Hi Everyone!

It's been nearly three months of the DPP here at No Takebacks and I thought maybe it was time to do a little check-in on how we're feeling. Everyone's been doing such a fantastic and creative job conducting the train, and we have our schedule filled to the end of September for more great posts. But it can be difficult to come up with new and exciting ideas for each day, and I thought it might be nice to give our future DPP drivers some feedback on what things will keep participation and enjoyment levels high. Some days maybe a pretty pic of kissing pilots is all we need, other days a long analysis about the thousands of reasons why they were eternal, epic soulmates is just what Doc Cottle ordered.

I don't know about y'all but BSG content and Pilots posts are pretty fleeting on my flist these days, so it's nice to know we have this comm to look forward to every day. However, I don't want anyone to feel burned out by it, as it would be great to keep this going a long time. So please respond to the poll, but also more importantly share your thoughts in the comments about how you'd like the DPP to develop!! Thanks!

Well, I only discovered BSG last year, after the show had already ended. I watched all the seasons in just a few weeks and felt really sad to know there would never be more of it see. That's when I started to look for fanfic to sort of fill in the void. I found fanfiction net and read lots of things there but most of the fanfic sites listed on google were not there anymore. So I started to look for fic recs. That is how I found No Takebacks. Shortly afterwards, the DPPs started and I started to voice my opinions here.

I understand that for most people here, lots of the discussions may seem old since you have been following our beloved pilots for such a long time. But for me, everything is still pretty new. I'm not tired of anything and I have been enjoying all the posts. It really amazes me to see so many creative, clever, articulate, fun people around here. I have no idea how you guys have been able to come up with so many topics to discuss. I think I could never do it. I'm really grateful, though, and I sure hope the future drivers keep the torch burning.

Since I'm pretty new to this comm, nothing about it is old for me and I'm really enjoying my daily dose of pilot love. But then again, I watched BSG in its entirety last December and was bemoaning the lack of discussion forums. I found you guys purely by accident after running a search for fic on LJ. I'm really enjoying the DPP and have made some awesome new friends, so my vote is let's keep it going!

As someone who has been around for years now, I gotta say that sometimes I just don't feel like analyzing (though don't get me wrong, sometimes I really really do, because it's something I enjoy), especially when the topic is a well-tread one and/or has caused drama in the past. Also, the DPPs usually go up when I'm at work, and I just don't normally have time to get that deep when I'm supposed to be doing something else. ;) So long story short, my votes went to more casual posts and spam parties. Maybe this is just me feeling my age in the fandom, but there you go.

I've been around for a couple of years. I think it's great that there is an active K/L shipper community, but I have to say that I'm so busy online that I don't have a lot of time to spend here, particularly on a daily basis. So for me, I'm more inclined to check out posts that are lighter picture based or fic links. But since I'm not really participating here much, not sure if my vote is as important :)

I said drop down to 3x a week because while I do really enjoy the DPP, I don't comment/participate all the time. Sometimes I am busy, sometimes I don't have anything to add, or sometimes it's just something I've discussed before. On the other hand, I do really appreciate something new on my flist everyday. But I do worry that for the long run, posting every day would just lead to more repetitive posts.

Also...could we have more tags? Like for the type of DPP?

I do read and enjoy the analysis/speculation/discussion DPPs, but I'm more likely to participate in the GIF/pic/games/icon/spam/etc. type ones.

And I'm seconding [livejournal.com profile] shah_of_blah's request to start using tags. Either by type or by the name of the poster?

My responses, right now, are colored by my current circumstances. I do enjoy reading what everyone is coming up with when I have time and energy, but I'm not in much of a contributing space, sadly, for reasons I'd rather not get into.

drop down to 3x a week because it is hard to participate every day. there are so many times i want to but real life gets in the way. if it were less frequent people might have an extra day or two to comment. :D

LOVE DPP!! Very thankful for the poll and everyone here. :D

I've chosen "drop down to 3x a week" because even though I enjoy the DPP a lot, I dunno, it's difficult to come up with different topics on a daily basis (sometimes I feel like I've already said everything I had to say about them) and I don't want to get burned out. Besides, sometimes RL makes it difficult to drop by to comment, so I'd appreciate the extra days.

As for the posts, I really enjoy the discussion/speculation stuff (especially the controversial/rant-y topics ;p), but I am ok with anything pilots-related.

Re. The tags. I've been thinking of that for a while now, we should definitely come up with something.

I enjoy everything very much, and I love participating, and I'm new to the fandom...but, all that being said, I think it might be hard to sustain new topics for months ahead without growing repetitive. Maybe yes, maybe no.

I think the important thing is that no one feel pressured, that everyone have a good time, and that people get the chance to contribute as much or as little as they want to.

Maybe we could leave the number of postings per week to the individual DPP driver? If they are bursting with fun ideas, then they can post the whole week, but if they are having a full week in real life or if they're having trouble coming up with topics that haven't been done to death, then they could post three times or less, whatever they feel comfortable with. The important thing would be to announce at the beginning of their DPP week what days they planned to post, so that readers would know and not have to check back multiple times or be disappointed not to see a new entry.

And I think it's a nice idea to leave one day a week open for people to post whatever is on their mind at the time instead of having to stick to the daily topic. For those who are still feeling fresh and full of discussion, then that would be a chance to make up for fewer daily posts with more chances to start their own conversational threads if they like.

Those would be my suggestions. Thanks for asking :)

Oh, I thought of one more suggestion ~ given what people have said about not always getting a chance to contribute on the day and then feeling like they've missed their chance, perhaps we could set aside one or both of the weekend days as the time for everyone to go back over their favorite posts of the week and continue those conversations if they have new thoughts to add. Everyone would be aware that new comments were coming up on the last week's posts, so latecomers wouldn't feel like they were talking to no audience, and it would give people who were feeling burned out or busy or otherwise occupied a chance to drop by once a week and contribute. Maybe the weekends could be a combined "Last Word" opportunity for the week's posts plus spam threads for people to start new discussions if the week's topics seem talked out.

It's been nice to see pilot posts on a daily basis, but I haven't had the energy to keep up with lj much less DPP. This is evidenced by my two day delay in even seeing this post.

I could go with weekly, but I certainly don't want to restrict anyone from their daily fun.

Tags would be a great tool for those times when I'd like to catch up.
