Good morning, Shipper Nation.  Welcome to day two of my reign of terror the land of rainbows and kittens.  I have one question for you:

How did those crazy kids meet?

Disregard the lame-ass flashbacks in Daybreak for a moment.  I know that EVERY SINGLE ONE OF YOU has their own version in their head of how Kara and Lee met.  So guess what, peeps?  I want to hear it.

Was it funny? Angsty? Silly? Did sparks fly? Was it the traditional rom-com meetcute or a full-out confrontational exchange? Did the earth move and angles weep?  Did they know each other as kids?  Meet at the Academy?  Attend band camp together?

Whatever it is, I need to know, so spill, m'kay?  *g*

NOTE:  For purposes of this discussion, I'm asking you to forget about the DB flashbacks and go back and remember what your theory was before we were bombarded with all that.  (Not just because of the controversial table scene but because the meeting and subsequent early interactions of K/L deserve their OWN FRAKKING MINISERIES-- NOT FIVE MINUTES IN A HASTILY-WRITTEN FINALE.)

Nope. Never happened.:P (Unless it was after Zak died sex which is a horse of a different color entirely)

As with everything, we bring personal baggage to perception, so, eith my oldest sister glasses firmly on, I cannot reconcile it. Maybe, maybe Kara could have moved on in their friendship, but Lee, the big brother, could not have. There are things you just do not do to your siblings, add Zak's death to a really repellant betrayal - surely they are adults enough to keep it in their pants - and. . . you don't recover from that.

I tend to be in innibis's camp on this one. I was fine with the K/L flashbacks until the last one, which I felt really ruined the dynamics we had loved so much in the miniseries ~ I just don't believe 'the table' of either of them, especially Lee, *especially* not six hours after they met. To me, it's important that they grow into an amazing friendship leavened with the unacknowledged, tantalizing sense of missed opportunity for something more. But that's just my personal canon, and I know many fabulous authors have written very engaging angst around this. But for me, they just can't have a physical, or even that-close-to-physical, relationship during the Zak era and then come back and do their friendship-rivalry-budding-romance song and dance later on. That's not how I like to imagine them. And honestly, the quadrangle of doom was so unpleasant for me that I hate to think of it as their continuing relationship pattern. I want them to bring out better things in each other. I want the Zak era to have a glow around it.

Anyhow, I'll post a few of my daydreams on their first meeting below. Thanks for the interesting analysis :)
