So many times the only thing keeping our beloved pilots apart are the pilots themselves. Obviously, someone needs to sit down and talk to them, and that is where you come in. Imagine that you can have one conversation with Kara and one with Lee. What would you say, and when in the series would you say it?

Does slapping them both silly count as "one conversation?"

I think I'd like to sit Kara down when she wakes up The Morning After on New Caprica and give her a little talk about how 1) she's going to destroy Lee if she walks away from him after that night and 2) she really needs to get over herself -- she is not the harbinger of doom, and everything she touches is not necessarily bound to go wrong. Yes, she's made mistakes, but she's got to live with them, and wallowing and denying herself everything isn't going to atone for any of it.

Not that I think any of it would work, but still. Tempting.

Awkward Family Dinner

Somewhat rambling thought... I grew up in a - for lack of better word – “odd” family. One of the things I loved BEST about it, was that every once in a while (like when my teen sister was hiding a tattoo, or my brother had a bill he couldn't pay, or I had a boyfriend Dad didn’t approve of) that we'd just lay it all out, uncomfortable as it was, at a family dinner, and hash out a solution. No one was allowed to scream; no one was allowed to leave; everyone got to voice their opinion. Icky, unclean and awful sometimes. Proactive and effective? YES. So this is what I'd do:

"Hey, Kara and Lee, I thought we should talk about that thing that happened on New Caprica..." (Everyone looks up from meal. Awkward silence ensues.) "Oh yes, guys, EVERYONE knows what happened." (Sends knowing look to Admiral Adama and Roslin who are looking uncomfortable on the other side of the table. Bill takes off his glasses.)

"So yeah, let's just get that out there. Rip off the bandage if you will. Kara and Lee, you've been in love, since, well, forever -" (shuffling noise as Kara goes to bolt out the door, but I've already posted my buddy Helo there and he drags her back. She’s swearing.) "Nope, seriously, give me a second here Kara... Thanks for sitting down again. And Lee, you can stop giving me that look, ‘cause you know you weren’t free of blame either." (Sam and Dee are now whispering together at the side).

“Anyhow, back to business. You guys slept together. Everyone knows it’s been coming for a long time. Certainly since the whole Colonial Day incident...” (Turns to Sam.) “Sorry darlin’, but that would make you a rebound twice now... and Dee, accepting that it is happening, doesn’t make it any better for you either.” (Shakes head.) “Sorry sweetie. Now why don’t you guys go grab a coffee or something. I’ll send the lawyers by tomorrow at ten.” (Two of the QOD leave.)

“Now, let’s just deal with this here. Bill – I can hear you grumbling – but Zak’s been dead a long time. You’ve got to start giving some support here. Laura, pull your own weight for a change; you know the man listens to you alone. Use that power for good, please. Alright. First thing, Lee, stop trying to make Kara think like YOU think... that’s never gonna work, and I’m surprised that someone as smart as you hasn’t figured that out yet. Next, Kara, for just a moment, give yourself the benefit of the doubt that what you WANT and what you NEED, just might be the same thing... It sounds crazy, but every once in a while, that happens.” (Turns back to the door, where Helo is.)

“Helo, mind grabbing that ambrosia now?” (Turns back to everyone at the table.) “Okay, so let’s get talking about how this can work...”

Yeah, you'd have to have grown up with me to appreciate the beauty of it. We kids all turned out just fine. :>D (Although my husband does tell me I'm "brutally honest" on a regular basis.)

OMG!! YES!! I think this is a great way to get the message across to Lee and Kara. Can you just imagine the horror on their faces when this conversation starts?:D

My one conversation would be this and it would be shortly before Maelstrom:

"Kara, your 'destiny' can be whatever you make of it. All that has happened before DOES NOT have to happen again. Free will has power. People can change."

OOPS read the directions wrong. This is what I'd say to Lee and I'd say it in the Final Cut/Flight of the Phoenix time frame.

"Lee, Zak would want you both to be happy. Go and get her and MAKE IT STICK. And convince her beyond a doubt why you want HER specifically, why she's the one that you need and nothing else matters. It's going to be a lot of work, but you'll both be so much better off."

I've been pondering this for a while and I think that any thing I could say would have to be said before Kara goes off to Kobol. For me, that's a real turning point. Until then, it seems like K/L are more typical in their "misunderstandings" of each other.

So the scene is after Lee gets in Kara's face about Baltar and they punch each other.

I'd say to Kara, "Do you know why Lee just freaked out on you? Why he's jealous? Cause he's in love with you. Has been for a very long time. He's being a jerk about it, but don't go off to Kobol before you two make up."

I'd say to Lee, "You frakking moron. Why'd you attack her? Why didn't you tell her why you were so upset instead of acting like a big jerk? Go and talk to her and tell her why you are so pissed off. She hurt you. Tell her how you feel."

Not that I think that'd work, cause it's pilots, but at least it could be a start. :)

Personally, I like [profile] utenatai's idea of just slapping them silly. I also wouldn't mind locking them up in a room till they got their shit together. But for talking....

I think I'd talk to Lee on Colonial Day, just tell him to go for it and don't leave her side all night.

As for Kara, it would be Colonial Day but Lee hasn't left her side and she is starting to panic so I'd tell, you deserve to be happy, Lee makes you happy just let yourself be happy and don't over think it.

There would praying on my part that they'd listen to my advise.:) *prays*

Your statement: "Kara, your 'destiny' can be whatever you make of it. All that has happened before DOES NOT have to happen again. Free will has power. People can change," is EXACTLY what I kept hoping the writers of BSG would eventually do for her. Loved that line! You've got is PERFECTLY *hugs*

Ahhahahaaaa! I LOVE the image of you strutting up to Lee and calling him a "frakking moron" to his face. OMG that is so awful and hilarious at the same time. PERFECT! (I suddenly want to write THAT scene.)

*falls on floor laughing*
