[identity profile] rdave1.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] no_takebacks

I hope everyone had fun at the wedding! Hopefully you all aren't suffering a horrible hangover.:)

So moving on....

Simple question for today, has BSG taken over your brain? The random things in your day to day life, do you associate with BSG or pilots? We all have callsigns now, which I know I would have never gotten had it not been BSG.

For example, the lovely [livejournal.com profile] somethingusual posted a few days ago that they play pyramid every sunday near to where she lives. Long ago, when I would pass towns on my trip, they would mean nothing and now whenever I pass the town of Leesburg; it makes me think of Lee.

We have some very talented group of people who love this show. I have seen hats  and socks that look like the mandala. What else have you all encountered in your day to day life?

Have a wonderful Saturday everybody!

**Don't forget the revelations for the first ever [info]no_takebacks challenge are tomorrow.**

Here in Chicago we have streets named Leland and Roslyn. Always amuses me when I pass them.

I have real life friends named Lee and Sam. This causes some occasional confusion when talking to BSG fans, especially [livejournal.com profile] leiascully, since she lives here and she has to hear all these stories:

Me: So then we all went over to Lee's, and...
Her: Say what now? Is this a dream?
Me: No. We always went to Lee's after dinner on Margarita Monday. Why?
Her: Ohhhhhhh, Lee. I thought you meant, you know.
Me: Ohhhhhhhh, you thought I meant ♥Lee♥, and I'd finally snapped.
Her: You've gotta give a girl some warning.
*my phone rings*
Me: Hang on, I've gotta get this. It's Sam.
Her: *eyes glaze over*

HAHA! That is too funny! I would be so confused and angsty about talking to Sam. Hee.

LOL. This is hilarious! Too bad that guys don't go by names like Lee or Sam in my country.

Here in California sometimes the governator (yes, that's how we refer to him) sometimes appears on California tourism ads on TV, and with his accent he pronounces the name as Caleefornia which I never really gave much thought until recently, and now when I hear CaLEEfornia on one of those ads it reminds me of Lee.

The last time my husband and I were at an airport, I asked him to get me something from Starbuck instead of Starbucks, and we both burst out laughing :)

And a couple of times I have been reading and some reference to Apollo has come up. I'm not sure I'll ever be able to think about Greek myths without sci-fi connotations again.

Also - and this is the dorkiest thing EVER - I am a fan of Batman fanfic, and whenever I see the initials JLA (for Justice League of America) I think of Leeland Joseph Adama. Even his name is an anagram for justice! :)

Yeah, "Apollo" is completely changed in my mind. And for some reason, when I hear Apollo, I always think of the towel scene. Wonder why that is?

Hee.

Heee, yes! My last Apollo-related trauma happened when I saw the actor playing Apollo in "Clash of the Titans", that Apollo was so wrong! :)

Hah! I use frak all the time too!

A friend of mine has designed these awesome shirts on Cafe Press that just say "Nothing but the rain" on them. I have a few (*blushing*) and am always waiting for people to ask me what it means so I can get into a serious ramble about BSG :-)

I say Frak about fifty times a day. My friends find it amusing, of course. I do try to refrain from using it at work - they already think I'm a little nutty.

I always seem to have a BSG thought thread in my brain. Always. It can be about a fic, icons, a recent post, something I want to write, an episode, etc. Always something bouncing around.

I'm always itching to check my email and LJ to see if there are interesting things to talk about. I love it.

We're brain twins! I say frak all the time (although I do use it all the time at work, as the better option of what I want to say- they already knew I was nutty), I always have a fic or video or icon idea kicking around my thoughts, and I compulsively check my LJ and email for BSG stuff to read and talk about.

So, yeah. You stole my whole answer. 8'D

I'm with you on the Frak side of things! I kinda accidentally started using it....and then I couldn't stop! t home, at work, with my friends (who have no idea what BSG is)...I do still use the alternative, but not nearly as often ;P

Yes to everything too! BSG has become a part of my daily life --it's changed my life, in a way. And I am one of those who say "frak" on a regular basis --which is the dorkiest thing ever, especially because I don't speak English... My colleagues at work tell me that I am nuts! ;)

I find I always go to say frak, then realise that it's not the right word and restrain myself.
My friend has a shirt with it on the front.

"Frak," and "so say we all" have entered my everyday vocabulary.

When something is a huge disappointment, one of my real life friends and I say it was a "poof and a pigeon."

I con a lot of my friends into watching the miniseries because I want more people to talk with about BSG and I know if they watch the miniseries they will be hooked.

Yup. BSG has moved in and set up house in my brain. I don't think it's going anywhere. I don't see so many accidental references to it in my every day life, but it definitely colors how I perceive a lot of things. I'm having a hard time finding specific examples right now, but Pilots are in my head, always.

Word. Me, too. Obsessively.

Thought of another... I have been writing fanfic a little obsessively lately. For the last few weeks, I've been waking up at 3 or 4 in the morning with characters doing dialogue in my head. So I keep a pen, scribble it all down, and voila! New chapters appear.

There; now my secret to daily multi-posts is out there. (I wonder if this is what it feels like to be in AA).

Songs I'll hear on the radio or on my ipod will make me think of pilots and I've taken to wearing a silver ring on my thumb just because it was so damn cool on Kara.

Tehehe, emulating Kara. I got my hair cut like hers shortly after I started watching BSG.
