He had to do it; it was his job as CAG. I love that she has his back though. They both got a bit older during that sequence...their faces already look more ragged and worn.

Hmm, I keep wondering about Starbuck, how she follows or questions orders based on gut. But I agree, she fired as well, once Apollo made his decision, to spread the 'blame'.
