Happy Monday Shipper Nation!! I'm Liz and I'm excited to be your DPP driver this week. I've got games, memes, ficlets, and other goodies planned so I hope you'll drop by throughout the week.

First, a huge shout-out to sci_fi_shipper for an amazing week full of insightful discussion, gorgeous and adorable artwork and scenarios for happy pilots, comment!fic, pilots playlists, and loads of fun!! Great work, hon!!

And now, I'd like to introduce the Return of the Friending Meme!!


shah_of_blah had a lovely idea about two months ago to host a "friending meme" DPP. During my time in K/L fandom, I've been continually impressed by how wonderfully kind and supportive everyone here has been. It's an absolute pleasure to be part of this community. When I saw Shah's meme, I thought to myself that we should really do that on a regular basis to renew old friendships, get to know more about one another, and welcome newcomers to the community. I've also been chatting with some new (to me) people recently and realized that a number of you aren't on my flist. This problem must be rectified!!

In that spirit, I've put together some "getting to know you questions" so we all can introduce or reintroduce ourselves. I encourage using this opportunity to add fellow shippers to your flists. (p.s.--You'll notice I've tried to make the questions short and sweet (when vs. why, etc.) since we've had many discussions of why we're here or why K/L is our OTP. While you are certainly welcome to include that info, I am hoping the quick answer format will encourage participation...and friending...of old, middle, and new guard shippers since posting should be a quick, painless five minutes.

The questions:
1. Your username, callsign if applicable, +/- anything else you prefer (or don't mind) being called.
2. When did you start watching bsg?
3. When did you enter fandom?
4. Is K/L your first/only fandom or are you a multi-fandom type?
5. Have you done things you never dreamed you would in order to participate in fandom? Examples?
6. Any current projects you want to advertise?
7. If you were stranded on a desert island and could only have 5 bsg episodes, which would you take? I'll allow an arc to count as one entry to make things a little easier.
8. What do you do in the few minutes that you aren't obsessing over K/L?

I adore Ophelia. She is my favorite Shakespearean character ever. LOL about our ships drowning in the swamp. It is disheartening. I do love the swamp imagery though. An old friend and I always get each other bath petals for gifts so we can float in the bath with flowers all around us. (We're morbid...it's morbid humor...but hey, it's somehow soothing.)

I am so impressed by the people who were with bsg from the beginning. I don't know how you dealt with the angst, but I also think it must have been such fun to get to see our pilots...and the story in general...develop weekly before your eyes. (At least for S1, 2, and maybe 3.)

I'm right with you on the fandom/shipping thing. I had no clue all this goodness existed until I found it while browsing online angsting over K/L.

There are so many good writers in this fandom. I love it. The thing with K/L shippers though is that everyone is so supportive. It's still intimidating, but you know people will have your back no matter what.

I need to watch Inception. There's good K/L-Inception crossover fic getting written!!

Interesting choice of epis. 33 almost made my list.

Yup I'm definitely an Indigo Girls fan. Loved Rite of Passage when it first came out (that was my first experience of them). Romeo and Juliet was my song for years in college. Bought all their earlier stuff and stuck with them until after Emily worked with Vonda Sheppard. The stuff they made after just didn't work that well for me.

Karin is the only one making the truly thought-worthy BSG/Inception cross over. I kinda have a girl crush on her now - seriously her fics are wonderfully plotty and well written.

Ok, I sort of dabbled with the Quadrangle of Doom thing, I think because I'm the only one who sees it. My husband and I were downloading the eps actually since the mini-series, and it was hell every time they went on hiatus for what... 6 months? I think in RL, my hubby and I have a more Sharon/Karl dynamic but I just really loved Kara/Lee from the start.

Yes!! R+J, Least Complicated, and Closer to Fine were key songs during late high school and college for me too. I do prefer the earlier songs but Emily and Amy both have such distinct and gorgeous voices that I can't really stay away from them.

Karin's fic is amazing. That's the one I was referring to actually. I just feel like I should see Inception before reading so I can get the full effect.

Wow, you are super brave writing QoD fic. I'm currently writing something that is K/L but may be somewhat controversial, but I finally decided that I'm writing it for ME. Anyone who wants to come along for the ride is most welcome. If people don't like it, they don't have to read it. So I say "write away".

Yeah, my best friends have an Athena/Helo dynamic, which I guess is funny considering I'm such a Kara girl and Kara/Helo kinda do the bff thing. It can be frustrating though to be the "screw-up". I respect those of you that can appreciate the K/L love while still maintaining the health of Athena/Helo. :)
