[identity profile] aurora-0811.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] no_takebacks
The posting rules are simple.
  • You can only post reactions and dialog for your chraracter
  • Give others a chance to respond (If it takes too long, I'll try and jump in and move things along w/out trying to do too much altering to the character)
That's it!  I know this may or may not work and if it doesn't then at least we tried.  Also, we sadly have no Adama or Roslin so if you want to write appearances by them then go for it....they are the wild card characters open to anyone. For now let's say they are both in sickbay and Doc Cottle is getting Adama patched up post fight.

Some people won't be around until later tonight so try to remember that!  Our Starbuck might be modded a bit by Tara until Ray gets home so that we can keep pilots in motion.  To get the game going I'm going to post as a deckhand (so excuse the poor writing skills please)

We start our game at the very end of UB.  Starbuck and Apollo are laying bloodied and battered on the mat of the boxing ring.  Slowly the crowd starts to thin out and all the crew can talk about is Maj. Adama and Capt. Thrace.  The whispers and theories about what happened so long ago on New Caprica to cause their rift echo off the bulkheads.  Finally Col. Tigh steps out of the ring and orders everyone but the knuckledraggers off the deck and for them to get it back to combat ready status.  It’s 15 minutes later, the bleachers are stacked, tables are stowed and the only thing left to dismantle is the ring but Starbuck and Apollo are still laying in it.  The deck gang is trying to decide who is going to be the one to say something to them….

ETA:  Rooms are added, if there is any place you specifically want to work from let me know. I'm adding an OOC comment at the end so put all your comments, needs or questions there....i figure its best to have it all in one place.

EDIT 11:30PM EST:  Hey everyone!  Thanks so much for joining in, we've started it a bit and kind of established where everyone is.  We've been discussing keeping this going for a few days and posting jumps ahead and what not in the coming days.  Please continue to add anything into this thread, make your character interact in the established places or if you want to start a new "room" just let me know.  Tomorrow there will be a post about continuing the story.  Thanks again for all your patience while we figure it out, I hope you enjoy playing and reading!

Lee grasped the offered hand and let Helo pull him to his feet, every joint protesting as he got upright.

He looked down at Kara, still lying at their feet, torn. He didn't want to leave her here. She looked even worse than he did, but they had so much to talk about. They couldn't do that in sickbay.

Besides, Dee would no doubt be waiting in their quarters. Gods. How long did she watch for? What was he supposed to tell her? That he'd forgotten all about her, forgotten his godsdamned wife halfway through their dance. Hell, he'd nearly forgot himself entirely and kissed Kara right there in the ring, with everyone watching. He griamced and rubbed a shaky hand through his sweat-soaked hair.

He had to handle this. No more lying to himself. No more pretending. He looked at Helo's expectant face. "I'll be alright. Just..." he paused, his glance skipping down to Kara one more time, as if it might be the last time and someone would come along and snatch her away. "Just take care of her, alright?" he asked Helo softly, then mustering his will, he climbed out of the ring and headed off the deck.

"Always do, Sir," Helo responded as he watched Lee stagger away.

He turned back to look at the woman still lying at his feet. He knelt down closer to her head and put his hand on her shoulder.

"Hey, Buck. Time to go," he told her gently.

Helo's hand on her shoulder didn't startle Kara exactly, but it drew her out of her thoughts--thank the gods, her own head was not exactly the place she wanted to be right now. "Yeah. Sure." Kara shoved herself to her feet, taking note for the first time of the bruises aching in protest as she moved.

Frak.

When she had woken up this morning everything had been so easy. No. Easy was not the right word. Simple. Clean. Mostly, anyways. Cleaner than they were now. Her eyes darted in the direction in which Lee had left before looking back at Karl. "Let's get out of here."

Helo grabbed her elbow and lifted her to her feet. She swayed a bit, and he decided to slip his arm around her waist. He'd seen the way Lee had gone at her, and he'd been sparring with Kara long enough to know that she'd gotten a real beating. Being on the receiving end of Apollo wasn't fun, and she wouldn't admit it, but she'd need help.

He glanced around looking for Sharon, but she had disappeared. He'd worry about that later.

"No offence, Buck, but you smell," he said, taking a whiff of her hair and making an exaggerated face. "Ugh, worse than usual."

"And you smell just like a spring daisy, Karl." Kara's eyes narrowed into a glare, as she tried to shake his arm off of her. Okay, so she wasn't too steady on her feet right now, but she was going to have enough eyes on her after that show, the last thing she needed was to be hobbling around using Helo as her crutch.

She managed to get down from the ring on her own, but once she was down on the deck, she found herself needing to hang on to the ropes to steady herself once again. A hot shower would feel good about now, she decided.

Helo sighed at her stubbornness, but wasn't surprised. She was going to pass out in the hallway, so he was just going to take matters into his own hands.

"I guess I could use a trip to the head, too," he conceded her earlier comment as he hoped down from the mat and nodded to the specialist that gave him a grateful look.

Kara was still clinging to the ropes, and he mentally thought about just how much this was going to hurt.

He grabbed Kara's wrist off the ropes and before she could figure out what he was doing, threw her over his shoulder and walked off the hanger deck.

"FRAK!" she shouted.

Dead. Deader than dead. Deader than a cylon with no resurrection ship around. That was exactly how dead Karl Agathon was for this little stunt.

"Godsdamnit, put me down!" She pounded her hands against his back. Not hard--not like she had that much strength left in her anyways--but enough to make her point. After a few good smacks, realizing he wasn't about to let her go, and she had a choice between give in and get dropped on her head, she decided to go for the option that would not result in a trip to sickbay.

Then again, if she'd just leaned on him in the first place, she wouldn't even be in this position.

"Stop it, Kara, you don't even have your boots, so you can't walk down the hall like this," he explained calmly, knowing full well that her heart wasn't in it, but his already beat up body was complaining. Thankfully, the head wasn't far.

He grabbed for the hatch and swung it open, taking swift strides into the head, the two last people left in it stepping aside he walked through with his cargo before walking out.

Helo placed her on her feet in front of the first stall that he saw and pushed her in. "Clean up. You'll thank me later."

That's when he caught sight of who else was there. "Hey, Apollo."

He pivoted on his heel and walked out, a small smile on his face.

Athena watches as Helo walks over and talks to the slumbering pilots. She didn't know what was going on to, probably, the extent that Helo does. If there had been any question before the 'dance' there is little if any left in her mind. She leans against a wall and watches as Lee gets up and then leaves the room.

Athena backs off into the shadows, she doesn't want to be seen watching the aftermath of a catastrophe in their lives. She watches him slink off, back to his wife. She frowns. They should never have gotten married. she looks back at the ring and watches as Helo begins rousing Kara. She knows that it's best for her to wait this out. To not be here.

Athena too walks out of the door. The heat of the joy of Helo's victory having left her and the cold of watching Kara and Lee really go at each other leaves her cold as she walks down Galactica's halls. She can't imagine the idea that so much has gone on in their past that it leads two sane - partially sane in Kara's case - people to the point of knocking each other into unconsciousness. Especially two people that were in love.

Was it a human thing? Was it just a love thing? Did love make you do the wacky? Returning to her quarters she sat on the bed and thanks whoever was watching that Her and Helo were a lot simpler than that of Kara and Lee - at least behind closed doors. Her thankfulness however, did not stop her thoughts floating back to the two friends on the hanger deck.

Helo finally arrived in his own quarters, the night finally fully hitting him. Without an thinking about it, he flopped himself face down on the mattress and let out a groan.

Athena looked at her husband, face down on their bed, raised and eyebrow and smiled at her melodrama.

"That bad then?" She said - though she could not hide her mirth. She watched as her husband turned his head.

He turned to look at his wife and flipped himself face up on the mattress, throwing his arm over his eyes. "I threw Kara over my shoulder and dumped her in the empty head with Lee."

He knew he was playing with fire, particularly with Lee. Kara, he could deal with. Her anger was always fully displayed, white hot and quick burning. She would hit and cuss and generally kick his ass. Helo was more concerned about Lee. His anger was slow burning and venomous, infinitely more dangerous.

He took a real risk throwing those two back together again. But they needed to work whatever it was out.

Faintly, in the back of his mind reminded him of Dee and Sam, who were also his friends.

Frak.

Athena looks at her husband grinning, brow furrowing slightly at his audacity. She smoothed her hand over his forehead before giving in to out right laughter.

"She'll kill you for parading through the ship with her over your shoulder"

Athena scootched over towards the wall allowing her husband a little space. She shook her head and smiled at her husband.

"You know The worst mistake Lee ever did was marry Dee when his feelings ran that deep. I would love to know what made Kara run off and Marry Sam for that matter."

She looked her husband who was watching her, she took his hand in hers and squeezed it.

"Makes our lives look so much more simple."

Helo stared at his wife increduously. Was she really asking that?

"Dee is a good person, Sharon. Exceptional even," he felt the need to defend his friend. He knew a little bit about not being able to help the fact that the person you fell in love with had baggage. "And Sam's good for Kara."

He sighed. "Or at least he was."

He scrubbed his hand over his face. This was way too complicated. "Kara and Lee have things to work out though. They need each other. They can't change what happpened in the past, whatever it was. But they need to stop hurting themselves so they can stop hurting everyone else."

He looked back at his wife, thankful that somehow, they were the least disfunctional couple on the ship.
He kissed her lightly. "I'm glad you're on my side."

"Look I like Dee. She's a great person. But, you didn't see her face. Sam just walked out. There is more going on there Karl. Dee and Sam are going to get hurt."
From: [identity profile] angelicalangie.livejournal.com
The kiss was brief and light. Athena smiled at her husband, before sighing and relaxing a little.

"Look I like Dee. She's a great person. But, you didn't see her face. Sam just walked out. There is more going on there Karl. Dee and Sam are going to get hurt."

Athena removed her tanks until she was left in just her bra, pants followed shortly after, she passed both to her husband and drew the covers up.

"Are you going to lay there all night - there's what 8 hours til our shift - sleep could be an idea."
From: [identity profile] amaliak.livejournal.com
Helo sighed again.

He smiled at her, and kissed her forehead. "Sleep sounds amazing. But if I don't shower right now, you're going to kick me out bed."
From: [identity profile] angelicalangie.livejournal.com
Athena sat up a little and thought for a second as she watched her husband slowly move off of the bed.

"If I remember rightly you stank a whole lot worse on Caprica and somehow I put up with you then," her smile deepened as she scootched across the bed and swatted Helo on the rear. "Just remember where your quarters are."

She moved back into her bed and looked at her husband with an innocent smile and laid down in the bed.
From: [identity profile] amaliak.livejournal.com
"Remind me again, who out up with whom's smell on Caprica?" he asked, jumping away from her and walking into the head, turning the water to hot.

Stepping in, he gave a sigh of relief.

Tomorrow would most likely be another heavy day, and he was due to meet Lee in the gym at 0800 before his shift.

Stepping back out of the shower and quickly drying off, he glanced back at Sharon, who was now sleeping in their bed. He was so grateful to have her in his life, it made his heart hurt. So many had lost so much...he was lucky.

He slid into bed beside her, wrapping his arms around her and pulling her flush against him, letting himself relax and sleep to claim him.
From: [identity profile] angelicalangie.livejournal.com
Sharon 'Athena' Agathon stretched out in the bed before realizing that the presence of her husband was no longer in the bed with her. She had felt him wrap his arms around her in her sleep, had even responded by moving into him, but it was a vague peripheral awareness. She must have been asleep and dead to the world if she hadn't noticed Helo awaken and get up. Looking over she saw the time 0645. Early even for Helo, he must - she thought to her self - have something weighing on his conscience.

Rolling out of the bed she took a brief smell of her self and wondered also how Helo hadn't kicked her out of bed. The night before however, she was tired that her only thought had been for her bed. She walked over to the head attached to their quarters.

Picking up some shampoo and soap she quickly divested herself of clothes and quickly moving through her wash routine her hair was cleaned and body soaped down. A quick perfunctory clean up - but one she was sure Helo might appreciate. She placed her soap and shampoo in the requisite holder and grabbed a towel and toweled herself off.

Moving back into their quarters she picked up clean undergarments and uniform and dressed quickly before realizing that she wanted to go over the systems checks on her raptor that she had done the day before, she wasn't certain but something had looked iffy. Quickly she remade the bed and tidied up quarters before she moved to the hatch, took a brief cursory look at the quarters and left, for the Hangar Deck once more .
