DPP: Doppelgangers

You know how sometimes you'll see an actor and just think "Wow, they look exactly like XX"?

That happened to me when I first started watching the miniseries and Lee Adama came into view. I'd never seen Jamie in any other roles and immediately I thought "Wow, he looks an awful lot like Daniel from Ugly Betty." Daniel is played by Eric Mabius

Ironically enough, Mabius and Bamber were just cast together in a new sci-fi series for the BBC titled Outcasts (it'll air on BBC America this fall). As far as I know, they are not playing brothers or relatives of any kind.

Now Katee is a bit harder. She didn't specifically remind me of any one person that much, although she definitely fit a type of blonde, tomboy heroine that I'd enjoyed in the past. Witness:

But since those references are all a bit dated, I'll go with someone more modern. Now I haven't seen Atonement or the BBC Emma yet, but I hear Romola Garai looks a lot like Katee (she makes a ton of Katee-ish faces in the stills I've seen). Witness:

 

Different hats maybe but same eyes, wide mouth, complexion. Yeah I can see it.

 
 

And not to leave out our quad of doom compatriots, I have some doppelgangers for Sam and Dee also:

  
 

OK so these two don't look a ton alike, but there's something about their natures that remind me of each other. Kris Polaha from Life Unexpected has the same kind of everyman, ex-jock, good natured but maybe a bit of a slacker kind of vibe that reminds me of Sam (or Trucco). They're both very tall also.

 

When I went to see it in theatres last year, all through Star Trek, I kept getting distracted because Zoe Saldana's character reminded me so much of Dee. I don't think it was just my BSG obsessed mind though...I really think the actresses look kind of alike. They could play sisters!
 



So, who reminds you (physically or otherwise) of our favorite (and, uh, sometimes less favorite) BSG peeps?

I don't know about that. The writers wanted us to believe they loved and were attracted to these people. Why have Lee keep going back to her if not?

I just never got more than a "vaguely affectionate" vibe from them. Same way you'd be with a friend or younger sister.

However, I think there was definitely supposed to be chemistry because we were supposed to believe in these alterna-ships, but the only time I saw it was the first moment on the wrestling mat and I guess their last moment although I was too busy yelling at my TV to really pay attention to that. ;)

Maybe it's just my fanon, but I refuse to believe they wanted me to see anything in the alternaships but hidey holes. At least Kara/Sam had chemistry. Dee/Lee was just a weird hero-worship/little sister thing to me.

Fine. Maybe he was supposed to have feelings for Dee. I don't have to like it. 8'P *g*

Honestly, I didn't even see much chemistry between Kara/Sam. Just the pyramid scene and the angry fight on Demetrius.

I guess all the other relationships they had really just paled in comparison for me. :)

**nods** Agree on the Kara/Sam thing (and I find their angry!sex on the Demestrius plain awful, I can't see anything there). Trucco and Katee are both very attractive people, but great chemistry? Nope (although I believe Kara had chemistry with pretty much everyone). Frankly, I always saw much more chemistry between Kara and Leoben, their scenes together were fiercely intense (not on a romantic level, though, I never saw them this way).

(as for Lee and Dee, their "chemistry" was non-existent to me).

The lead up to the sex on Demetrius when she's pushing him into the wall and then she just kind of shudders and softens against him was kinda hot I thought. Although it's similar to the kind of angry tension she had with Leoben which I totally and completely hated...so...go figure! Heh.

Hehe. Well, I get what you mean about the Demetrius scene, it's just that I hate that scene so much. But oh well, I am so biased ;)
