EJO planning a post finale graphic novel
Sep. 9th, 2010 11:00 pmHope it is okay I post this here, I only do so, cause this relates to the DPP the other day by Bonita_Chica71, so I thought it was appropriate. If not, I'm sorry and you can delete it.
Just read an article that says Edward James Olmos wants to write a post finale graphic novel. Here's the article:
http://www.screenjunkies.com/tvnews/edward-james-olmos-planning-battlestar-galactica-graphic-novel
What do you think of this? Would you want to read such a thing, or are you wary of anyone picking at any old wounds?
I would like to know what happens to Lee. Almost anything would make his ending better. Would like to see father and son get together and share their sorrow at losing the love of their lives. Take some solace in knowing Lee found some kind of happiness on Earth 2.0.
However I would be worried how they handle the post poof story. What if EJO went with Katee's vision of what happened with Kara that she went off with Anders in the after life. I could do without that thank you.
EJO directed TAB that alone is enough to make me concerned. Though he did direct "Islanded in a Stream of Stars" which has one of my all time favorite pilot moments.
I'm truly torn on this. It's an interesting notion, but I would be very wary of reading it.

Date: 2010-09-10 03:37 am (UTC)And there will naturally be a few panels devoted to the manner in which he and the leader of the natives got into a pissing contest over a certain stretch of land. Adama totes wins because he's
clearly the bigger dickEJO's character and therefore unbeatablegot prior experience after Cain and Roslin and the Cylons and everyone else in the frakking Fleet. And the other leader relents and takes a different stretch of land. Then, of course, is the requisite MY SON YOU HAVE DISAPPOINTED ME plot point. You know it's coming. You don't know when, you don't know why, you don't know how; but it will come. Because that's the way the Lee/Papadama dynamic works. (Strains of woodwinds will be heard over their heads as they reconcile. Or, well, as Papadama decrees that Lee has proved himself worthy of forgiveness.)

Date: 2010-09-10 04:19 am (UTC)Part of me wants to see it somehow some way made better, but how can it be made better without overhauling the story?
Though it seems Lee would play a major part in a post finale story and how they left him, how couldn't he?

Date: 2010-09-10 04:08 am (UTC)He gave us alot to be bitter about. The poof was so very wrong on so many levels, it's hard not to be bitter.

Date: 2010-09-10 04:15 am (UTC)And maybe there will be some vague foreshadowing of world peace brought about by Battlestar Galactica. But there will probably not be any mention of either Lee or Kara, because I feel that they don't really occupy much of EJO's focus :P

Date: 2010-09-10 05:04 am (UTC)bitter? yes, yes I am.
(it doesn't help that I've attended BSG panels at Dragon*Con religiously the past few years and with every panel EJO gets more and more about how HE CREATED THE SHOW. I'm quite jaded with him and his attitude)

Date: 2010-09-10 04:44 am (UTC)b) I do not want anymore BSG product period. Because I feel there is always room for them to further piss on the relationship of Kara/Lee and I do not want them to do that. So I'd like it to RIP in that hybrid goo tub in the sky.
Extreme? Yes, probably so.
