DPP: The Talk
Jun. 9th, 2011 08:01 amOh Lee, why must your hair look like a madman's at this moment?
So, yesterday, in our discussion of what we would rearrange on timeline's canon, several people suggested that they would have liked for our pilots to just have at least one big honest discussion about their relationship. Back after Daybreak aired, either in the podcast or in interviews, the creators mentioned that they'd thought about writing a scene where Kara and Lee DID talk about why they were never able to make it work between them. I think it was supposed to take place in the tent before they came out and said goodbye to the rents and poofed.
Thus, my question today: What would they have said? What
Anyone want to take a stab at ficcing it?
Here's a few creative suggestions:
"I have a secret. This is just my disguise. I'm not really a girl, Lee...I'm a pigeon in a girl suit."
"I liked you better when you were Fat!Lee. Maybe if you gained a few pounds."
"I never thought I'd tell anyone this but...I've really been in love with Hot Dog all this time..."
"My one true love? Noodles, followed by democracy."

Date: 2011-06-09 05:39 pm (UTC)Kara looks at him warily. “I’m not sure there is a best part, Lee. You really think they’ll even make it?”
“They will,” he says, with so much of the idealism he once had that she can’t help smiling. “The best part, Kara, is that this way I’m not going to be the president and you’re not going to be the CAG. We can just be people. Finally.” He’s grinning at her as he steps closer and rests his hands on her shoulders.
Her heart aches as Kara slowly shakes her head. “I can’t,” she says.
His eyes darken with intensity. “We’ve run away from this so many times,” Lee says, his fingers tightening. “But I love you, Kara Thrace. And I know you love me.”
She swallows hard. “I can’t be just a person, Lee,” Kara says softly. “I know you don’t want to see it, but I haven’t been for a long time now.”
Lee looks suddenly terrified, and she reaches up to rest her hands on his chest.
“Remember when we flew together?” she asks quietly, her voice near to breaking, “Over the storm? And I was so scared but you made me feel safe?”
“Copasetic,” he murmurs.
“Kara Thrace died loving you. But I’m not that girl, I’m something else. And I can’t stay.”
Lee’s hand cups her face as his eyes fill with tears. He opens his mouth as if to protest, but there’s nothing he can say to that.
The part of her that was Kara, the part that remembers loving Lee Adama, can’t stand his pain. She wraps her arms around him, holds on to him for all she’s worth as his tears run down his cheek and onto hers.
“They’re leaving!” someone calls out from across the tent, and they both turn, look through the flap to where Adama is carrying Roslin toward a raptor.
Kara pulls back, then takes Lee’s hand and squeezes it tightly in hers as she leads him out. “Let’s go say good-bye.”
