From:Ficlet: Spin [Warning... Lame]
Date: 2011-09-08 06:13 pm (UTC)They spin and the bottle points.
Lee and Kara don’t get pulled into playing, but they chuckle when the others whoop and fall over each other making smacking lip noises.
The youngsters spin, kiss and drink. Some of them sloping off in the wee hours to shove boots outside the door.
Eventually, it goes quiet as more and more people fall into a stupor or shift off clumsily to bed. Tired and needing to follow suit, Kara stands and calls it a night after Lee looses in their own game of Triad.
Just as she gets to the door however, he calls her back. She looks over her shoulder to find he’s carefully holding the bottle that they’d drained together in his hands.
“Double or nothing?” he asks slowly.
Kara doesn’t speak.
After a moment she holds out her one hand and points at him, then gestures for him to follow.
Lee doesn't need the bottle.

From:Kiss It Better?
Date: 2011-09-08 06:28 pm (UTC)Bending down, he could just see her protruding legs from beneath its hull. He gave one a gentle nudge.
"Everything OK in there, Starbuck?"
Sliding out with a sigh, she held her thumb up for his inspection. He could see where the skin was already swelling and beginning to bruise.
"Jammed it trying to wrench loose the rusty nut." She grit out, clearly pained. "Frakking panels are too small to navigate in."
Reaching out to her uninjured hand, he helped pull her to her feet.
"C'mon, let's go show Cottle." His fingers encircled her wrist as he lifted the mangled digit close to his face trying to asses the damage.
Yanking away quickly, she shook her head. "No frakking way, Apollo! It's a jam. It's fine. There's nothing he can do."
He hesitated before following her to Cally's toolbox where she was rummaging for a smaller wrench. Fumbling over the words, he stumbled out, "Is there anything I can do?"
Surprised by the earnestness in his voice, she stopped and offered him a conspiratory smile. Lowering her voice so that only he could hear she asked wickedly, "Wanna kiss it better for me?"
Immediately, he took the injured hand between his and lifted it reverently it his lips. The touch was gentle against the abused skin. His eyes never left hers. "Better? He whispered.
Unable to find her voice, she just nodded in stunned silence.
Lowering her hand slowly, he grinned, "Anything else?"
Embarrassed by how much that small kiss had affected her she struggled to hide her blush. Turning with the new wrench in hand, she headed back to her bird.
"Stick around," She laughed as she disappeared beneath the viper. "It's dangerous under this thing and I have a feeling that I just might hurt myself again any second."

From:Ficlet: Bookends - or, two times they didn't kiss, and one time they did (R - warning for pain)
Date: 2011-09-08 06:50 pm (UTC)The first time they almost kissed had been hot and full of desire and Lee had never wanted anything in his life as much as he had wanted Kara in that moment.
It wasn't the alcohol, though it was a convenient excuse, because he had felt a pull to her from the moment that Kara had opened the door.
They had almost forgotten about Zak in the heat of the moment, but he'd woken and in the end a handshake was as close as he and Kara had come to the kiss they both wanted.
--break--
Lee winced as Kara desperately tried to unbutton his tunic and instead caught him squarely in the deep purple bruise that she'd given him in the boxing. "Ow! Gods, Kara, gently."
"Crybaby," She crowed, smirking at his discomfort.
Shaking his head, trying to think clearly for a moment, he sought out the places on her torso that he knew were bruised, kissing her roughly at first, causing her to gasp with pain, then gently in the same places before moving slowly to her neck until the gasps of pain turned to pleasure. He whispered softly in her ear, "I missed you."
--break--
Now there's only heaviness and the weight of so much sadness. Lee feels desperate to reach out and fix Kara to himself and this new world.
This time there's no tantalising promise of a kiss. Now there's no handshake. No last moment of contact, just an attempt by Kara to misdirect him, distract him so that the moment when he discovers she has gone is put off slightly. So he doesn't have to see her go.
He turns to face the emptiness and promises that she won't be forgotten. In that moment he swears he can feel her warmth one last time.

From:Ficlets: Their Nights [Rating: T ish]
Date: 2011-09-08 07:07 pm (UTC)There’s no build up, no story, they’re just kissing. Kissing like their lives depend upon it. Kissing like this is the last day they might ever see - a notion that's been fortified in them as pilots during the war. So they grasp hold of one another like a sensual lifeline; clutching at each other and at the moment for who knows what tomorrow may hold. Tomorrow is something so far away from now that the thought of the dawn is mercifully something neither of them can begin to think about when their hands are everywhere… cupping… teasing… caressing.
###
2
Kara curls over him, deepening their kiss… lengthening it. She doesn’t come up for air at all, just bites harder and harder, sliding her lips across his and snaking her tongue in slickly; dancing around his like their Vipers did in the air. Lee for his part is drowning, drowning the most amazing sensations of heat and lust he’s ever felt in his life.
Their breaths are one and their bodies are so close as to be the same.
For this is their night. It will always be their night… as the cool night air of New Caprica ghosts over their limbs and the shifting shadows created by the moonlight.

From:Ficlet: Laws of Attraction - Part 1
Date: 2011-09-08 09:30 pm (UTC)Lee can't keep his eyes off her.
They're supposed to be working. Tracing a suspected cylon--if it's true, this one is the sixth model, so half down, half to go--on a very serious, potentially very dangerous mission.
But Lee's eyes only manage to skip briefly around the Cloud 9 bar's dance floor before they're drawn, like he's got magnets in his pupils or something, back to Kara.
Kara in a dress.
Not the blue floaty number she wore on Colonial Day. This one's black, shiny and tight, cut low on her chest and high on her thigh, and infinitely more Kara, if such a thing could be said about a cocktail dress. But the fabric is inconsequential really, because what he remembers most about that night--and he refuses to think about what'd happened after--isn't the visuals. What haunts his brain, even now, nearly eight months after the dance, after the fight and Caprica and Kobol and Pegasus, is the heat of her body, the softness of her skin, the swing of her hips under his hands.
Lee wonders if there's magnets in his fingertips too, because they twitch on her hips now at the memory, pulsing with the desire to slide down and touch that skin flashing through the slit of her skirt. See if it's as smooth and supple as he remembers.
"Would you frakking quit it?" she hisses, interrupting his reverie.
Guiltily, his eyes skip up to hers again. "What?"
"We're supposed to be looking for that skinjob, remember?"
Belatedly, he lets his gaze skim the perimeter of the bar again. "I was. I-I am."
Polarity takes over again and his eyes snap back to Kara's face. The slightest hint of a smirk curves her red-lipsticked mouth. "Trust me, Apollo, this hand-me-down is three frakking sizes too small." She reaches a hand down and tugs the plunging neckline on the dress she loaned from Showboat a bit higher. "I'm not hiding him in here."
His face heats and his voice is low. Unprepared to be called on it, he offers the simple truth. "You look nice."
Kara's eyebrows lift. A surprised smile flashes at him and his fingers grasp her a little tighter, pull her a little closer. "Yeah?" She chuckles, maybe at him, Maybe at herself, and shakes her head. "Well, enjoy the view now, flyboy, because this is--"
"A twice-in-a-lifetime opportunity?"
Memory makes her eyes widen and her face soften, then she shifts a little closer, her hands pressing on his shoulders. Everything goes still as Lee holds her eyes, anticipation coiling in his stomach. But in the corner of the room, something flickers, like a gnat buzzing in his peripheral vision as he stares back at Kara.
She has this look on her face, one that he doesn't think he's ever seen before, which is fairly impressive because Lee's exhaustive and meticulously kept mental catalogue of Kara's expressions numbers in the thousands by now. His favorite has always been the very first one she wore: the apartment door swinging open to reveal her face, surrounded by a burst of bright colors (a painting on the wall that has gone fuzzy and indistinct now, merely backdrop to the real masterpiece), a polite smile being eclipsed by something more, something deeper. But now, in this very moment, it finds a rival.
His breath catches. Her lips part. She says, eyes gleaming, voice barely a whisper, "Maybe..."
~To be continued~
Re: Ficlet: Laws of Attraction - Part 2
Date: 2011-09-08 09:33 pm (UTC)Then panic replaces everything else for one small moment, but Lee's instincts, for preservation, for...other things, take over. Swiftly, he lifts his hands to Kara's face, palms against her cheeks, fingers delving into her hair, and he kisses her. Not soft, not hard. Just...enough. Steady pressure of his lips pressing hers, slightly sticky from the lipstick. He doesn't like the artifical taste of it, never has so he presses harder, opens his mouth against hers, and Kara does the same. Her hands are cupping his neck, thumbs stroking along the sides of his jaw. The feel of it stokes the fire building in his blood, and he runs his tongue along the soft inner flesh of her lower lip. Her mouth opens wider, a soft sound issuing from her throat, and Kara twines her tongue with his. The short nails on her fingers dig into his shoulders through his borrowed sportsjacket. Lee wants the kiss to last forever.
But duty calls.
He pulls his mouth away and they part, Kara's eyes opening. She shudders, her mouth still open, staring at him with big eyes. The skin around her lips and nose is flushed, and again it takes all his willpower not to close the distance, cover that red skin with his own mouth. But he somehow manages to resist this impulse, his eyes skipping over to the corner again.
"What the hell was that?" she says, her voice hoarse.
"The cylon. He saw us. Looked right at me." Lee hates the way his own voice sounds. Stiff and clipped and cold. The CAG's voice. "I didn't want to blow our cover."
Her mouth snaps shut and she swallows. Kara's arms drop and she steps back, leaving his own hands hovering uselessly in the air for a second. Lee's quick thinking might have salvaged their undercover mission, but it blew something alright. She's more Starbuck, less Kara when she finally speaks. "Right. So where the frak did he go?"
They can't find him. He's not in the bar, not in the corridor, not in the gardens. Lee's stomach churns with every step they take in silence. With one stupid impulsive move, he's managed to frak things up all over again. Maybe worse than he did after Colonial Day, even though this time no one's bleeding. Yet.
Two endless hours later they've searched Cloud 9 from top to bottom. He's nowhere on the frakking ship. Lee phones his father to let him know and Bill reacts just exactly as he expect. If Cloud 9 had a brig, Lee thinks it'd probably have gotten two more visitors tonight.
But it doesn't, so he and Kara head for their quarters to grab their things. She is silent, and his eyes are still frakking drawn to her again and again as they walk back. The pit in his stomach grows and grows, and he just wants to know what she's thinking. She throws open the door to the guestroom with more force than necessary and he flinches as he follows. His eyes skip to the king size bed, which he's positive didn't take up quite this much of the room last night. His gaze slides to Kara again, and she's staring at the smooth coverlet too.
Lee inhales shakily. He's not sure what to say, but he needs to break this frakking silence somehow. "Kara, about the k--"
The word is cut off by her mouth, covering his. They kiss, just as dizzying and intense as before, his arms wrapping around Kara, her hands sliding from the lapels of his jacket up to cup his neck again. His skin tingles where her thumbs brush the line of his jaw once more.
Kara's the one who pulls away first this time, and when she does, it's only to whisper in his ear.
"Twice in a lifetime doesn't come around too often, Lee." Her smile is the only thing he can see, as she wraps a hand around his tie and tugs, backing towards that bed. She pulls him down on top of her, his whole body stretching and fitting into Kara's like it was designed specifically for this sole purpose.
White hot bliss sizzles through him, washing everything else away. But just as everything fades, Lee thinks he hears it, humming in the minimal space between their bodies, the sound barely audible.
It's the quiet snick-snick of magnets locking into place.

Date: 2011-09-09 03:36 am (UTC)Sealed with a kiss
Date: 2011-09-09 04:44 pm (UTC)Out of all the unexpected stunts he had seen from Kara Thrace over the years, this one was rivaled only by the news of her impromptu wedding on New Caprica. He was completely unprepared to it , as he was well on his way to resign himself to go on as if that possibility had never been on the table and those few weeks of hidden encounters , untamed passion and unbridled hope for the future hadn’t been more than a ridiculous folly.
“My Gods, Kara. How do I know that tomorrow you’re not gonna pull …”
Kara didn’t allow him to finish that thought, as she grabbed him roughly by the neck and pulled him into a desperate, overpowering kiss, more intense and heartfelt than any they had shared before. What little resolve not to go down that path again he ever had didn’t last more than a second and he felt himself plunge into the abyss of emotions and sensations with her, deepening the kiss and pressing their bodies firmly together.
The kiss seemed to go on forever until they were both breathless.
No sooner had the sensory onslaught stopped, though, their foreheads still pressed together, and the reality of their situation along with his doubts and fears started to creep into Lee’s mind, hope and the need for self-preservation fighting for control.
“What the hell was that?”, he mumbled.
“You figure it out, Lee. It’s what you do best.” And she turned to leave.
Sealed with a kiss - part 2
Date: 2011-09-09 04:47 pm (UTC)“No way. You’re not leaving now. We need to talk, Kara.”
He cupped her face and tilted her chin up so he could look deep into her eyes, searching.
“You really mean it.”
It sounded more like a question than a statement and his reluctance to take her words and actions at face value was quickly undermining her confidence this was the right thing to do.
He kept touching her face, though, his eyes never wavering from hers, his hands preventing hers from doing so. He wanted to reach deep into her soul and it made her feel terribly exposed and vulnerable. She hated it and every instinct in her was screaming at her to run.
“It’s a once in lifetime opportunity, Apollo. Don’t blow it. ”, Starbuck smirked.
“This is not the time for a joke, Kara. These are our frakking marriages we’re talking about.” He could feel his anger returning.
Her own anger was threatening to take charge .
“ I’m willing to do it, OK? ”
“If you are.”
Amazingly, it was the hesitant way she added that, eyes downcast and voice barely more than a whisper that finally convinced him.
She is afraid, too. That single realization pushed him forward. He couldn’t ask her to jump off the cliff by herself. They needed to be together. Together, they were unbeatable. Of that he was sure.
“No takebacks?”, he prodded , smiling at last.
She noticed the change in him and grinned back, confidently.
“No takebacks.”
“It’s a deal, then.”, he added, extending his hand and pushing her nearer.
And they sealed it with a kiss.
Re: Sealed with a kiss - part 2
Date: 2011-09-09 06:02 pm (UTC)Oh, this is so perfect! I just love it. :)
Right in the Kisser (Part One)
Date: 2011-09-10 01:07 am (UTC)She knows the sound of flesh meeting flesh, the sharp contact that snaps a head sideways, the dull suffusing heat under skin that will bruise in the morning.
She knows that sometimes, they mask more pain than they deliver.
This knowledge is the only thing that stops her from turning around and hauling off with another right cross when Lee’s voice breaks as he asks, “Why’d you do it, Kara? Just tell me why!”
She’s still furious too though, so she rounds on him, exploding. “What do you even care, Lee? You just said it: you don’t want a thing from me. And you sure as hell made that clear enough last night.” Kara winces, not because of her cheek but for the embarrassingly bitter tone that’s suddenly crept into her voice.
She hopes he’ll let it go.
It’s Lee Adama. He doesn’t.
He does reach out and grab her arm, spinning her back to him. It’s almost like dancing, she thinks for a second, and almost starts choking on the irony, laughter bubbling up. She tamps it down and Lee frowns when he sees the residual smirk and just seems to get angrier. “What the hell is that supposed to mean?”
“You know what. Forget it.” Kara says, feeling wearier now that the hysterical laughter has faded. “You wanna know why? Because I’m a screwup, Lee. Try to remember that.”
She tries to pull her arm away and leave but Lee’s fingers just tighten like a vice grip and he leans in, his voice deadly. “Don’t, Kara. At least do me the courtesy of giving me a real frakking answer here. Don’t you dare pull that self-pitying bullshit on me and try to walk away.”
Her temper flares again, and she sneers, “Because that’s your job, right?”
“What?” His eyebrows nearly shoot into his hairline. “What the frak are you talking about?”
“You’re the one who walked away. Last night. Again. Just like you always do.”
“Just like I--?!” He stops, his voice climbing high enough to boom throughout the mostly empty hangar, but the few deckhands still lurking are watching them with unabashed curiosity now, not even trying to hide it anymore behind clipboards and murmured conversations.
He grabs her arm again and practically frogmarches Kara into the nearest tool locker. She’s not quite sure why she’s letting herself be dragged along, except her blood is boiling and there’s a wicked sense of anticipation that finally, finally they’re going to have this out.
He steers her through the hatch, pulls it shut behind them and pushes her into it, hands bracing the metal on either side of her head, his body crowding hers.
“Explain. Now.”
Lee’s face is flushed, eyes darker than usual, his jaw clenched so hard the muscle on the side is twitching. Heat burns through her and she wonders what he’d do if she just leaned forward and planted one on him.
So she does. And for one moment, it’s perfect. His mouth is hot and she tastes the sharp metallic tang of blood from where her punch landed, and she’s flicking her tongue past his teeth and he’s opening, opening…and then he wrenches his mouth away.
“Kara!” His brow creases, eyes wide with confusion and probably a little revulsion.
She lets her head fall back against the hatch with a thud and rolls her eyes. “Yeah, that’s what I thought.” She twists, tries to duck out from under his arm, but he’s quick and shifts with her, moving so she’s caged again.
“I don’t understand—”
“Yeah, well, neither do I,” her voice is sharp as she cuts him off, her eyes narrowing. “I don’t understand what the hell your problem is Lee. You don’t want me, but you sure don’t seem too happy about anyone else having me. That about right?”
to be continued
Re: Right in the Kisser (Part Two)
Date: 2011-09-10 01:08 am (UTC)She has to swallow a groan as he thrusts a little, rubbing against her like he’s daring her to say no. “Why then?” she manages to croak out. “Why’d you leave?”
“I’ve wanted you since the first night we met, Kara.” Memories of Lee hovering over her—the table under her back, a wineglass smashing—flicker through her head and she swallows hard. The image fades slow, superimposing like double vision into the Lee hovering over her now, his face pained.
“For almost three frakking years now, I have wanted you. I have dreamed about you. I have seen your face every time I close my eyes at night. Every frakking time,” his voice is husky, broken and he shakes his head. “And now we’re stuck here, and it’s torture. Because I don’t want to be your next quick frak,” Lee grimaces, jaw jutting forward. “I don’t want to be that major from wherever that I caught you with after Zak’s funeral. I don’t want to be Gaius Frakkin’ Baltar!” His voice is pitched high, and he takes a breath visibly calming himself, then he looks straight into her eyes again, gaze piercing hers. “I want…I need more than that.”
A shiver passes through her but she can’t move. She’s pinned not just by his body but by the weight in his eyes as he watches her, scrutinizing her face for some reaction. It’s surprising, but part of her always knew that this thing with Lee, this unacknowledged current that flared to life the second she opened the door to him that night and has lain crackling under the surface ever since, was more than simple attraction. Last night was far from the first time another guy wore his face. She wants him, but worse than that, she’s afraid she needs him. Kara’s terrified and elated in equal measure, and she doesn’t know which one should win out.
Apparently the indecision paralyzes her for too long. Lee’s face ripples and suddenly he’s pushing back away from her, his body already turning and Kara reaches out instinctively, grabs a fistful of his jacket and hauls him back. She kisses him, hard and deep, and this time she’s the one who pulls away first. Kara meets his shocked look and blurts, “I only slept with him because I was trying to forget you.”
Lee freezes, his expression impossible to read. “And did it work?”
Kara takes a breath, draws herself up, refusing to flinch under his gaze even as embarrassment colors her cheeks. “Failed pretty spectacularly, considering I called out your name at a crucial point in the proceedings.”
His eyebrows rise so high that it’s comical, but she doesn’t exhale until his lips start to curve into a grin and his hands reach for her again, pulling her towards him, arms twining tight around her waist. Kara’s grinning too, her heart beating faster, as she uncurls her hands from his jacket now, palms flattening on his chest. Lee dips his head to kiss her and it’s different this time, soft and sweet, and inwardly she sighs. Finally.
Then he’s murmuring into her ear, “Called out my name, huh? I think I may have to demand a re-enactment of that little scenario since I was MIA at the time. It only seems fair.”
“You wanna hear it?” she teases, nibbling at his jawline. “You’ll have to earn it.”
“Oh, don’t worry,” he says, one hand sliding down her lower back and over the curve of her ass. “I fully intend to.”
He starts with a single kiss to the spot where his punch landed.
