[identity profile] kdbleu.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] no_takebacks
I’ve noticed a few new faces, er you know what I mean, posting here at [livejournal.com profile] no_takebacks so I thought it was time for a quick friending/introduction meme. So here goes:

Name/Callsign:
Age/Location (if you want):
When did you know Kara&Lee were you ship?
Favorite other character(s):
Favorite episodes/scenes:
Next best ship:
Favorite book, movie and song:
Anything else you'd like to share?

I would also like to introduce my co-host for the Pigeon. I don’t know how I missed him during [livejournal.com profile] taragel recent things that will always be linked to BSG post because I cannot take pigeons seriously anymore. As it turns out, as the mother of small children, I end smirking a lot at the Pigeon stories of Mo Willems because he’s kind of a super annoying pigeon who wants to drive a bus and eat hotdogs and such.

I like pre-cylon Tyrol too. His character definitely changed after he discovered he was a cylon. I liked him since 33 and the look that he gave Lee and Kara.

Yeah, me too! And yes, he definitely changed a lot. I feel a little bad lumping him in with Tory (who clearly was never a good person to begin with), but I feel like there was a line drawn between Tigh & Sam and Tyrol & Tory. Tyrol and Tory were worried about how this was going to affect *them*, and both eventually really thought of themselves as cylons (even though it took Tyrol a while). Tigh and Sam, though, were mostly just terrified that they were going to be forced to betray their loyalties, which were always going to lie with Adama, Starbuck, and humankind.

Oh my gosh. Tory was the worst. Yeah, there was a difference between Tory & Tyrol and Sam & Tigh.

I know that Michael Hogan (Tigh) and Aaron Douglas (Tyrol) were really upset that their characters were cylons, while Michael Trucco (Sam) and Rekha Sharma (Tory) were really excited about it. I guess Hogan and Douglas felt like they had been playing their character one way and when it's found out that they were cylons they felt slightly betrayed or something. I don't know if that affected Aaron Douglas' portrayal of Tyrol, but Tyrol is definitely darker post cylon-reveal than he was in the beginning of the series.

I didn't know that, but it makes a lot of sense to me. Tigh and Tyrol were, up to that point, much better developed as characters than Sam and Tory. I always liked Sam, but he was mostly just the easygoing jock who was in love with Kara, and Tory was really just the "Presidential Aide you never liked as much as Billy." Tigh and Tyrol though were very much real people.

I still think Aaron Douglas did an excellent job with the show, but I think that maybe the cylon thing tripped him up a little bit. He's definitely darker, which I'm sure was a choice, but I also feel like he never really gets his footing on who Tyrol is now. (Granted, part of that may be because *Tyrol* isn't sure who Tyrol is now, but I think there's more than that.)

lol. So true.

I think so too, because it seemed like his heart wasn't in it anymore. Sad.
