is into fanfic". My second (more cynical) thought was :"Someone is trying to make some easy money by playing on fans' frustrations". I don't know enough about EJO to really say if he is seriously interested in telling a meaningful story or if he is just trying to cash in, but I'd be curious about it and might give it a try just for the heck of it. I'd only buy if I read some good reviews. From a shipper view point, I guess it'd be disappointing as he will stick to canon and that means no Kara, but I guess it would have to focus on Lee a lot and that could make it interesting enough to me. In short, I guess we'll have to wait and see.

I just think they need a complete do-over. Just call everybody back...admit hey WE FRAKKED UP! and redo the entire Daybreak I and II and GET IT RIGHT THIS TIME. Hey, i'll sponsor the whole damn thing. Just clean the frakking mess up NOW.

Ok ... i'm done
