No Takebacks

Kara is a hard one because talk is not her bag, baby. I think the distress with which she says "I guess that's all we'll ever be now." is probably one of my favorites because it's her acknowledging that there was more for them to be, an "us". And even "especially me." I like when Kara just acknowledges them I guess. Another favorite "We'll walk those halls together." It's not inherently shippy I suppose, she could just be talking to her "pal Lee" ;) but there's an optimism and a promise and a note of comfort in it.

For Lee I just like when he supports her unconditionally and isn't super harsh/judgmental. So yes, the scene in Islanded, but also, Whatever it takes, and "especially you" (even though it's kind of a total lie!) and hell, "I missed you too."

You know what, for BOTH OF THEM, I like when they acknowledge that they have something. I'm just easy like that. ;)

OH and another one, no two!, for Kara; "All we can count on is you and me, now." and "Guess it's just you and me, then."

I so wish that had been her last line of the show. It would've filled me with great, great joy.

UB flashbacks after Lee tells her Dee "packed it in to go... pack." And it gets picked up in the present bits too when Dee leaves in a huff, "And once again, it's just you and me."

I was reading a fanfic the other day, one of the ones ninety6tears recommended, "Life out of Balance" by gwasshoppa, and at the end of the story it said:

One of my favorite lines of Kara's is when she's just returned in her viper (appearing after her death), and Lee tears across the deck to hug her. He whispers something in her ear to which she responds:

"Okay... okay. Me too."

Now I've listened to that particular scene a hundred times and you CANNOT hear what Lee says to Kara, but in my own head, it's him just blurting out that he loves her. And Kara, being Kara, simply acknowledges it, without actually saying the words back. I love it. *sigh* That little scene is just lovely... and whether or not that's the real words that were spoken, that's how the dialogue goes in my head (and my personal canon).

As for my favorite Lee quote, it is probably both the inaudible "I love you" followed closely by the same quote which

thrace_adama mentioned:

"Listen to me. I don't care...we've all been through some crazy, crazy stuff. I don't care what you think you saw. I watched your viper explode. Don't care. I'm here. You're here. This is all that matters."

I just wish the writers had given more action and credence to those words... but that's a rant for another time. :>)

What makes it even better is that she thinks she's only been gone 6 hours, so his reaction is so completely over the top in reaction to that and she just takes it all in stride. ♥

Ah yes, I'm sure they would, as I totally agree with you regarding the lack of subtlety by that point in BSG. I do, however, think a lot of impromptu acting went into Katee and Jamie's portrayals of their characters, so I'd guess that Katee is the originator of the phrase... but my head fills in the line that is never spoken by Lee to prompt it. (As I said, except in my head.) I guess I just think that her lines answer something, so my mind wants to fill in the blank. Make sense?

P.S. Have I mentioned that I am very good at rewriting particular scenes to fit my slanted POV of the series? I add in backstories to EVERYTHING I don't like, or want to skew a certain way. LOL. Probably not healthy, I know. But admitting you have a problem is the first step.

Heh, in my personal canon he didn't actually say anything there. I figure her "me too" is in response to the death grip hug he has on her - he doesn't need to say anything cos that says I-love-you-I-thought-you-were-dead-I-was so-lost-without-you-I'm-so-glad-you're-back all by itself.

I actually kinda liked that he didn't say anything there but she "heard it" anyway. :)

A couple other favorites that I don't see listed are from Extended UB:

Lee: "I love you Kara Thrace" and Kara's response "I love you too".

Also right before the above Lee: "I was afraid to admit how much I needed you, how much I needed anyone." then Kara simply nodding and saying "Yeah."

For me the above is about as close as you could to summing up their ship in one line.

The whole scene under the wing in Maelstrom speaks so much to how both pilots matured and knew that there was something between them. Lee's "whatever it takes" and Kara's "and that's all we'll ever be now" kill me.
