If I may slide into a slightly more serious conversation (yeah, with those gifs playing above): I really truly don't see why Kara would change her name. She's a military officer; why would she change her name simply because she gained a spouse?

Cannonically, did either Kara or Dee change their name in the show? I don't think so, but it's too early here and I'm still half-asleep. I'm wondering if they did, and if not, perhaps that was a conscious decision of TPTB. A woman changing her name is a very "Earth" custom, after all, with tendrils of our old patriachal traditions*, and the BSG universe shows the Twelve Colonies have a more egalitarian tradition.

(*no offense meant, this is said as a woman that *did* choose to take her husband's name)

Absolutely no offense taken. I'm a woman who DIDN'T take her husband's name. I've never really understood the custom, myself. I just like the idea that Kara is strong enough in her identity that she'd keep her own name. This may be "my" Kara, rather than canon, but I like it all the same. :>)
