So, where do you all stand on songfics and fanmixes?

A couple months ago (while procrastinating on the paper I posted a few days ago) I accidentally committed songfic, which seems a little embarrassing. But then I thought about it and I think that in the BSG fandom, songfic is really canonically sanctioned. After all, they wrote in Watchtower, so we should be able to write modern songs into the universe, too. Right? I don't know. Read the fic if you like, and see what you think.

In terms of fanmixes, I know I asked last week about song lyrics for icons, but what can I say? I like music. I thought I'd start us out with the celebrity iTunes playlists that Katee and Jamie each posted about a year and a half ago. Playlist titles and covers are mine.

I must say I'm a fan of fanmix's. I really love listening to music and relating it to situations (real or imagined). That's super lame, but oh well.

Songfic I don't really like. I would prefer it if the title was taken from a song but no actual song lyrics were in the body of the fic. I think this is mainly just annoying because I usually don't know the song mentioned or like the genre of music and I'm pretty picky and outspoken about the music I like. So if I don't like the song chosen or the style of music it ruins the fic for me.

Nonetheless I committed songfic years ago when I was about 13 and just starting out under a different username over at lj (I think it was a Firefly fic but I can't be sure). It got flamed so bad and I didn't write anything else for a long time. Moral of the story: song fic has the potential to go very wrong.

I really enjoy fanmixes because it's gives us so many ranges of emotions for pilots. Also, it has introduced me to some great music.

Thank you sharing your fanmix plus I didn't know Jamie and Katee had one too.:) It'll K/L music at work (not that it's not all the time:D)
