There's no question that Pilots are a source of inspiration for a lot of people.  Sometimes it's in obvious ways...

And sometimes it's less obvious...

(Follow the link for the whole story – those socks were inspired by Starbuck and Apollo.  Hee!)

So, what are some of your favorite (good or bad) arts, crafts and creations* that were inspired by the pilots?  What would you like to do or see done that you just don't have the skill for (and don't know any one else who does, either).

*You know I love fic and vids and icons, right?  Of course you do.  Because I love them!  But I'm looking for other stuff this time.  Paintings and image manipulations, clothing and jewelry, toys and sculptures and etc.  Anything goes and there are no limits!

Here's my own contribution: the mandala washcloth (http://users.livejournal.com/wisteria_/712498.html).

I tried knitting the Viper Pilots pattern last year, but I only got just past the heel of one sock. That thing is HARD! Tons and tons of cabling. Plus, it's not stretchy at all, which meant I couldn't pull it over my big foot. Alas!

Ooh, nice! I keep threatening to knit a mandala hat. I should really get on that.

Oo! Make a mandala hat with a pom-pom, so it looks like Jayne's from Firefly! :)

Did you know someone turned wisteria's washcloth pattern into a hat pattern already?

Yup! There's also the cylon centurion knitted hat: http://docs.google.com/fileview?id=0B93TuOHePwJiOGM0ZjExN2MtMDhkMi00NWY4LWFjNjYtOGM2YWIxMWVmMmVl&hl=en

and Kara Thrace and her sweater destiny: http://megiknit.livejournal.com/11588.html

And one very awesome Doc Cottle afghan: http://www.ravelry.com/projects/sacajawea610/doc-cottle-afghan

I'm pretty sure someone made knitted cylon raiders too but can't find em at the moment.
