[identity profile] kdbleu.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] no_takebacks
I’ve noticed a few new faces, er you know what I mean, posting here at [livejournal.com profile] no_takebacks so I thought it was time for a quick friending/introduction meme. So here goes:

Name/Callsign:
Age/Location (if you want):
When did you know Kara&Lee were you ship?
Favorite other character(s):
Favorite episodes/scenes:
Next best ship:
Favorite book, movie and song:
Anything else you'd like to share?

I would also like to introduce my co-host for the Pigeon. I don’t know how I missed him during [livejournal.com profile] taragel recent things that will always be linked to BSG post because I cannot take pigeons seriously anymore. As it turns out, as the mother of small children, I end smirking a lot at the Pigeon stories of Mo Willems because he’s kind of a super annoying pigeon who wants to drive a bus and eat hotdogs and such.

Name/Callsign: themonkeytwin will do :)
Age/Location: the same age as my mother when she gave birth to me, and Chicago, for now.
When did you know Kara&Lee were your ship? man ... I think I loved their relationship, and their characters individually, the whole run of the show. Certainly they were among the few characters who never really drove-me-up the-wall-batty, and kept evolving and doing stupid things and smart things and brave things and learning from them. Well, sometimes. I was okay with the way they circled each other kind of endlessly, and with exploring all the aspects of their incredible relationship. But I gave up on the series as getting too tangled up in itself at some point, and only recently got around to watching 4 and 4.5. At which point I saw the infamous *poof*, saw red, and saw that in a single instant I had been converted to a die-hard shipper. (Once I might have entertained shipping Kara/Leoben, but the moment he walked away from her on Earth 1, that relationship was over in my mind. It was interesting while it lasted, but it's dead and done and unresurrectable, angel-cats or no.)
Favorite other character(s): Romo, always. Adama and Laura, together or apart, have always been good fun. And Saul Tigh, bless his crusty, withered, loyal, bloody-minded soul, completely won me over in the end. I'm rewatching the series slowly right now and enjoying the hell out of him.
Favorite episodes/scenes: uh, not so good at this kind of stuff. Probably "You Can't Go Home Again", just for the sheer awesomeness of Kara.
Next best ship: ... Galactica?
Favorite book, movie and song: yeah, okay, oy with the impossible questions already. You want to get to know me, the tv fandom meme (best one I've come across so far, too) I did recently (http://themonkeytwin.livejournal.com/33124.html) will probably help you out more.
Anything else you'd like to share? ... I'm really talkative?

Yeah. It just got completely sidelined by the demands of the plot, and all the other characters that I suppose *some* people think are important. However little interaction they had after she came back, though, I loved Lee's response to it all. He knows Kara, soul to soul. So to me, if he says it's her, it's her. Soulmates don't get confused about things like that. His acceptance of her and belief in her not only showed how much they'd both grown, but was also what told me they were finally in a place where a relationship wouldn't be hopelessly self-destructive and dependent on extreme conditions (war, finding Earth, alcohol, guilt-fraks, etc) to survive. I guess I'm the opposite of most of the commenters in that "point of no return" post in that I have no confidence in them going anywhere as a couple (chemistry notwithstanding) before Kara dies.

When there's such great material to talk about, why wouldn't you be? :)

I know what you mean about Kara/Leoben. I've ALWAYS shipped Kara/Lee, but Kara and Leoben did have a kind of crazy chemistry going on for a while, and their whole first interaction in "Flesh and Bone" is amazing. But yes, the fact that he backs away from her in horror on Cylon Earth proves that he doesn't love her...he's just obsessed with her and her "special destiny."

I've never heard of anyone becoming a shipper because of Daybreak. Usually it's the shippers ranting about how ridiculous the *poof* was! I'm deathly curious.

Oh yeah, Flesh and Bone was intense. I rewatched it just recently (my second time through the series) and was like ... damn, Kara is, um, instinctively good at torture. Not the mechanics of it as much as the psychology of it. That's ... :/

But yeah, obsession is definitely the driving factor there between them. For a while it looked almost promising, like here's a guy who can keep up with your crazy, woman. Not just keep up but outstrip you sometimes. If it ever stables out, that could kind of work. But by the end I realised that no, LEE was the one who could deal with absolutely everything Kara could throw at a guy.

Don't get me wrong, I always liked Lee and Kara together and the chemistry they had, I just didn't OTP them. But between realising the above, and what I said in my reply to [livejournal.com profile] kdbleu, I was convinced they'd finally earned their relationship. The *poof* made me realise I felt this way by how angry it made me, to make them go through all that work and then rip it away from them. Trying to make it Kara/Sam, RDM? Yeah, nice try. He was always Kara's Sam, and I don't have a problem with that, but SHE was always Lee's Kara, and vice versa.

Does that make sense? I liked the pairing but wasn't invested until RDM ripped me them off.
