YOUR PERSONAL PILOTS BACKSTORY
It's time to dig into your head!canon about the events that take place before the series. For the themes and/or questions below, tell us your head!canon. Doesn't matter if it's the same as someone else's because I think everyone's way of thinking about pilots gives a new perspective. And it does not have to fit in canon or even be all that realistic. Just go for it!
If you don't have a personal head!canon (even though I think everyone does to some extent), rec a fic that tells an element of their backstory in a way that you like (or has become your head!canon). If it's a multi-chapter fic, reccing a specific chapter would be great, as I think we've all probably read just about everything.
If you are so inclined, write a fic that shows us. *bribes your muse*
I've grouped the themes and questions into comments below - reply to those to keep things vaguely organized so we can all discuss. I'm excited to read everyone's theories and I hope fic will be inspired along the way!

Date: 2011-09-20 03:57 pm (UTC)Kara was kind of a wild child and very much a jock. She hid the fact that she was artistic and did well in her classes as much as possible.
What was Kara's first job?
She was too busy with pyramid, painting and homework.
Why did Kara join the military? Did she consider other things?
Kara had been offered a pyramid scholarship by the academy and they still wanted her after she blew out her knee. Also as mush as she nevere wanted to admit it the discipline of the military was very comforting for her. (Teaching was part of her scholarship which is how she became a flight instructor.)
What were Kara's struggles at the Academy? What were her successes?
Kara had a really hard time not rebelling for no reason. She was happy at the academy but she was still restless and didn't ever quit figure out how to resolve that, hence her many nights in hack. Kara was very successful in the cockpit and in most of her classes, making it confusing to her superiors why she was always acting out and getting into trouble.
