I think stripes13 started watching about the same time too. You're never too late to come to the party. ; )

I got to power through half on DVDs and watch the rest in real time. I must say, I really prefer just shotgunning whenever possible. It sucked so bad to have to wait a week between new eps and the hiatuses were just torture.

Oh, but it was so much more exciting when the new episodes were airing! And I think that excitement heightened my own enjoyment of 4.0 and 4.5. Plus, I think I would've been far more critical if I'd been watching them all straight through.

This is very true-- the weekly excitement hit near-hysteria levels, especially right at the end. And real-time squee is always fun. It's just that you get so spoiled being able to flip to the next one whenever you want. ; )

Oh my god, the hysteria! I used to watch the new episodes first thing on Saturday, then I would be essentially unable to function like a normal human being for the rest of the day. I didn't know how we were going to survive the post-Revelations hiatus, but somehow we made it.

We actually found we were less aggravated about specific plotpoints watching straight through than people seem to have been in the fan threads we've found from when they aired. If I'd had to wait through the writer's strike, with this much mentally invested, and fanfic pouring out of me (albeit slowly), I would have been a bit more... ragey... over some of the choices. And the character assasinations we later were put through.

Hmm, that's funny! I'm pretty much the opposite. When season 4 was airing, I was just so excited and so desperate to enjoy it that I turned a blind--or near-sighted--eye to a number of things. Also, when I had to wait a week between each episode I was less conscious of how things were adding up (or failing to) in the larger scheme.
