We had a few great bingos yesterday:

Laughter by [livejournal.com profile] embolalia [NC-17]
A Good Defense by [livejournal.com profile] sci_fi_shipper [PG-13]

ETA: Unexpected Pleasures by [livejournal.com profile] taragel [NC-17]

The Pre-min cards are still open for bingos, although they won't be counted towards a banner any longer. Today's cards are open and winning a banner for the most drabbles is still quite possible! <3

Miniseries and Season One
Many of the prompts on today's cards are snippets of dialogue spoken by Kara or Lee or other characters that I thought might make for interesting pilot drabbles. In using those, you do NOT have to use the dialogue in the drabble, but can instead just capture the flavor of the scene or interaction where the dialogue was used. If you do use the dialogue, you MUST RE-PURPOSE IT because none of the dialogue can be used in its original context - see THE TWIST below. :P

The Twist
The same basic bingo rules from yesterday apply, except that you CANNOT use any of the prompts on today's cards for drabbles that take place during the Miniseries or Season One. For example, if you write a drabble for the word "retirement prank" you cannot set it anywhere in the Miniseries or S1. You can always go AU for any drabble.

Banners will be up later when my computer stops crashing. :)

Do you have to use the prompts in order left to right or up to down or vice versa? Or can you use them in any order?

Do we have to use the squares in line order or can we mix them up?

Bingo #2 - Seeing is Believing

Baltar, Ships in the Night (PG)

Gaius stifled a yawn as Felix yammered on about the groundbreaking ceremony. He had a doctorate in artificial intelligence, for goodness sake. He could surely handle shoveling some dirt.

Bored, his gaze strayed to the foursome nearby. Starbuck and that ballplayer, Apollo and Dualla. His eyes gravitated to Kara, catching how her smile widened as she looked from her date to the Major. His gut twisted with old shame.

For just a moment, Gaius considered pulling the pyramid jock aside, warning him. But he dismissed it as Starbuck and her entourage sailed past him, oblivious like ships in the night.

Dee, you wanna dance? (PG)

She held the secret close, giddy with excitement, as they whirled around the dance floor. Breathless she pulled over and watched Apollo dance with Starbuck. Lee’s smile faded, his grip white-knuckled on her arm, eyes locked intently with Kara’s.

“So I talked to the commander today,” she said when the dance ended, even as his eyes drifted back to her.

“Oh? What about?”

“Transferring to the Pegasus with you,” Dee said, her tone sharp. They’d just talked about it this morning.

That got his attention. Dee swallowed as his face turned wary, guarded. “Oh. And?”

“He said no,” she lied.

Tigh, Cloud Nine (PG)

It was quiet now, most revelers paired off or passed out. Saul stroked Ellen’s hair as she slept. This was bliss, he thought. Cloud frakking nine. No cylons, no action stations.

Then a faint familiar voice pierced the silence. “Lee Adama loves Kara Thrace.”

Saul’s eyebrows rose and he started chuckling. He sobered quick enough, eyeing Anders face down in the dirt, and wondering if Bill had heard the plaintive cry. Those poor bastards.

Silence resumed. Saul began to consider that Apollo might just be the poorest bastard of all, but then he heard it:

“Kara Thrace loves Lee Adama.”

Sam, Fully Stimulated (PG)

When he woke up, Sam’s nerve endings tingled, his system fully stimulated, like he hadn’t slept at all. He wondered where Kara had slept, remembered seeing her last on the dance floor with Major Adama.

He headed in that direction, impatient to see her. This was it, the first day of the rest of their lives. Kara would miss the fleet, no doubt, but he wouldn’t. Sam had missed the sun’s warmth.

Then he saw them. Her and the major, hands intertwined, eyes locked on each other.

Anger and hurt bloomed quickly. Maybe Kara wouldn’t be missing it after all.

Bill, You’re the CAG (PG)

“Sir, I have a request,” Kara said slowly, like she knew he’d say no.

Bill hated to do it. This planet was tempting with its sunlight and its pleasures, but the fleet needed them.

“I’m sorry, Captain. I can’t let you go.” Bill took his glasses off, swiping them on his shirt. “You're the CAG, and it‘s important we maintain—“

“Sir,” Kara interjected and her tone lifted his head. Bill slipped the glasses on, finally noticing the way Starbuck was gripping his son’s hand, the look in Lee’s eyes.

His heart lurched.

“Permission to transfer to Pegasus, Sir?”

“Permission…granted.”

I love the different POVs. I wonder if Bill is wondering how Lee's going to deal with both Dee and Kara transferring. I also love the Baltar part. It always upset me that they seemed to forget the whole Kara sleeping with Baltar bit.

Thanks bb! Yes, if i'd had more room, Bill totally would have mused abuot how this was his SECOND request to transfer to Pegasus of the day. ;) Hee poor Baltar and his wounded pride.

I love all the different POVs. Baltar was particularly insightful, but he has more experience than most. ;)

I love the structure of this, all the perspectives on pilots and the things beyond their awareness that support them getting together that last little bit! And they made it work! :)

Bingo #1 - "On the Ocean of Life"

Ships in The Night (G)

As much as she hates shuttle duty, with its mind numbing sameness and hours (or in this case days) of waiting, she does love the time while they're sitting in the docking queue waiting their turn.

The dance of the other shuttles as they sweep and swing around the larger ship, the intricate patterns they make as they pass by one another and skillfully slip and settle into the bay in rapid harmony; it may not have the gut clenching intensity of Viper pulling three G's, but it is one of the most beautiful things she has ever seen.

***

Do You Wanna Dance? (PG)

The worst thing about promotion isn't the extra responsibility and endless paperwork, but the pomp and politicking that comes with it. As a Lieutenant all he had to do was report in and fly, but as soon as he got his Captain's pips he suddenly stuck in strategy sessions or attending conferences, like this stupid thing on some luxury liner full of government toadies wanting to cut spending and business executives looking for a slice of whatever was left.

But at least the booze was always free.

He was heading to the bar and that when he saw her. In a room full of black suits and gray uniforms she was wearing something soft and blue and slinky.

“Do you wanna dance?” he asked.

***

Cloud Nine (PG)

Sweet Hara, when did she turn into such a giggling girl? The dress was one thing, but that was just because she was off duty and if she had turned up in her uniform she would have spent the entire night stuck talking military funding with a bunch of dweeb heads who only thought in numbers.

The giggling though...

She's Starbuck for frak's sake. And it's not like she's never seen a guy in dress grays before...

Okay, maybe not one with a smile like that.

But still, one dance shouldn't leave her feeling like she was floating on clouds.

***

Fully Stimulated (PG-13)

This woman was amazing.

First there had been the dress that had left him stammering like a school boy, then there had been the way she fit in his arms while they were dancing, then there was the way she lit his nerves on fire with just a brush of her lips against his and then there was... well, everything that came after.

She was like a tight barrel roll into an end over end flip, the best sparkling wine and scoring the last second winning point all rolled into one.

Lee had never felt so stimulated in his life.

***

You're the CAG (PG-13)

They hadn't gone beyond first names last night. He was Lee, she was Kara and, honestly, the rest of it wasn't worth a damn (he hadn't minded that all she had moaned was “Oh, Lee” and she definitely didn't care that he had only chanted “Kara, Kara, frakking shit, Kara!”)

So the fact that her return passenger manifest said “Captain Adama” really meant nothing to her.

Of course that all changed the moment she looked up from doing her pre-flight check to see his bright blue eyes staring back at her.

“Oh, so you're the CAG.”

Awww... I love seeing other people's perspectives on Kara and Lee. I love the turnabout in Sam's, and I REALLY loved Tigh overhearing them. <3 This just made me so happy. UGH I WANT HAPPY PILOTS.
