Kara/Lee fic recs: Secret Marriage fics

OK, things have been pretty quiet on the rewatch front lately...a little too quiet. So I thought I'd liven things up a bit with a few random fic recs while we wait for our lovely moderators to move us along.  I have a fondness for fics where our dear pilots have taken things to the next level in their relationship but somehow managed to leave out the part where they were supposed to fill in everyone else about their plans.  Yep, secret marriage fics. Here are some favorites of mine - what are yours?

Contrecoup by mecurial-wit

Ah, this is a classic.  Lee lands his Viper badly and suffers a head injury, requiring surgery and experimental drug therapy.  The experimental therapy requires consent from next of kin, which everyone assumes is Commander Adama.  The scene where it comes out that it in fact lies with his "legal wife" is one of my all time favorites.  The fic tells the Starbuck and Apollo story in two threads of reverse order, and is replete with pilot banter, flirting, and third-party observations of their relationship, which I adore.

Very Close to Far Away by latteaddict

This is another of my all-time favorites.  Kara and Lee's marriage is so secret, not even they know about it!  It's one of those implausible but oh-so-fun premises in which our duo is married under an arcane Caprican law governing consumation of a brother's marriage within a specified time frame after his death...or something like that.  In order to dissolve the marriage, Kara and Lee have to live together as man and wife for a month before declaring it over. It's a unique approach, a fun, fluffy read, and latte gets extra bonus points for well-meaning interference by A/R and for rubbing Dee and Sam's noses in evolving pilot love. 

A Winning Strategy by Buckbeakbabie

I love this one because we get to be with our pilots as they actually take the plunge.  It picks up shortly after Lee's welcome back kiss and declaration of love in Home, and follows with Kara's revelation that he really does love her.  I adore that Kara proposes to Lee, and that Lee makes her actually say that she loves him too before he says yes.  Add in Cavil and Romo and hot!pilot!sex, and it's a wonderful read.

Portraits of a Marriage by Uberscribbler

I struggled with whether to list this one or not, because as much as I like most of the chapters, I absolutely loathe Chapter 12.  The chapters bounce around during various episodes in Season 1, the mini, and pre-mini, giving snapshot views into how Kara and Lee met and got spontaneously married to avoid serious brig time after a bar brawl.  It's disjointed but one of the few fics that actually follows our pilots for some time after the big reveal (to us, not to their colleagues) that they're married, which I enjoy.  I just hate Chapter 12 with a passion that burns white hot because it paints Kara as a victim and has both her and Lee acting completely out of character...I can't even read it without getting angry. You've been warned.

And last, I'm reaching a bit with these two, but they do fit in a way:

Thousand by hackaddict

Lee asks Kara when she'll be finally ready to settle down with him, and she answers "One thousand Cylon-free days".  It becomes a running joke as Lee continuously proposes to her, until the day it's not a joke anymore.

The other one is "Memories of You" by latteaddict, but the Fallout Shelter has decided again that it hates me and age-locked me out of that particular story (I really, really hate how it suddenly decides to do that from time to time), so I can't directly link to it right now.  You can just go to latteaddict's story index (you can get there from the link above) and look it up, maybe you'll have better luck.  As I said, this one's a reach as secret married fic.  Kara is injured by a falling raptor and emerges from a coma with selective amnesia and thinking that she and Lee are married, but Sam and Dee are still very much in the picture. And there's a pretty big plot twist about half way through that turns the whole story upside down.  Another great one from latteaddict.

In If You Had Been There First (http://www.fanfiction.net/s/2700425/1/If_You_Had_Been_There_First) by Ian K there's some marriage of the secret variety. Not immediately, but it happens and the story is a fun read.

Latte's "Very Close to Far Away" was recently rec'ed at SASA so I started reading it and now I'm almost finished. So much fun! Now I think I'm in a "marriage fic" kind of mood so this couldn't have come at a better time.

Ok... I have tried the Fallout Shelter, and FF.net, and etc... all Latte's fic seems to have disappeared off the web! Does anyone know where it's gone?!

Latte took her fic down from her own LJ and ff.net, but the last time I looked it was still up at the Fallout Shelter.

ETA: Dang it, I just checked and it's gone there too. It was a conscious decision on her part to take it down so I don't think it will be up anywhere else anytime soon. :(

I have read some of these secret marriage fics and they are fantastic. I just love how no one know and its exciting.

Latte has a few good ones but she has taken her stuff down becuase I was craving her Memories of You a little while ago. I know they rec her stuff over at yahoo apollo/starbuck group but they can't be found. May be someone saved them on their hard drive. *hopes*
