First one - easy.

Second one - *eyes bleeding*

The Brig scene is my favorite pilots scene of all time. But is it the best, most important pilot scene? I'm gonna say No. The brig scene confirms their love for each other. It is beautiful but it does not significantly change their relationship or fix it. I love it, but...

The match ends the hate. That had to happen.

*sighs and clicks The Match*

Ray! Are you trying to kill me??? Gahhhhhh.

So this is getting really really hard now. The UB boxing match is the definitive moment where they crossed the line and we knew for certain that they could never stay away from one another. It's painful to watch them beat on each other but you totally get it and what it's resolving.

However, The Brig Scene is my baby. It's when we see our pilots all grown up. They accept each other without question. Lee finally understands Kara and the journey that's she's on. Kara finally sees Lee in this whole new light and sees the man he's becoming. There is classic banter but there are no arguments, no pointed fingers, no debate about spouses or their pasts. It's acceptance, faith and love. Kara lets her walls down and accepts Lee's comfort and support and in doing so shows Lee just how much he means to her because she never did that with anyone else. So yeah...this is probably way more long winded then it needed to be but my heart belongs to this scene.

I didn't find the first one easy. I'm in the minority right now, but I like her giving him permission to do his job and be her boss and being all in his face. It says more about their friendship/relationship than the no takebacks which didn't move them forward at all, even though he, um, spontaneously kissed her right before that. I mean, I love no takebacks and I'm sure it will make the finals without me, but I'm still miffed they NEVER discussed him kissing her in Home I.

Aghhh!, the second one, so tough! UB is my favorite episode and the match is pilots' relationship in a nutshell: the intensity, the passion, the pain, the love and their mutual need to forgive each other no matter what. But I am voting for the brig scene because, as much as I adore the match, the brig scene is all about grown up pilots. It's a very mature and honest interaction. I always enjoyed Kara and Lee's romantic dysfunctionality, but in all honesty all I ever wanted for them was to reach a point in their relationhip where they could behave like adults.

UGHHHHHHHHHHHH That was SO HARD!

I'm a Smack You in the Mouth fan so that was easy... but the second question. Wow. It was so hard to pick! Do I select the scene where they declare their love (the "engagement" as Taragel put it) or do I pick the Dance where they reunite and work out issues.... UGH. OK my gut is saying the brig scene.

Your argument is persuasive, my dear. The Brig scene is AMAAAZIING. Gods, I love it! But without the fight, the beautiful choreography and editing, raw emotion and UST, the pilots would have been stuck. Stuck in pain and anger - always separated by Kara's rejection. There is healing and re-connecting in The Match. It will never be my favorite, but in terms of moving the pilots towards their eventual end (wah!), it seems the best.

(Mostly, I am trying to convince myself here. LOL.)

*paces with continued indecision*

Yes, disappointing that they never addressed THE KISS. But, even though it wasn't addressed, it did confirm Lee's feelings for her. I wish she'd have noticed a little more. *pouts*

Hee. You know, the funny thing about the match vs the brig scene is that I adore the powerful and gorgeous cinematography in the match and the brig scene... well, I don't even like the way it was shot! (especially the kiss, epic fail!) But still, I choose the brig scene, it's pilots fully embracing their feelings and being completely functional. I am glad we had the chance to see them like that :)

I'm so torn! I love the all-grown-up pilots. It is a very satisfying scene. Do you like the aired or extended edition?

*shakes fists at ray for making me choose*

Mmm... I love the extended scene because of all the Aurora figurine thing, it's really lovely (and I am still wondering if Kara gave it back to Lee after the Demetrius). But I adore the "I believe you" from the aired edition... So I can't choose, I love both equally for different reasons ;p

I love when he brushes the hair off her face in the extended. Gods, it's so affectionate and loving. The aired version is sweet and intense, but I love more words between them and her crying. It's amazing to see her cry with him. She seems so free and trusting.

Oh yes, Kara crying kills me every time. I love that she is so openly vulnerable in front of him. And how Lee comforts her. That's what love looks like. *swoons*

Oh, Lords of Kobol! Someone give me a drink...fast. Ok *glug* *glug* *chug* I had to go with the match because I don't think we could have had the Brig Scene without The Match. It was as if they descended into their own personal hell (sorry Sam & Dee, but I think those marriages were at least a wee bit of purgatory) and had to literally fight their way out. They paid for their relationship with blood...literally. I absolutely adore the Brig Scene and agree with everyone's comments. It's my personal favorite. BUT I have to go with The Match as the more pivotal scene for pilots!

And happy Mem Day weekend, y'all!

Argh.

Also with thinking this is NOT EASY.

Before Baltar's Hair Ate The Universe...

Smack You in the Mouth sets up the balance that defines Pilots. They recognize each other as complete equals, but understand that there are times when their jobs (or the situation or whatever) will require one of them to take direction from the other. They also light up the damn flight deck. They bring out the best in each other and pull it to the fore. They help each other find hope when everything seems impossible. They keep each other going.

No Takebacks sets us up for the angst that will follow -- I don't think that Scar or the night on NC would have happened without that scene (or the kiss that came before). It's the point where their feelings (or at least Lee's) get laid out on the table, even if he tries to disguise them by placing the word "friend" next to them.

But I think Smack You In The Mouth is the better scene.

After The Conquest of Baltar's Hair...

Gods, this is impossible.

The Match... They've nursed their anger and their fear, their resentment and their UST and their broken hearts for over a year. They've danced around each other and around their feelings and it finally, FINALLY comes to a head. Kara's behavior toward Dee (and Lee) is disgusting and Lee's frantic scrambling to reassure her is pathetic at best and at it's heart equally disrespectful. But Pilots often speak louder through their actions than through their words, and once they're in that ring the world disappears again. It's the two of them and their hearts on their sleeves and while they beat each other to a pulp before they get to it, in the end they've reaffirmed that they can't stay away from each other. They need each other on a soul-deep level that they simply cannot deny.

But the Brig Scene is Pilots at their finest. It's what we all hoped the end of the journey would be. It sets up the acceptance and understanding and maturity and actual communication that really does define the end of their journey (lies in a field be damned). And again they reaffirm that they are what they want. They each carry a piece of the others' heart in their soul. And the acceptance they find in this moment is so sweet and deep and profound... It pays back all the tortured moments when they pulled themselves apart because they were afraid being together was the wrong thing to do. Like a reward for all that's gone before.

So I'm voting the Brig Scene.

For this one I just followed my gut and chose my votes in less than 5 seconds. Otherwise, if I thought about it too much, I would never make a decision! I chose No Takebacks and The Match, and it feels right. :)

Ok this is getting harder and harder,
pre-baltar's hair - "smack in the mouth" vs "no takebacks"
I voted smack in the mouth because it sets up from the very first beginning what the pilot are to each other and who they are in general she's the girl who will tell him what to do even though he's her superior officer and he will always try to be her friend and listen even when he shouldn't. It is one of the scenes if not the scene that defines pilots in the first two seasons for me.

Post Baltars hair
This is a much harder decision because bitg scenes are incredible and the definition of pilots in there respective season, the match is the confrontation that needed to happen in season three and the brig scene in the confirmation of everything the pilots had become post the match. Which is the reason I voted for the match becaus everything that came after it came because of it.

May I just make a small suggestion? This week we have voted for the Best Kara/Lee scene in terms of its importance to their character. Maybe in the future, we could vote for our favourite Kara/Lee scene. Because it seems to me from the comments that they are not always the same scene.

I know to me, the Season 4.5 The Oath scenes were Kara and Lee are kicking ass together (shotting guns at the mutineers, looking after each other's backs etc) are probably one of my all time favourite Kara/Lee scenes. But in terms of the importance of these scenes to their overall development - not so much so - the very next episode, Sam gets shot and so Kara looks out for Sam (understandably), but pretty much ignores Lee. So the scene didn't really change anything, but it is so the reason I love Kara/Lee - their equality and kick-assness. :)

Wow, I missed round 3, but it ended up the way I would have voted for the most part. Now I am having major angst about this round for the reasons Jen and Cosette already mentioned.

Smack You in the Mouth is when I fell hopelessly in love with pilots. I already loved them, especially Kara, since my first bsg episodes were watched out of order, but this scene sealed my fate. It's why I'm here with all of you instead of having enjoyed the K/L dynamic and then moved on to other things. That look they got from Chief sums up how priceless it was. No Takebacks is classic though and the first time they fully admit, out loud, to one another that they love each other.

I also think it's interesting...scifishipper and I may cancel each other out on the second one, for the exact opposite reasons. The Match is my all-time favorite pilots scene, but the Brig scene is our pilots as adults...and we needed that resolution.

Okay, I chose No Takebacks and the Match. Both were hard, hard choices. I think the Brig scene lost simply because I still have so much frustration with S4 in general that I often think of my canon pilots thru UBEX and then go more for fandom pilots after that. I don't know though, I still feel torn and like I *should* be voting Brig. It just wasn't enough for me. That one scene doesn't make up for all the S4 crap when it comes to K/L. I love our pilots as adults and in love...I just choose to think maybe that started at the "I Miss You"s and ignore EoJ and TAB and all that. Ugh, I love you, Brig, I just can't vote for you...today. I expect finals will be No Takebacks vs. Brig though, and likely Brig will win me over for that one. I am so torn, indecisive, and thinking with rose-colored glasses tonight. This one is SO hard. I could write essays on how gorgeous each of these four scenes are, which, I think, is a testament to how well we have chosen the best from each season.
