Alright you lot, for today I have something a little different.  The thing is, some of us remember fandom before this comm, and some joined just after the finale, and some have only just discovered the show...and just about every time I read the comments on this site I find new and unfamiliar faces (by faces, I of course mean usernames).  So I propose...(drumroll please)...a friending meme!

Now, I've just taught myself how to do this code box thing so let's hope it works.  Anyway, you can copy and paste the following code into your comments.

I valiantly tried to do one of those code box things but the html was being very, very difficult and I gave up.  You guys can just copy and paste from here.  Remember that each line is, of course, optional.  Now go, talk to people, and be merry!

Name/Callsign:
Bee, aka, Kiki's Southern Doppelganger and Aurora0811's Southern Twin

Callsign: Sugarblanket

Age/Location (if you want):
I have just begun my 4th decade on this earth. : )
Sweet home Alabama!

What got you into BSG/Kara&Lee?
Um-- they had me at hello? Also, I thought the show was just kickass.

Favorite character(s):
This should be painfully self-explanatory.

Favorite episode:
Pretty much all of season 1, The Son Also Rises, Revelations, Islanded

Favorite scene:
"Clinging to a spinning bed" convo with Romo, Six and Lee.

Other fandoms:
Doctor Who, West Wing. But BSG was totally my first fansom.

What do you post on your journal?
My rambly thoughts on fandom, music, beauty, fashion, philosophy, my love of film, the mad ramblings of my brain, fic, things I find funny, and the occasional tub of sparkle rage. ; )

Three random facts about you:
1. I hate being bored.
2. I'd rather watch a movie than read a book (ironic for an English major, isn't it? ; P)
3. I have a passion for handbags.

If you could meet any person (dead, alive, real, fictional) who would you choose?
Oh dear. My list could go on for miles. Someone who would be a funny and interesting drinking buddy and bar wingman. I'm thinking writers and painters...

Anything else you'd like to share?
Courtesy of my Canadian Doppel, I have a "Keep Calm and Carry On" coffee mug on my desk at all times.

Of course! You've been stalking my fics? How perfectly lovely. I'm completely flattered. : ) And yes, DW is a beautiful thing. I was especially happy with this last season.

It's funny hearing the differences between what I thought people were, versus what they actually are... strangely, Bee, yours is quite close to my mental "friendsfic" that I created. I will say, however, that in my mind you look like Elizabeth Taylor in Cat on a Hot Tin Roof and you wear heels to every occasion. :>)

Okay, first up, you are insanely off-the-charts cool for coming up with friendfics. I TOTALLY do that too. I just can't help it. My mind likes to make up stories. ; )

Second, now you have to actually tell me what your friendfic for me is. Pretty please?

And thirdly, OMG HOW MUCH DO I WISH I LOOKED LIKE THIS WOMAN???? **points to icon** Sadly, that is not the case, but I'll simply say this-- I think I come much closer to the description of Scarlett O'Hara in the opening lines of Ms. Mitchell's hallowed book. (After all, 90% of sex appeal is all about attitude. *g*)

And yes, I do try to wear heels whenever possible, although I do have a lusty affair with flipflops.

I don't have the book handy (though I recall LOVING it) but one image that sticks in my mind from those first few pages is the description of Scarlett's eyebrows as arching like a bird in flight. And you know what? As a woman who is so blonde I look "beige" if I don't draw my eyebrows in, this is EXACTLY the quote that goes through my mind each morning as I pencil myself in a few features.

(Sidenote: My oldest boy saw me before makeup one morning and asked what happened to my eyebrows.... Yes. They are THAT important to my image.)

Here's the line:

"Scarlett O'Hara was not beautiful, but men seldom realized it when caught by her charm..."

Eyebrows are incredibly important. They frame the whole face. You don't stick a Renior in a crappy frame; just so, you've always got to pay special attention to those eyebrows. I'm always searching for the perfect eyebrow pencil shade. I usually use one brown and one blonde together because I'm kind of in the middle.

Oh Bee, after all the lovely fic I've read of yours, I most CERTAINLY will share your friendsfic...

First, you're a Southern belle, born and bred. You attended a cotillion when you were sixteen, though you couldn't bring your boyfriend at the time, as he was three years older than you, in the armed forces and your parents (both staunch Baptists with a traditional set of values to boot) most certainly didn't approve. After graduating from high school, you headed to the big city of New Orleans with a dream, a dog-eared copy of Colette's La Vagabonde and a suitcase full of heels. (All a girl needs, really.)

You worked your way through university, earning a degree in Dramatic Arts and had your debut at the Le Petit Theatre de Vieux Carre starring in... A Streetcar Named Desire. You were, as expected, fabulous and the papers toasted you as the next Vivien Leigh. At the post-final striking of the set, you met the older brother of the director, an oil painter who insisted on calling upon you for the next few weeks, supposedly to "paint you", though in reality, those daily calls meant something else entirely. *fans herself*

The two of you were married on your twenty-first birthday; scandalizing your home town due to the differences in your ages, and you spent your honeymoon in Paris. You finally settle on in an old plantation house that the two of you painstakingly refurbished, and which has become the haven for one and all in your sprawling famiy.

Since then, you've continued to work in theatre off and on, though you also pursue your interest in writing fanfic. Also, when the mood strikes you - you allow your husband to paint you yet again. You are his one and only muse, after all.

OMG, I LOVE THIS. I AM SO TRADING IN MY REAL LIFE FOR THIS VERSION. THIS KICKS MONUMENTAL ASS.

Lovely work, my darling.

Sadly, it does not entirely line up with reality. Although I revel in theatricality, my thespian days ended with the 5th grade school play in which I played the lead of Betsy Ross. (I sewed a flag, it was fabulous, a nation was born.) My hometown was too small for a coming out ball, but I did have to take sewing and art lessions from a very young age. Mr. Bee is an artist, yes, but his masterpieces are of the culinary sort. And he's younger. And when I'm not making up stories in my head, I'm just your garden-variety staunch defender of Democracy. ; )

I didn't know you followed West Wing! Do you write fic for that too? I'd be ALL OVER that cuz your fics are full of awesome!

From: [identity profile] workerbee73.livejournal.com
You know, I never have. BSG is the only fic I've ever written-- in fact, it's what got me writing in the first place.

But now that you mention it, I've always had this WW/BSG crossover idea where the gang lands on earth during the Bartlet administration. I have this scene in my mind of a late-night Josh and Lee convo about democracy... just kickin' back and bantering it up and being complete political dorks together. Makes me smile. : )

OMG! I would totes read that. I'm a huge, huge Josh fan. And of course, next on the list is Toby for me followed closely by CJ :-)

I quote West Wing all the time for absolutely no reason. It was THE best written show on TV. I really miss Aaron Sorkin *sigh*

I'm so glad you've enjoyed. I will definitely keep sharing. Music is like breathing-- you've just got to have it or the brain doesn't work right.
