DPP: Drabble Weekend

I want to thank everyone who turned out this week to show their pilot love! Special thanks to all of the brave people who unlurked, tried their hand at pilot fic and made this week's DPP a success.



For the weekend, I'm going to invite everyone to write a pilot drabble. 100 words, no more, no less. Here's a convenient cut and paste word counter.

Intertwined

The faint haze of smoke lingers in the air. Kara stands next their vipers still intertwined. The Chief swears they’re salvageable, but she doesn’t know how. She runs a hand along the tapered body until she reaches her stenciled name. Saving Lee makes Starbuck worth hanging on to. Makes it less insane that she lives while so many never make it to the second battle of the war. She closes her eyes and thanks the gods for her Apollo.

Back in the shadows, Lee thinks he should tell her he’s glad he didn’t die out there. He doesn’t. He watches.

I think that last line really struck a chord with me for being just so perfectly (brokenly, achingly) Pilots. There are many things left unsaid between these two. :(

But on happier notes: thank you for your comfort and return hugs to you, new friend! Yay!
