YOUR PERSONAL PILOTS BACKSTORY
It's time to dig into your head!canon about the events that take place before the series. For the themes and/or questions below, tell us your head!canon. Doesn't matter if it's the same as someone else's because I think everyone's way of thinking about pilots gives a new perspective. And it does not have to fit in canon or even be all that realistic. Just go for it!

If you don't have a personal head!canon (even though I think everyone does to some extent), rec a fic that tells an element of their backstory in a way that you like (or has become your head!canon). If it's a multi-chapter fic, reccing a specific chapter would be great, as I think we've all probably read just about everything.

What was Kara and Lee's relationship before Zak's death?
Kara tried to keep her relationship with Zak really casual. Not only was their relationship not entirely in line with frat regs, but Kara was used to being burned. Zak was much more serious about Kara and was totally serious about them marrying. Kara never answered him when he was alive. Being Zak's fiance was part of her penance.

How were Kara and Lee individually informed of Zak's death?
Kara watched his viper crash. Lee was in formed by either his mother or a superior officer, depending on my mood and the story I'm telling in my head.

How did Kara and Lee interact during and right after the funeral?
Kara and Lee avoided each other like the plague during the funeral. They had drunken guilt riddled sex after.

What did Lee do in the two years after the accident?
Lee tried to focus on school and his obligation to the military and doing normal things like dating Gianne.

Why didn't pilots see each other for two years?
Kara chose Bill knowing it would keep Lee away. Lee let her.
