The Oscar Pre-Show BEGINS!

Saturday is Oscar night! 

Tensions are starting to rise as we close in on the voting for the Oscar winners.  Please get out and cast your vote.  As someone who gets to see the results as they come in, I can tell you that there are a couple REALLY close races right now.  Your vote could be the deciding one!  Make it count!
(*NOTE:  TWO TIES AS OF 10 P.M. THURSDAY.) 

As mentioned , if there is a tie in the Oscar poll, I’ll be hosting a tie-breaker vote Saturday morning.  Then I’ll be posting the winners and their virtual Oscar awards afterward.  You’ll have both Saturday and Sunday to come on down to the DPP to hear the acceptance speeches and provide your congrats to the winners!

Now, since today is Friday, and we’ve had a busy week reading / writing / creating, I’m going to suggest something a little easier for today’s DPP.  (You didn’t realize I was going to make you work so hard this week, did you? :>)

Since Lee and Kara will be attending tomorrow’s Fandom Oscars, you have the task of selecting their evening wear. 
 

Grab and post images, explain your choices and if you wish, dress up our pilots for the show and after parties.

First... first, not all suits are equal. If there is anything I've learned in other fandoms is that suits must be tailored to the man. And as much as a basic black tux and white shirt might work with our "stick-up-your-ass" CAG, on that red carpet and stage he is more than just Apollo the Captain. He will be Lee, and damn it he is going to be so delicious that Kara and other wannabees (like Dee) will notice and maybe do more than notice.

So, is he going to go bow tie? or regular tie? or tie less?

Personally, I see him in all black. like the suit JGL is wearing. or maybe what tom hardy is wearing except with a silky black shirt with just the right kind of sheen.

based on his stint as President, who know that pinstripes don't really flatter him (makes him bulky in the wrong places). and a tie yes, or tie-less. might seem horribly informal for a black tie affair, but Lee can pull it off.

The comment about pin-stripes makes me laugh. I ALMOST want to use the descriptor "heavy-set" LOL. Sorry - couldn't resist. *winks*

yes the pin stripes make him look heavy-set, on account of his extensive torso development. i think it makes him look shorter. i suppose that they wanted to emphasize that fashion choices were limited at the end of worlds.

he was such a frumpy, heavy-set President. He was practically goon-ish looking. Jamie is just better looking in solid colors.

Dudes...all I have to say is that I love Jamie and I don't care who frakking knows!! He can wear pinstripes AND brown shoes if that's what makes him happy. He's still the most adorable, brilliant, and lovely space bf ever. (Besides, it's not like he'd be wearing any of it long if we had any say in the matter.)

sorry dear, but that pin stripe suit and jamie bamber did not work for me. i think i just prefer him with simpler lines. the lapels on his presidential suit were also kinda too big for his frame IMO. yep, i am risking the ire of all of K/L fandom but I just needed to put that out there. i don't think the suit he was wearing in the promo stills is the same as the one he actually wore on the show, because it looks like solid color. that looked good.

Well, YMMV, certainly. I agree about the lapels, I just wouldn't call it frumpy, or put the blame solely-- or even at all-- on the stripes. Agreed, he looks better in a single-button with a shawl lapel, or the notch or cloverleaf, just with a longer general line, which you get more with the single-button affair.

Of course, we all wish there was bespoke tailoring in space, right?

Hee! I have spent so many hours of my life staring at fashion blogs and magazines, I don't even. And I haven't even begun to talk about collars, or shirts, or waistcoats, or shoes.

Also, girl, is there some reason we are not LJ friends? Because the only reason that I can think of is that I have been HIGHLY REMISS in not friending you since the Dragon*Con.

Given my desire to keep the peace and the fact that the person in question just posted for herself, I am stepping out of this one with just this comment: I love K/L shippers for the similarities we share with our wonder!twins. We are just as passionate, intelligent, fun-loving, and explosive as they are. Therefore, it should be expected that debate will be fierce when posting thoughts that are contrary to general fanon beliefs. We don't mean for such debate to discourage newcomers from joining. However, it is an important aspect of the community that must be accepted in order to make this place one's home.
