DPP: In the beginning...

Good morning, Shipper Nation.  Welcome to day two of my reign of terror the land of rainbows and kittens.  I have one question for you:


How did those crazy kids meet?

Disregard the lame-ass flashbacks in Daybreak for a moment.  I know that EVERY SINGLE ONE OF YOU has their own version in their head of how Kara and Lee met.  So guess what, peeps?  I want to hear it.
 
Was it funny? Angsty? Silly? Did sparks fly? Was it the traditional rom-com meetcute or a full-out confrontational exchange? Did the earth move and angles weep?  Did they know each other as kids?  Meet at the Academy?  Attend band camp together?


Whatever it is, I need to know, so spill, m'kay?  *g*

NOTE:  For purposes of this discussion, I'm asking you to forget about the DB flashbacks and go back and remember what your theory was before we were bombarded with all that.  (Not just because of the controversial table scene but because the meeting and subsequent early interactions of K/L deserve their OWN FRAKKING MINISERIES-- NOT FIVE MINUTES IN A HASTILY-WRITTEN FINALE.)

Yeah, I thought the flashbacks were pretty lame too. It seems a bit unrealistic that they didn't meet each other at the Academy at some point. So I'm going with they met there. Lee was probably even more of a tight ass and Kara was more carefree (not having to deal with saving humanity and all that). They probably became friends but the chemistry was there from day one. I love all the AU fic with the two of them and Helo at the Academy.

The Academy stories are fun-- and of course it always brings up the question--

If you're Kara, and you met Lee first and you're well, PILOTS, how the hell do you end up with his brother???

I think that's cuz Lee's got that stick up his butt :-) Just your standard Lee'ism of not acting on his feeling because of some stupid rule/reg thing. And, K being K, she probably didn't act on hers either cuz she didn't want to frak up the friendship?

Dunno, but I'm SURE that if I was Kara, I'd jump Lee the first chance I got, consequences be damned ;-)

EXACTLY! How do you ignore the crazy-mad raw magnetism going on there? Impossible, I say. There had to have been at least one drunken makeout in such a scenario. *g*

Why would it be unrealistic? After all, do you think all military/pilots from 12 colonies/planets would go to the exactly same Academy, the only one in 12 planets? It seems to me that even if we consider only one planete there must have been more than one place for people to go to.

No I agree that there must've been more than one location, but it seems that the top pilots, etc. would go to the same place to receive training from the best. Think Top Gun in So. CA. That's where I'm picturing them.

To me, the multiple academies were based on home Colony. I don't necessarily think there was one on each individual one, but it made a kind of sense to me.
