Greetings and salutations, 'shipper nation! This is Amy, known on your internets as [livejournal.com profile] ninjamonkey73, and I'm driving the DPP bus this week. Sit back and enjoy the ride...

Even before joining the fandom this year, I noticed that Battlestar Galactica turned up in some interesting places.

Two cases-in-point:

The Office- Generic BSG reference

The Big Bang Theory- Katee/Starbuck!

Where have you squeed or cringed to see our pilots or even just BSG get a mention? If you can link to them, even better! I can think of a couple of lists our pilots have made it on recently, but I don't want to use up all the good ideas. :) Link to a favorite interview with Jamie and/or Katee, a clip or image from TV/movies - anywhere you've seen BSG and pilots. And don't forget con reports/videos! A lot of us that joined the ranks recently missed a lot of quotable moments, so please, educate us.

i watched the office for a really long time, and one of the reasons it took me so long to start watching bsg was because dwight shrute was a fan. i was so mad at myself when i realized how amazing it was!!

I don't watch NCIS, but I happened to surf by this episode just in time to catch that reference. :-)

Didn't Sarah in Chuck wear a "Frak" top or something like that? My memory is faulty today. (Ok, not just today...)

These made me laugh

I thought these little Muppet parodies on YouTube were cute:

1) Muppetstar Galactica title sequence:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KDm1I_8nj14

2) Muppet Tigh summarizes the whole series in 30 seconds:

Hee!

I can't get to my bookmarks, but my fave interview is Jamie's three or four parter where he speaks in french and is all kinds of adorable. :)

I also love a recent crack vid of Lost/BSG (the one with the poof). Frakking hilarious!! Anyone got a link to this one??

Oh, I also got a kick out of Jamie and Katee's Paley Center interviews about their first impressions of the show and their characters and the audition process. They're so charming!

Thought of another:

Date: 2010-06-17 03:31 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] kag523.livejournal.com

I was at a fundraising masquerade a while back - dressed as Starbuck, of course - and ran into the mayor of our city, (who was dressed as Sweninger from Deadwood, I think). Anyhow, so the mayor, who doesn't know me at all, walks up and says:

"So, what did you think of Kara's poof?"

It was bizarre. The straight-laced mayor of our city watches BSG. So, yeah, I'll probably vote for him again, just based on this. (And that he watched Deadwood, which I loved too.)

And appearences can be deceiving. I'm pretty sure none of my students would imagine how I've been spending my spare time lately... :O

Last year, I made a post with BSG allusions and references on different TV shows:

I should update it. ;)

On 30 Rock, a Salma Hayek wore a "What The Frak?" t-shirt:

And on chuck, Sarah wore a "Frak Off" t-shirt:

I love these soundbites from Jamie, he's kind of adorable and makes a prophetic comment about the ending, which turned out to be not very far from the truth:
http://www.megavideo.com/?d=15HFNMH0

Then there is the red carpet interview in which he was asked what it feels like to play the universe's biggest badass' son and he said he was played the biggest badass' spurned lover (obv. referring to Kara).

There is a absolutely hilarious radio interview with Jamie too but I can't find it at the moment, maybe later...

The audio drama I work on has a ton.

Early on our main villain Max uses the term frak. His assistant Billy asks him if he watches BSG. Max replies "Of course. Why else do you think I have an assistant named Billy". Billy replies "Because you secretly want to be Laura Roslin?"

This is a bit of an aside, but I started watching Castle when I found out Trucco was on it and there was a really bizarre scene where Trucco is hitting on Beckett and then leaves the room and Castle made a comment about upsetting Beckett's apple cart and I thought whoa! Not only does Trucco end up playing Sammy again, he gets the same dialogue too. Hee.

Yes, that was exactly my thought too when they were doing the upsetting the applecart dialogue.:)

Um, one more and I hope this counts :-)

My best friend who turned me on to BSG in the first place has designed these really cool shirts on Cafe Press that just say "nothing but the rain" on them. Every time I wear it (which is alot, cuz ... er ... I own a few), I get stopped by at least one person who either yells "Whaddaya hear?" or "grab your gun & bring in the cat" or at least asks me what it means, which of course, leads to a LONG conversation with me rambling on and on about the fabulousness of BSG.

Tricia Helfer was guest starring on Burn Notice for a while and in the episode "Good Soldier" the main characters were doing surveillance on her while she was hanging out at a hotel pool and Michael asks Sam how the surveillance was going and Sam says, "She's got a hell of a breaststroke, Mike. I mean, the woman can swim. She's a machine."

a subtle reference to Tricia playing a Cylon on BSG

veronica mars s3 opened with an episode that had moe the r.a. introducing veronica and friends to the word 'frak', the 'profanity of the future'. veronica continued to use it sporadically throughout the rest of the season.
