DPP - Happy Valentine's Day

I'm queenofthorns and I shall be piloting the DPP (for the first time!!) this week. Kudos to all my fellow drivers, who have set the bar so high that I've been racking my brains to figure out what to do that hasn't been done before. Then I said to myself, hey, nothing wrong with some kissing, right? It IS Valentine's Day!

There have been five great kisses since 1642 B.C. when Saul and Delilah Korn's inadvertent discovery swept across Western civilization. (Before then couples hooked thumbs.) And the precise rating of kisses is a terribly difficult thing, often leading to great controversy, because although everyone agrees with the formula of affection times purity times intensity times duration, no one has ever been completely satisfied with how much weight each element should receive. The last kiss is the one that Kara gives Lee during "The Oath" and it's not so much her kissing him that gets me as it is what she says afterwards: "All we can count on is you and me." SIGH!

Doing this mini picspam led me to the shocking realization that there are only SIX kisses onscreen in canon! So, if you would like to tell me about some MORE times that Kara and Lee should have kissed (but sadly did not) I would love to hear about them.

For pure sexiness, I have to say EoJ. My gods, it's the hottest kissing scene EVAH! WOW. I only have this sloooooooow and hot version of the kiss, but whoa!

If I have to rank just the kiss itself, I'll with EOJ. It is hot and sexy as hell. Besides, in spite of the minor detail that was their marriage to other people, they were in a more hopeful mood, I guess. I'd put the brig scene one in a close second place. It feels sadder and more desperate, but it's also much more emotional - there are so many emotions at play there and they are so heartfelt.

EoJ kissing is hot like a hot volcano, but my favorite of their kisses is Scar, after she slaps him, because it's so full of all the things that bind them together and tear them apart: Zak, love, lust, friendship, duty, guilt, etc. Gah!

I love this comment. The Scar kiss just makes me ache in the best way, because everything you described is so true. It isn't a "peck"... it's a full-on, full of angst and pain kiss that lingers. And I love that it's the moment his hands rise up to her hair that she walks away.

The hottest kiss is definitely EoJ but for me, personally i love the extended Brig scene because it's the most emotional and loving connection i've ever seen them have. Also, because it was all so FUCKED UP AFTER THAT which still pisses me off.

OKAY but my two favorite kisses are probably the sweet, surprised kiss of Home and the Six of One brig kiss which is so desperate and comforting at the same time and how he kisses her whole face. Yes, I think I have to go with that one. BECAUSE THERE ARE BONUS KISSES on eyelids and brows and cheeks and THEY CAN'T STOP THE KISSING. And because they both need it so much.

There are more then 6 on screen kisses. They kissed 4 times in Scar, 4 in UB, and at least that many in EoJ alone. Let me see I can find some "proof" to back it up hehe.

One of the scenes that always stands out in my mind as a gigantic missed opportunity is in Lay Your Burden's Down Pt1 when Lee calls Kara into his office to "discuss" the sar plan. I know all of this is after the craziness of Scar, Sacrifice and Captain's Hand, but despite all that it's very obvious he's called her in as an excuse to see her. He's fidgety, nervous and I'm sure some of it is just worry, but I'm convinced a lot of it was fear she might not make it back at all. Even Kara looks nervous and confused in the scene, especially after Lee tells her he hopes she finds Sam. I wish instead of holding back he would have just stood up told her to please make it back safe and kissed her. I think things may have turned out very differently.

I'll have to go with the majority and say that on a hotness scale the one(s) from EoJ is the best. But I like them all for different reasons and its hard to chose just one. The one from the rig is full of emotion, the last one from Scar depicts their relationship so well that makes me want to strangle them each time, ok, UB is UB and I'm skipping it because is too bitter-sweet for me at this hour.... BUT if I had, like really had to chose one i'll go with the one from Home. Don't ask me why because I do not know.

Kisses that should have been...
There's a moment in UB when Kara's taunting Lee into fighting her, where I think they're going to kiss every single time I watch, no matter how many times I've seen the scene.

I think even on the commentary of the extended version the editor guy said something along the lines about not really knowing at first if they were gonna fight or make out.

Well, I stand corrected (it was a few more than six times, but only seven episodes.) I agree with you, though, that they managed to convey so much with very little.

The brig scene does seem to have garnered a lot of votes - I think I'm still a little bitter about that because it was (IMO) such a TEASE for the viewers. After that scene they didn't talk again for many many episodes and there was epic mindfrakking at the end of the season. On the other hand, the scene itself is lovely

The brig kiss in Six of One is hands down my favorite kiss EVAH. It was filled with everything they could never find the right words to say out loud. It was love, friendship, promise, hope and faith. I feel like for once both of their walls were down and they just gave into what they felt. Lee kisses her over and over, he holds her and Kara accepts what he gives. She doesn't pull away or try and downplay it. She allows herself to feel it all. There was something very powerful about that to me and mixed with the deleted scene (it's my canon...I don't care) where he gives her Aurora and she hangs on to it. There was a deeper promise between them of always staying connected and coming back to each other. Yes, yes that's it...right? :)

Right! I agree that the scene itself is very lovely. I think I hang back a bit because it felt like it was a tease to keep the K/L shippers happy and then nothing happened because of that damn table? But I love the scene itself.

Okay, my fav kiss is one that hasn't been discussed above and is rarely if ever discussed. My fav has evolved over time as I've sort of maxed out on angst. I adore the kiss when Kara and Lee are naked after making love and he's trying to say that it's all as simple as just telling Dee and Sam that they are together now. He quickly kisses her, then jumps up naked to proclaim his love. It's as if he can't stand to be separated from her physically by even a few feet. It's quick and sweet and almost reminds me of two people have been in a relationship for a long time - it's so casual. I imagine that if they were together (*sighhhhhhhhs*), then Lee would be doing a lot of quick pecks just because he loved Kara and he loved that he could do it!

Oh, I have to go with EoJ kissage all the way - it's so passionate and uber hot, plus, if you look at the slo-mo animation like above, you can see that there is actual tongue (Jamie tongue, be still my beating heart) and I totally fanwank this into RPF "they are actually having an affair off screen" land, which totally works with my twisted mind, as it adds layers of guilt and angst and hotness into the mix, both real and fictional...

My favorites are definitely EoJ just in terms of pure hotness, and then the brig scene in Six of One for the intimacy of it. There is so much there.

The few times that I feel like they should've definitely kiss (and probably wanted to kiss) are in the mini, when Lee comes back from the dead and pulls Kara out from under her viper. The hand holding that is just a wee bit too long ... I always feel like Kara's really holding herself back and secretly wants to just hug the crap out of him, which of course, would lead to him kissing her ;-)

The second time is the memorial hallway scene where he tells her it's just Lee & Kara and the rest of it doesn't matter and caresses her face. Again, I feel like he might've wanted to just lean in and kiss her. Not necessarily in a passionate way, but intimately ... to show her he means it.

The third time (and this is totally wishful thinking on my part) is when he comes into the bunkroom to "meet" Sam and she jumps up and hugs him. I always feel like if he had just held on and planted one on her, things would've turned out differently.

And ... um, the "are we okay" scene, if Dee hadn't interrupted, there might've been a kiss after that hug. No?

OK, I know I am super late to the party but I wanted to stop by and leave a comment :) This has been a lovely topic and I’ve thoroughly enjoyed reading all these answers! As for my favorite kiss… That’s really tough, actually. I love Kara and Lee’s their kisses to bits, all of them are memorable and meaningful in their own way. Maybe aesthetically, I’d go for the EoJ kissing because it’s so hot and sexy, and these two just look awesome together (and I definitely love the tongue action going on there, heh). But I adore the brig scene kiss as well, because of the intimacy –I think this is probably their most honest moment. I love how Lee covers with kisses every inch of Kara’s face and she just accepts it all. It’s gorgeous and perfect. ♥ ♥ ♥
