Hello Kara/Lee Lovers! I am sci_fi_shipper and I'll be your happy driver this week. I'm gonna start us off with a game of sorts. We're going to do a variation on a theme taragel did a few months ago with the alphabet (here), but we're gonna use numbers instead.




Instructions: We'll count up from 1 to 99 (or higher if you want). For each number, write something about Kara/Lee that corresponds to it.

As the numbers get higher, there is no expectation of accuracy, so do some Starbuck thinking outside the box and get creative, e.g. 69 is well, we all know what it is, or 27: number of times Starbuck wanted to kiss Lee during the briefing, or 87: the year they got married - whatever makes your shipper heart happy!

We can do our best to keep the numbers in order, but don't worry if they're mixed up a bit and I totally expect duplicates - it's all good!

3: Bill, Lee & Zak: the three Adama men she loved

71 clicks away from the spot she disappeared, he finds her again, lying in the dirt, half-conscious, but with a look in her eyes that he hadn't seen in a long time. I'm free now, she says, reaching down and pulling him into a kiss. He doesn't ask how she got there. He just kisses her back.

72 times they frakked the first month after their wedding. But who's counting.

73 rotations before he'll even look at her. He wishes she'd stayed on Caprica.

75 days after Daniel was born, Kara's pregnant again. Kara can't stop giggling when everyone gives them a bad time, mostly because Lee can't stop blushing.

LOL. Awesome! Reminds me of a fic where Kara tells the Admiral that she's pregnant again cuz they ran out of birth control, she's bad at counting and Lee sucks at abstinence. Hee.

76- The number of times Lee thought he saw or heard Kara after she died .

77- The 77th time Lee saw Kara after she died they were flying together and he was finally sure he had gone crazy. It is good to be wrong!

78 - 78 people rushed to the hangar deck to see with their own eyes if Kara had returned from the world of the dead. What they all witnessed, without a shred of doubt, was the moment Apollo returned to the world of the living.

80 - The number of times Lee wanted to say “I love you” to Kara, but held back.

81 – When he couldn’t hold it in anymore, he shouted it to the skies. Nobody witnessed it. But 81 stars shone more brightly that night. Some of them even fell from the sky.

82 seconds from the time his feet hit the deck to the time he pushed through the crowd and hugged her. "I missed you. I missed you," he whispered in her ear. "Okay, okay. Me too," she whispered back and his heart was whole again.

83 minutes from the time he steps off Colonial One to the time he stands in the hangar deck watching her work on the viper. "Hey."

84 weeks from the time she rammed her viper into his and brought him home to the time when she smashed her lips against his in the bunkroom and showed him the meaning of being home.

85 months from the time he started his lonely trek across the new earth to the time when he finally accepted that she was gone for good. His heart would never be whole again.

86 - He had already catalogued 86 freckles, birthmarks, scars (both tiny and big), bruises, scrapes on her body. Not surprisingly, the numbers kept changing, though. This warranted further and close investigation. A CAG’s work is never done. And he was nothing if not thorough.

87 days since the colonies were destroyed and all he cares about is that she might not make it back from Caprica.

88 perfect landings in a row and she has to tease him about the one that wasn't.

89 minutes was the longest he could wait before he apologized. He knew Kara'd go 89 days or longer if he let her.

90: It's been three months since he married Dee and he still sees Kara when he closes his eyes. Maybe in three more it will stop. He hopes sooner.

91 jumps and she spends the entire briefing trying to figure out how many days that means. Not because she cares. Because she think it will keep her awake. As the pilots are filing out, Lee whispers, "Two days, two hours and twelve minutes. Don't think about it." She spends the next 33 minutes trying to figure out how he knew what she was thinking.

Four hundred and fifty-one days after she’s posted to Galactica, Kara picks up her phone to listen to her messages. She knows that no one has called her. Everyone who talks to her lives with her now. She presses down the button anyway and waits.

Nothing. She stares at the phone and begins to panic.

One hundred and eighty-two days. Messages only save automatically for ninety.

Collapsing into her bunk she pulls the curtain shut and closes her eyes. If she holds completely still, she can hear his voice.

“Hey, Kara. It’s Lee. Just thinking… I miss him too. If you ever want to talk…”

She didn’t want to talk, but she liked to hear his voice. So every ninety days…

This time she waited ninety-two.

Ninety-three minutes doesn't seem like a long time when you've been waiting for two years to see her. When he finally touches down on Galactica, it turns out to be closer to two hours, but his stomach is fluttering nonetheless. She'd never returned his calls, had never answered his three messages offering to talk, and he guesses he understands. There was a lot between them they'd never said. But all that doesn't stop the pounding of his heart when he finally finds her doing pushups in the brig.

"This seems familiar," he says. And it was.

94 the lowest mark Lee ever got on a flight stim

95 the mark that Kara got on that same exercise

96 the lowest mark Lee and Kara ever got when flying together. They always made scores of 100+ percent when they worked as a team. Lee, because that was his job. Kara, because she'd never let Lee beat her in the cockpit. Lee grinned, realizing that motivating Kara had somehow also become his job...and it was one he thoroughly enjoyed. This 96 had been 100+ but points got docked because Kara had scribbled caricatures of their instructor on the back of their flight report. The instructor found it insubordinate. Lee found it a good reason to frak Kara after class...

99: The number of times Lee touched Kara's face during those first days after they sent the fleet into the sun, telling her that they would be okay. In the end, he said, their hard life on this new Earth would be worth it. Despite everyone that they'd lost, and almost each other, it would all be okay. She'd smile and make a joke, pretending that she knew it all along.

But when he gathered her up in his arms and held her tight, he knew that she would need time to believe. And in some small part of himself, he realized that he needed time, too.
