We had a few great bingos yesterday:

Laughter by [livejournal.com profile] embolalia [NC-17]
A Good Defense by [livejournal.com profile] sci_fi_shipper [PG-13]

ETA: Unexpected Pleasures by [livejournal.com profile] taragel [NC-17]

The Pre-min cards are still open for bingos, although they won't be counted towards a banner any longer. Today's cards are open and winning a banner for the most drabbles is still quite possible! <3

Miniseries and Season One
Many of the prompts on today's cards are snippets of dialogue spoken by Kara or Lee or other characters that I thought might make for interesting pilot drabbles. In using those, you do NOT have to use the dialogue in the drabble, but can instead just capture the flavor of the scene or interaction where the dialogue was used. If you do use the dialogue, you MUST RE-PURPOSE IT because none of the dialogue can be used in its original context - see THE TWIST below. :P

The Twist
The same basic bingo rules from yesterday apply, except that you CANNOT use any of the prompts on today's cards for drabbles that take place during the Miniseries or Season One. For example, if you write a drabble for the word "retirement prank" you cannot set it anywhere in the Miniseries or S1. You can always go AU for any drabble.

Banners will be up later when my computer stops crashing. :)

Do you have to use the prompts in order left to right or up to down or vice versa? Or can you use them in any order?

Do we have to use the squares in line order or can we mix them up?

Bingo #2 - Seeing is Believing

Baltar, Ships in the Night (PG)

Gaius stifled a yawn as Felix yammered on about the groundbreaking ceremony. He had a doctorate in artificial intelligence, for goodness sake. He could surely handle shoveling some dirt.

Bored, his gaze strayed to the foursome nearby. Starbuck and that ballplayer, Apollo and Dualla. His eyes gravitated to Kara, catching how her smile widened as she looked from her date to the Major. His gut twisted with old shame.

For just a moment, Gaius considered pulling the pyramid jock aside, warning him. But he dismissed it as Starbuck and her entourage sailed past him, oblivious like ships in the night.

Dee, you wanna dance? (PG)

She held the secret close, giddy with excitement, as they whirled around the dance floor. Breathless she pulled over and watched Apollo dance with Starbuck. Lee’s smile faded, his grip white-knuckled on her arm, eyes locked intently with Kara’s.

“So I talked to the commander today,” she said when the dance ended, even as his eyes drifted back to her.

“Oh? What about?”

“Transferring to the Pegasus with you,” Dee said, her tone sharp. They’d just talked about it this morning.

That got his attention. Dee swallowed as his face turned wary, guarded. “Oh. And?”

“He said no,” she lied.

Tigh, Cloud Nine (PG)

It was quiet now, most revelers paired off or passed out. Saul stroked Ellen’s hair as she slept. This was bliss, he thought. Cloud frakking nine. No cylons, no action stations.

Then a faint familiar voice pierced the silence. “Lee Adama loves Kara Thrace.”

Saul’s eyebrows rose and he started chuckling. He sobered quick enough, eyeing Anders face down in the dirt, and wondering if Bill had heard the plaintive cry. Those poor bastards.

Silence resumed. Saul began to consider that Apollo might just be the poorest bastard of all, but then he heard it:

“Kara Thrace loves Lee Adama.”

Sam, Fully Stimulated (PG)

When he woke up, Sam’s nerve endings tingled, his system fully stimulated, like he hadn’t slept at all. He wondered where Kara had slept, remembered seeing her last on the dance floor with Major Adama.

He headed in that direction, impatient to see her. This was it, the first day of the rest of their lives. Kara would miss the fleet, no doubt, but he wouldn’t. Sam had missed the sun’s warmth.

Then he saw them. Her and the major, hands intertwined, eyes locked on each other.

Anger and hurt bloomed quickly. Maybe Kara wouldn’t be missing it after all.

Bill, You’re the CAG (PG)

“Sir, I have a request,” Kara said slowly, like she knew he’d say no.

Bill hated to do it. This planet was tempting with its sunlight and its pleasures, but the fleet needed them.

“I’m sorry, Captain. I can’t let you go.” Bill took his glasses off, swiping them on his shirt. “You're the CAG, and it‘s important we maintain—“

“Sir,” Kara interjected and her tone lifted his head. Bill slipped the glasses on, finally noticing the way Starbuck was gripping his son’s hand, the look in Lee’s eyes.

His heart lurched.

“Permission to transfer to Pegasus, Sir?”

“Permission…granted.”

I love the different POVs. I wonder if Bill is wondering how Lee's going to deal with both Dee and Kara transferring. I also love the Baltar part. It always upset me that they seemed to forget the whole Kara sleeping with Baltar bit.

Ships in The Night (G)

As much as she hates shuttle duty, with its mind numbing sameness and hours (or in this case days) of waiting, she does love the time while they're sitting in the docking queue waiting their turn.

The dance of the other shuttles as they sweep and swing around the larger ship, the intricate patterns they make as they pass by one another and skillfully slip and settle into the bay in rapid harmony; it may not have the gut clenching intensity of Viper pulling three G's, but it is one of the most beautiful things she has ever seen.

***

Do You Wanna Dance? (PG)

The worst thing about promotion isn't the extra responsibility and endless paperwork, but the pomp and politicking that comes with it. As a Lieutenant all he had to do was report in and fly, but as soon as he got his Captain's pips he suddenly stuck in strategy sessions or attending conferences, like this stupid thing on some luxury liner full of government toadies wanting to cut spending and business executives looking for a slice of whatever was left.

But at least the booze was always free.

He was heading to the bar and that when he saw her. In a room full of black suits and gray uniforms she was wearing something soft and blue and slinky.

“Do you wanna dance?” he asked.

***

Cloud Nine (PG)

Sweet Hara, when did she turn into such a giggling girl? The dress was one thing, but that was just because she was off duty and if she had turned up in her uniform she would have spent the entire night stuck talking military funding with a bunch of dweeb heads who only thought in numbers.

The giggling though...

She's Starbuck for frak's sake. And it's not like she's never seen a guy in dress grays before...

Okay, maybe not one with a smile like that.

But still, one dance shouldn't leave her feeling like she was floating on clouds.

***

Fully Stimulated (PG-13)

This woman was amazing.

First there had been the dress that had left him stammering like a school boy, then there had been the way she fit in his arms while they were dancing, then there was the way she lit his nerves on fire with just a brush of her lips against his and then there was... well, everything that came after.

She was like a tight barrel roll into an end over end flip, the best sparkling wine and scoring the last second winning point all rolled into one.

Lee had never felt so stimulated in his life.

***

You're the CAG (PG-13)

They hadn't gone beyond first names last night. He was Lee, she was Kara and, honestly, the rest of it wasn't worth a damn (he hadn't minded that all she had moaned was “Oh, Lee” and she definitely didn't care that he had only chanted “Kara, Kara, frakking shit, Kara!”)

So the fact that her return passenger manifest said “Captain Adama” really meant nothing to her.

Of course that all changed the moment she looked up from doing her pre-flight check to see his bright blue eyes staring back at her.

“Oh, so you're the CAG.”

Captain Apollo (PG)

She sat at the bar wearing a blue dress and slowly smoking a cigarette. She could feel the eyes of the German officers roving over her body, but thankfully none of them dared to approached her.

“You hair is coming free from its clip.”

She turned around to meet the bluest eyes she had ever seen.

“Maybe I like it in disorder,” she challenge.

He smiled, “But if so charming, in disorder, what would it be if arranged?”

She stubbed out her cigarette and stood up, “I've been waiting for you, Apollo.”

“Lead on, Daphne.”

***

Beyond Insane (G)

A map was spread out on the rough farm house table, the group around it arguing in urgent, but hushed, tones.

“All I'm saying is that right now we can afford to hold for a day while we recheck the numbers.” Apollo said firmly, “If that supply train makes it in, then we'll be facing a much larger fight then we've planned for.”

“Why don't we just attack now,” she countered, “when we know the strength that we're up against.”

“Are you insane?” He roared before catching his breath. “No, you are beyond insane.”

***

Rescue Mission (G)

He knew that he was finished. He had been caught as a spy and the Nazis were cleaning their rifles right now in preparation for his execution first thing in the morning.

At least if they killed him it would put an end to the daily 'talks' with Sturmbannführer Leoban. The SS officer had an uncanny knack for getting under his skin.

Yes, he was resigned to his fate, but as the smell of peppermint came to him – followed by a thud as the guard outside his door fell – he thought that fate, or Kara, might just have other plans.

***

So Say We All (PG)

The summer heat was sweltering, but a chill ran over her skin as the newest radio transmission finished.

It had to be done, but still... how could she send all of her little boy scouts out to face death again?

“Did we get any new orders?” The clipped tones of Apollo's voice cut through her musings. Even after a year in the underground his accent still carried hints of his British training.

“They are calling it Akcja Taśma,” she replied, “They say we're going to burn the bastards out of this land.”

“So say we all.”

***

Viper (PG-13)

The Soviets were coming. That's what they had been repeating to one another, what they had placed their hope in as they watched their friends die in the streets, but now...

“Those lying vermin,” Lee was shouting, “Those fucking bloodsuckers.”

For days they had been camped in the center of the city waiting for reinforcements, but the Red Army just sat outside the city and waited.

There were rumors that Stalin had halted the army just so the Polish Home Army could be crushed and their motherland could be claimed by the Soviets.

“Those band of vipers!”

Bingo #1 Conversations of All Types

Date: 2012-05-02 05:15 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] angelicalangie.livejournal.com
First conversations - (kiss your ass)

“Did they kiss your ass to your liking.” Kara smirks and Lee looks over at her almost warning her.

“You said that to the Major the first time you saw him?” Hotdog's stunned and Kara barks out her trademark laugh.

“Well the first conversation we actually had wa...”

“Kara!” Lee interrupts her.

“That counts as second,” she turns to Hotdog smiling, “Two words … Girlfriend stealer.” Hotdog's mouth drops, “Ass kissing was the first on Galactica.”

Lee hunkers down in his seat, dark looks thrown at Kara, payback plotted as the action continues.

***

Confrontational Conversations - (most of the afternoon)

“You had to go there last night, didn't you.” Is isn't a question, it's an accusation, Lee's eyes are dark thinking of how to pay her back for that small tidbit of information working it's way around the decks.

Kara smiles, “Oh c'mon Apollo, it's not like it is doing your rep any harm.”

Lee looks at her her, “That's not the point, and you know it.”

She turns and smiles, voice lowers and she closes the space between them. “You've spent most of the afternoon thinking on this haven't you? So what's my punishment, Lee?”

***

Reminiscent Conversations - (Free Space reunion)

Clothes are pulled off in a rush. A tangle of tongues stoking a fire and hands run down flanks, trying to find the piece of skin that will soothe their needs. He lifts her and her ass rests on the cold surface of the table. The cold only serves to fuel her. Her hands drag him to her.

Time passes, noises of pleasure rise from two bodies seeking home in each other.

More time passes and they begin replacing clothes.

“Bit of a reunion of sorts.”

“Hmmm?” Kara replies

“Us and tables.” He grins, she sighs contentedly.

***

Psychological Conversations - (beyond insane)

She drags him out of the busy corridor and straight into a storage area, dogging it's hatch as she goes.

“Are you ...” The rest is muffled and for a moment his eyes go wide as she kisses him, snaking a hand into his hair and pulling him to her, pressing her body closer and closer before pushing him against the nearest vertical surface.

Afterwards as they dress, he finally speaks; “You are clearly beyond insane, Kara.”

“When did you not know this, Lee?” She replies laughing

He smirks, “I'm happy to come along for the ride now.”

***

Historical Conversations - (War's over, we lost)

“D'you know what Roslin said my father the first time she met him?” He is toys with a glass as he speaks. “War's over, we lost.” He rolls the glass on the table top.

“Bleak, but true.” Kara raises her eyebrows, Ambrosia warming dulling her emotional responses.

“History is written by the victors, and that's the Cylons. So what will history say about us?”

Kara look at Lee and fails in response.

“We got caught with our pants down.” He finally states.

She's said it herself a few times, she just wishes it wasn't true.

war's over, we lost

When she come back, Kara's first thought is how bleak everything looks. The settlements, if you could call them that, are divided. Humans on one side of the river, Cylons on the other.

She hasn't gotten the whole story yet. Just that something happened, something major and the humans drove the Cylons—and anyone who sided with them—out.

They're suspicious of her right from the start. Word of her, what she is, what she might be, how she disappeared has apparently spread.

She hates their eyes on her as she walks through town. She just needs to find Lee.

**

in hack

As it turns out, he finds her. They don't tell her what she did wrong—it could have been anything. Looked at someone funny, made some comment under her breath that got overheard.

That's how she finds herself in the little hut that serves as the jail, feeling déjà vu.

She almost doesn't recognize him in the dim light when he comes in. His hair's longer and he has a beard, but it's Lee all right, scrutinizing her through the bars.

"Kara?" he whispers. "Is that really you?"

"It's really me." She stands slowly. "Glad they thought to call you."

**

secretary of education

He gives a snort of mirthless laughter. "They had to, actually. I'm… it's kind of my job."

"Getting people out of jail?"

He crouches down so that they're at eye level. "Kara… I'm the President."

"You're what?" she snaps. "How could you let this happen?"

"Not here," he says softly. "On the other side."

"Oh." Kara sits back, surprised. "Just didn't take you for the type."

"What, to be President at all, or go with the Cylons."

She smirks. "You're no secretary of education."

This cuts through his mask and he smiles. "Come on. Let's get you out of here."

**

retirement prank

Across the river, things aren't much better, but at least no one's afraid of her. She doesn't understand how this could still happen, even all these years later.

If she ever wondered why Lee was over here, that was answered instantly the moment he lets her into his house and she sees Saul Tigh there. The pieces fall into place instantly.

Oddly, he doesn't seem surprised to see her.

"Thought you'd come back," he muttered. "Thought maybe you were just playing a trick on us, the way you disappeared and all."

"I think it's a bit more complicated than that."

**

lieutenant Gaeta

"Well, complicated's good." He slides a drink her way across the table. "Best stuff we got—better than what they got on the other side, mind you."

"What happened?" she suddenly blurts out.

Tigh frowns, his features set. He looks at Lee, who nods.

"Thought maybe people'd get over it, with the mutiny and all." Tigh's gaze is far away and Kara remembers that day. She still can't believe Gaeta would do that, but she supposes you never really know someone.

"What happened?"

Tigh takes a long sip, seeming to steel himself. "They came for us. Middle of the night."
From: [identity profile] plaid-slytherin.livejournal.com
Captain Apollo

Kara feels a chill shoot down her spine and she looks at Lee, who nods confirmation. "They were pounding on the door, so I got up to see what they wanted. They pushed me aside; said they were after him." He nods at Tigh.

"You should have seen him." Tigh is grinning in admiration, something she never thought she'd see. "Every inch Apollo. Says, 'If you're gonna do anything for my stepfather, you got to get through me first.'"

Lee looks thoroughly embarrassed; Kara laughs. It obviously helps them to cast a painful memory in somewhat of a silly light.

**

beyond insane

"The whole thing was beyond insane," Lee says. "We didn't know what was going on."

"But we knew we had to get out," Tigh says firmly. "We didn't have the upper hand and I didn't want my family in danger. We knew there were a bunch of Cylons over here anyway, so we left."

"Who's we?" Kara asks. She's noticing an absence and it's making her nervous.

Tigh takes another swig. "Us and the Agathons. Baltar, Caprica. Out of all the humans, only Hot Dog stood up and said how crazy it was. He's here, too. Him and his kid."

**

rescue mission

"No one else?"

Tigh rubs his face. "No. No one else."

Her heart sinks.

"What about—?"

"Oh, Bill?" Tigh's eyebrows rise. "Thought you knew. He came with us, of course. He's at work. He's fine, though…" Tigh pauses. "Like I said. It got ugly."

"What happened?"

Tigh looks at Lee again, his eye saying what he can't. Lee takes the cue from his stepfather (Kara still marvels at that) and continues the story.

"They wanted to arrest him. One of the mutineers, from Pegasus. A friend of his died during the rescue mission, at the end. He blamed Dad."

**

so say we all

"Oh, you're being generous," Tigh mutters. "Blamed him for a hell of a lot more than that. Even went back to that first lie about Earth, all the way up to marrying a Cylon. He had the whole crowd whipped up into a frenzy."

"And we had to get out of there," Lee adds. "We had kids, and Dad was hurt. There was no other decision we could make."

"I would've stood my ground." Tigh sounds disappointed in himself. "But we just kind of looked at each other and it was like so-say-we-all-that's-that. We ran. Like a bunch of cowards."

**

viper

"I don't think so," Kara says. "You made the right decision." She looks at both of them, knowing fully how capable of brave—stupid—decisions they both are. But a Viper pilot learns soon enough the difference between smart and brave (not that she ever did).

"Cylons took us in," Tigh goes on. "It's not so bad. Lee sure keeps busy enough."

"How did that happen?" she prods.

"They kind of nominated me. Well, first they nominated Dad, and then Saul, but neither of them would do it." He shrugs. "So then they looked at my background and nominated me."
