DPP: Pilots online

So, I have a confession. I spend a lot of time on the internet. I know, I know, it's a shocker. But seriously. I have a Twitter, an LJ, a Dreamwidth, a Myspace, a Facebook, eighty-million email accounts and screenames, and now everyone is joining Tumblr (Tumblring?), and I'm soon to cave.

This has me thinking. If our pilots could spend time surfing the web, what would they do? Would they be in fandoms? Would Kara be writing fic that would make a sailor blush? Would Lee send daily email forwards to his co-workers with all the LOLCAT macros he thought were hilarious? If they had Twitter handles, what would they be? @starbuck? @apollo? @karathraceismoreawesomethanyou? Would @arrowofapollo make an appearance? ;)

This is partly a silly!fun question, but it could also be a serious!fun question. You could speculate about what fandom might look like in the BSG 'verse, discuss the nature of online relationships and our pilots might behave in that kind of community, write twitter!fic, write blog entries for our pilots, Kara's list of prompts for a fic battle, post Kara's most recent Facebook status updates, et cetera. The possibilities are as wide as the internet and your imaginations! I'm looking forward to seeing what you come up with.

It's too small. I don't know how you people with Netbooks do it. At least I have the internet. Anything interesting going on out there? Seriously, guys. There's nothing new on the warcollegecomm, I've read through all the recipes on Smitten Kitchen, and all the Fandom!Secrets from today are about Supernatural. I don't even watch that show!

(Just, you know, don't send me any links to Kara's latest, ah, fic projects. I know what she's writing, okay? It's ALL NSFW. I have enough problems with this idiot co-worker already.)

Kara would be all THEY SEE ME TROLLIN, THEY HATIN. Lee would be looking for updates on his war college comm and legal blogs and foodie comms. Lee doesn't really understand fandom, but he is in a KateeSackhoffDaily comm. He just thinks she's really pretty and stuff. ♥ And I think he plays historical war games and Carcassonne and Kara plays Starcraft.

OMG. I''m just like that too. I swear my laptop is surgically attached to my ... er ... lap. We just got an iPad too and that's even worse, because it's so light and easy to tote around. I'm on FB, Twitter, Foursquare, have a bazillion email addresses, three blog sites and most recently, thanks to all you lovely people, instead of just lurking and making occasional comments, I've started posting to LJ. Don't really remember a time when we didn't have all of this. Life must've been kinda dull is all I'm sayin'.

Gotta run now, but I'll be back later with some stuff. This is a fun post!

Kara is absolutely and unquestionably a fan of first-person shooter games. As long as they're somewhat realistic. I could actually picture her doing critiques for first-person shooter games:

The game play is smooth, and the graphics are pretty, but that's the extent of the good that can be said for this game. The game presents us with extremely contrived scenarios, and the controls have frak-all to do with anything you might see in the real world. If you're playing for eye-candy, then by all means, enjoy the feast. But if you're looking for a game with substance, something that will get your blood pumping and your heart rate up, keep looking. -3 stars.

Lee, I think would be more of an e-mail/cause-related internet user. Yes, for work, but he'd also use it for research (especially of legal topics, but anything he was interested in), and I expect he'd do a lot of online organizing for whatever (aside from Kara) he's feeling passionate about at any given moment.

LOL. You are kinda reading my mind maybe! I was thinking seriously just yesterday about what Lee would do on the internet!! Which led to thinking about what Kara would do on the internet of course. (There may be some googling happening...IF YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN.)

I wish I had more time to do this. Damn. But I am so enjoying everyone's suggestions. What would happen if Kara played Resistance 2?! Would her brain explode when she saw Dr. Cassie Aklin? Hee.
Would they wonder why Crashdown is the one in that Star Wars video game?

The first rule of the SYTWKT Club is that WE DON'T TALK ABOUT THE SYTWKT CLUB. At least, not while Lee's around.

This does lead to some hilarity on F!S, when n00bs are all like, "I'VE SEEN KARA'S TITS, S!B FANDOM WOULD BE SOOOOO JEALOUS" and there are a zillion comments like, "WHO HASN'T? SEE YOU AT THE NEXT CON!"

When Lee stumbles upon the FB page, his FML update will be awesome.
