DPP Wednesday! Fight for Your Right to Multi-ship.

Some of us are die-hard 'Kara/Lee or no one!' shippers. Some of us have soft spots for the other relationships Kara and Lee ended up in throughout the series. And some may main-ship Kara or Lee with someone else entirely, but have been swayed by this lovely community to start understanding just why we love Starbuck and Apollo together.

So let's have at it!

Make your best case for who Lee and Kara belong with, other than each other.

Try to convince your fellow shippers why you love another pairing. Is there someone else Kara and Lee really connect with? Why? Although we know their other (established) relationships don't really work out towards the end of the show, do you think they would have, had the situations been different? Is there anyone on the show that you thought would have made a great significant other or frak buddy for either of them (but the writers just never went there)? Maybe some of us don't understand why you ship Kara and ?, or Lee and ?, so give us your best attempt at leading us over to the dark side.

If you're one of the dedicated few who can't see them with anyone else, then let's hear why you can't even begin to think of them apart!

My brain lives in a completely different world as the rest of the universe, obviously. Where queer is just a thing that happens WTF is the big deal?

Obviously my brain is more highly evolved. :P

*shrug* IDK. I mean I know society is in a place where bisexuality/homosexuality/pansexuality... whatever label you want to put on it is a BIG DEAL. I wish it wasn't that way... *sigh*

I mean, it may be different now but for a long time I felt like I was the only one. For some reason most of the queer ladies were hanging out in the Kara/Sam camp.

I do think that Sam's being somewhat emotionally okay with Kara's running around felt very polyamorous, which might be a more queer state of mind?

I think that's probably why. And like I said, I tend to have that mindset for almost every other show I watch. Ship ALL the things. But for some reason, Kara and Lee have just captured my heart in a way that I cannot let go of. Though using them as a way to fill the void is probably not healthy. :)

Watching BSG is so strange sometimes. Because -- it's so queer...but it's so not?

YES!! It was sort of like they wanted there to be no minorities of any type so the only minority was Cylon but they couldn't fully leave the mindset of the world we live in behind so the things they were trying to do came across as worse than if they hadn't tried anything. Or something like that.

I think it's usually because of a very intense Kara love.

They love her so much, she's their OTC and they like that with Sam she gets to always be the more important character in canon and he never tries to challenge her in any way. Kara always "wins" with/in relation to Sam.

With Lee... he does challenge her, he has his own life (with Dee) and his own opinions and his own temper and anger that he expresses when she hurts him somehow. And all of that tends to...infringe on Kara a little? I mean they are purposely developed as foils to each other early in the series and they clash on so many levels and a lot of folks who really feel Kara is their OTC bristle when Lee strikes out at her in any way rather than enjoying it as a challenging, complicated relationship between two people who are both frakked up and issue laden, and capable of both hurting and being hurt.

Nothing ever hurts Sam. He walks away from her time and again when things look like they're getting too difficult. Lee, on the other hand, sticks around or comes back for more even, but he does express anger and jealousy when he's hurt by her, even if he should know better.

Probably it would have been no big deal at all! I was just wondering since the actors had so much control of shaping their characters' relationships and interactions how she might have talked about it interviews or whatever. I mean I think we all know Katee had clear preferences abt Sam v Lee so I just wonder how it would have or wouldn't have changed her perceptions?

Well her opinion on that changed so many times over the years... hell there was an interview where she said she thought the only person Kara could really be herself around was Leoben.

I think it was discussed somewhere else (between KAG and Embolalia I think and maybe at 13th_tribe) that Katee and also Kara are multi shippers in a way, so identifying with them works for that.

True. She seemed very of the moment with her changing thoughts, though lately far more Pro Kara/Sam (at least when talking abt Daybreak).

She's said often enough that she wanted Kara to be with someone at the end, and since the only "someone" who could be even interpreted as being in the same place as Kara post-poof is Sam, I suppose she plumped for that and is sticking with it now.

And the fact that there is no more of the show post-Daybreak means she's got nothing to make her change her mind (which she did, and often - I remember her saying she thought Kara and Sam were like brother and sister, and pretty much finished, around the time S3 ended/S4 began). I honestly think her answer would have been very different if it hadn't been for the poof.

Well she's always smacking down people on Twitter who like her and Lee and saying that though she respects their opinion Kara was with Sam at the end, playing pyramid in heaven, blah blah blah.

I honestly think that is her personal post-finale retcon to reconcile herself to the poof. Because she certainly didn't always believe it, and she's admitted to changing her mind a lot over the course of the show.

(I mean, she considered Baltar -!!!- a possible otp for Kara at one point...lol)
