Date: 2010-09-08 03:59 pm (UTC)I find it interesting how similar their backgrounds are. Both are military brats, fathers left them to their let's say "less then ideal" mothers. This is how our pilots were forged for better and for worse. It's what made them very self sufficient and strong people, but also explains their dysfunction too.

Date: 2010-09-08 04:32 pm (UTC)Lee, despite an alcoholic mother that might have given him a poor opinion of female authority figures, has no problem ceding authority to 43rd in line President Laura Roslin. "The lady's in charge." Laura was a lady and got her sh7t together fast in the face of nuclear holocaust; Lee respected and responded to both.

Date: 2010-09-08 05:41 pm (UTC)I actually missed on the first watch that Lee tells the camera in Final Cut that he was just in the reserves when the war hit. It adds an interesting background note to him suddenly having to be the CAG, especially when you think some of the lifers already on the G might have been pretty pissed that the boss promoted his reservist son over them.
