Date: 2012-12-01 01:20 pm (UTC)I woke up this morning MISSING pilots like crazy. I think they've had enough of me frakking around on them. ;)
I'm really excited for this. Thank you for running it. <3

From:The Mandala Manicure
Date: 2012-12-02 04:24 pm (UTC)_______________________________________
SUPPLIES NEEDED:
1 bottle of opaque black OR dark blue nail polish
1 makeup sponge (more like a few small pieces of a makeup sponge, cut up)
1 bottle of yellow nail polish (can also be bronze or gold, and should be the kind that isn't super-sheer)
1 bottle of red nail polish
1 bottle of (ligher/brighter) blue nail polish
1 bottle of clear polish with glitters (optional) to finish off
Q-tips/cotton buds (to clean off any mess with)
nail polish remover
______________________________
STEP 1: Paint your nails with the dark blue or black polish, and wait for it to dry - creme or shimmer finishes are preferable, but whatever it is, it should be opaque in 1 coats.
STEP 2: Once your nails are dry, take the sponge and use it to dab your yellow/gold/bronze polish (I used bronze here, but yellow/gold is closer to Kara's mandala drawing) in a circle on your nails. (you can use the edge of the sponge to dab colour, if you feel your circles will turn out too thick otherwise)
STEP 3: Wait for the bronze polish to dry, then use the edge of the sponge to dab red nail polish in a circle inside the bronze. (it doesn't have to be a perfect circle, but it should look like these are sort of circular, and preferably a thin circle - you want the bronze to still be visible).
STEP 3: Once the red polish dries, use a piece of sponge to dab your bright blue nail polish in the centre of the circles.
STEP 4: (optional) use a clear polish with some silver glitters in it on the areas of the nail that aren't covered by the mandala, for a 'galaxy' effect.
and your mandala manicure is complete! It's super easy to do if anyone feels like trying it - and if you don't want to do all ten nails, it's easy enough to paint all the rest of your nails a solid colour and have the nebula/mandala manicure on one nail, as an accent.
PS: You can clean up any messes made on the skin of your fingers using a Q-tip r cotton bud soaked in nail polish remover.

Date: 2012-12-08 06:31 am (UTC)She bites back the stupid grin tugging at her lips and hands the clipboard to the Chief.
"Everything good, Cap?"
"Good enough, Chief. Let's roll." He nods and walks away.
Kara takes a breath and places a foot on the ladder to the cockpit. She's just grasping the rails to pull herself up when a loud exclamation makes her turn.
"Gods frakking dammit!" Chief is yelling, pale-faced and furious as he hangs up the phone. "Cally! Jammer! I need tubes 3 and 4 cleared and two raptors prepped for the Pegasus RFN!"
Pegasus. Kara pivots. "Chief! What's going on?" He ignores her, pacing rapidly across the deck, shouting out orders, and Kara strides faster to catch up. "CHIEF! I need a sitrep stat!"
Tyrol turns, looking almost surprised to see her. "Captain you need to get out of here, we need these tubes free!"
Kara grinds her teeth, reaches out and grabs the man by his orange jumpsuit, barely resisting the urge to shake the information out of him. "WHAT IS GOING ON WITH THE PEGASUS?"
He blinks and says quietly. "Cylons have boarded the ship, sir."
Lee, she thinks and freezes, her heart hammering into overdrive. And then she's moving, running back to her ship, calling over her shoulder. "Change my flight course to Pegasus, Chief."
"What about the mission?" he yells after her.
But Kara's already up the ladder and sliding her helmet on, closing the canopy above her. She powers up the viper, trying to breathe and not think. Her hand's shaking as she reaches for the console, and it pauses over the button to clear the jump coordinates. She closes her eyes, and for a second she pictures Anders, cornered at the school, those metal motherfrakkers pinning him and the C-Bucs down. And then the image ripples, dark hair and blue eyes shifting and it's Lee's face she's seeing.
Kara curses and sends a prayer up to the gods in the same breath. Sammy will be alright. Helo will make sure. But Lee...
Lee needs her.
The landing gear disengages and Kara grasps the throttle and floors it, hurtling out of the launch bay and into the dark of space.
***
She takes down two of those metal motherfrakkers and a skinjob before she finds him, in the corridor outside of CIC, armed to the teeth and shouting commands to two pale-faced bridge bunnies who barely look old enough to shave on his six. Blood spatters his dress blues and the side of his face, but he's upright and he's pissed off and that's a good sign. This time Kara lets the stupid grin stretch from ear to ear, as she falls in next to him.
"You provide cover fire, lieutenant, and we need to get down to Causeway C where the arms lockers are."
"Copy that, sir, but it's captain now," Kara says, grinning as Lee's head whips around.
"Kara! What the--?" He stops, his eyes wide with amazement. "Shouldn't you be halfway back to Caprica right now, Captain?"
Kara shrugs, squeezes off a round as another cylon clanks into view at the end of the corridor. Lee fires too and the robot falls under the combined barrage of their bullets.
"Had another rescue op that took priority." She chances a glance at him. "Heard my wingman got himself into a bit of trouble."
A slow smile spreads across Lee's face. "Your wingman? Did you just demote me, Starbuck?"
Kara rolls her eyes, still grinning. "Is now really the time to be a superior asshole, Apollo?"
They just stand there, staring and grinning, until one of the lieutenants behind them coughs then nervously says, "Uh sirs, should we get going?"
Lee straightens and the smile drops off his face. "Fall in," he barks, his voice ringing with authority. "Have your weapons ready, but conserve your ammo. It's imperative we secure that locker."
"Yes, sir, Commander!" The lieutenants chorus, and a sense of nostalgia fills Kara. She's missed this. Missed him.
"Starbuck?" Lee questions at her silence. "Are you with me?"
She is. She always will be. Kara salutes, eyes sparkling. "On your six, Apollo."

From:Christmas Miracles (Prompt: Christmas cookies, traditions, surprise gift)
Date: 2012-12-10 07:43 am (UTC)"I love that movie," Zak sighs. Kara looks at Lee and they both roll their eyes.
"What?" He asks, eyes wide. "It's the best Christmas movie! And Maureen O'Hara is a fox."
"Oh, you have a thing for redheads now, huh?" Kara says, her voice dropping low. "I'll have to remember that." She climbs into his brother's lap and Lee looks away quickly, reaching for a Christmas cookie and shoving it whole into his mouth. He chews as loudly as possible, but still hears the unmistakable smack of their lips meeting. Lee wishes the floor would open up and swallow him whole.
He should be used to this by now, but somehow it's like a gut punch every time. At the beginning of the summer, Lee finished his tour on the USS Valkyrie and came home, only to find that his brother had a new girlfriend--who just happened to be the most infuriating, bewildering, and utterly captivating woman Lee had ever met. He's not sure if the past six months have been the worst or the best of his life.
"I think we're embarrassing your brother," he hears Kara stage whisper and flushes. He didn't realize he was being so damn obvious. Lee thinks of the decision he made earlier today and knows he made the right choice.
"I should get going anyway," he says, and gets to his feet.
They both protest, and Kara hops up and strides over to him, grabbing his arm. "You can't leave me!" He makes the mistake of looking into her eyes, which sparkle green in the reflected light from the Christmas tree. She grins conspiratorially and leans closer, and Lee gets a whiff of sugar and beer and Kara and his breath catches. "He'll probably make me sing carols or some shit, next."
"God, the two of you are such Scrooges!" Zak exclaims, setting his own bottle down on the coffee table and throwing his arms wide. "Where is your holiday spirit, huh?
“Christmas is overrated.”
"Oh come on, it's like the movie says!” He cries earnestly. “You have to believe or your wishes won't come true."
"Well, that's nothing new," Lee can't help grumbling under his breath.
"Bro, you are such a killjoy when it comes to the holidays!"
"Because it's all cornball crap!” Lee explodes finally. “You've made me watch these movies every year since we were kids and--"
"It's tradition!" Zak crows.
"--AND," Lee continues "they're bullshit. I mean, they're all nice fantasies, about how Christmas should be about more than commercialism and how if you just wish hard enough, angels will get their wings, and all this stuff. And the reality is all this illusion just makes people feel worse."
"Yup," Kara chirps. "Suicides are highest in December, you know." She winks at Lee.
"That's a myth!"
"And you have to battle twice the normal amount of traffic to get anywhere."
Kara stretches a hand out to snag a cookie off the plate. "And all these sweets make you get fat!"
"Oh come on!" Zak exclaims. "I mean, I expect this of Lee, he's always been all, Bah Humbug! about the holidays. But, et tu, Kara?"

Shadowing Through
Date: 2012-12-16 04:01 pm (UTC)“We can’t go any further, Kara,” Lee tells her. “This is just a projection. A map. Not really place. I bet if you go too far you end up back in that room with all the statues.”
“Maybe,” Kara answers. “But we’ll never know if we don’t check it out. Come on.” Her hand swings through brushing the back of his hand like she’s going to take it, drag him along. Instead she goes running past the obelisks and into the darkness. Lee gives chase. He would follow her anywhere.
As Lee predicted they end up in the anti-chamber again and again until it’s a game between the two of them. Starbuck and Apollo. Everyone else can prepare to get back to the fleet and the pressing matters of survival rather than linger in the god-made map to Earth, but Kara and Lee continue their game. Laughing, tagging, making the most of this respite. Living this moment.
Then Kara yelps in pain. Lee’s half way to the ring to monoliths but whips around in time to see her being swallowed up by the grass. “Kara! You all right?” he calls.
“Yeah. Yeah, fine,” she yells up from below the level of the grass.
Lee turns back for her, scoops her up and carries her back to the mouth of the cave. Kara kicks and hits at him the whole ride. She lets out squeals that fall somewhere between genuine annoyance and a continuation of their game as they exit the Tomb of Athena, return to the glowing green world of Kobol.
“I can walk from here,” Kara insists, rolling out of his arms.
She only gets three steps before she falls to the dirt. At first it looks like she tripped. Lee edges forward trying to preserve her dignity. Kara doesn’t move, doesn’t protest when he drops down next to her brushes the hair off her face. She’s completely passed out.
Lee carries her back to the raptor. He’d carry her all the way to Earth too so they could explore the real thing. On the return trip to Galactica his mind is racing, guessing at things that could have happened on Caprica. Cylons and nuclear fallout. Anything. Everything. He should have stopped her from going. Shouldn’t have hurt her and made her leave.
the rest is here. (http://kdbleu.livejournal.com/31075.html)

From:Fashioned New from Old Cloth (PG-13)
Date: 2012-12-23 04:06 pm (UTC)His first steps onto the soft soil feel strange, almost unsteady in the stillness around him. He has not been planetside for more than three years and it fills him with a breathless wonder. The air is crisp and clean, almost without smell, strange to a nose that has breathed recycled air for so long. From the raptor next to his, Laura and his father emerge, eyes wide, but mouths set grim. They are afraid to believe.
Lee catches his father’s eye and raises his eyebrows, not quite ready to burst into a grin. Their celebration cut short by an accident that left nine crew dead from an explosion off the starboard bow. Now, as he stands looking towards a fresh beginning, it is tainted by those who didn’t make it, despite their long journey together. Dee, his wife and friend, lost with Racetrack and Skulls and a handful of other crew. Even now, he can’t look at the sea, and stares instead at the ground, his eyes welling with tears. They came so close.
He startles at the hand on his shoulder. “You okay, son?” his father asks. It almost makes him cry harder, the care and concern etched on the Old Man’s face. Something changed after Saul’s betrayal. His father, once hard and proud, seems smaller now, even in the face of finding Earth. It’s just been too much.
Unable to speak, Lee nods, swiping away tears. He looks east toward the rolling hill and a swatch of trees at the base. Wildflowers grow tall, dappling the view with color. It’s the perfect spot for Dee’s final rest. Earth at last. She deserved more.
“Come on. Let’s take a walk.” His father says, brushing past him.

A Moment of Truth, PG, part of the "Tara watches movies and sees pilots" series
Date: 2012-12-24 05:25 am (UTC)Lee refuses to look at Kara next to him. He won't. He's not.
He does.
Her eyes are already on him, a question in them, as she toys with the silver engagement band on her thumb. Lee takes a deep breath, and looks past her, at his brother, who stares obliviously at the screen on Kara's other side.
As the captain starts to sing about how he must have done something good in his youth or childhood, Kara shoots forward and snags the remote, clicking the TV off.
"Hey, what's the--" Zak's voice breaks off as he watches Kara slide off the couch and twist around, perching on the edge of the coffee table to face both brothers. She pulls the band off her thumb and places it on the polished wooden surface next to the remote.
"We have to talk," she says quietly, and her eyes shift to Lee.
His heart is beating triple-time at her words, so hard he thinks it might burst out of his chest. They didn't plan this. But the guilt has been eating at him, at both of them, since that first night. And all the other stolen moments since. They love Zak and don't want to hurt him, but they can't keep their hands off each other. And it's not just lust. This thing, this crazy unspeakable electric thing between them, it's only gotten more intense with every passing day. He hasn't said the words out loud yet, because he's pretty sure Kara's not ready to hear them, but he knows it's love.
Kara's waiting, still looking towards him, and Zak turns too now, confusion on his face. Lee's heart clenches in fear and anticipation, but he nods, a stiff slight shake of his head, and his eyes hold Kara's. Slowly, she reaches forward, picks up his hand and laces her fingers through his. Lee's eyes flutter shut for a second and then he turns to his brother. He feels Kara's hand squeezing his, giving him strength to say the words.
"Zak, we have something to tell you."

From:Mistletoe, PG-13
Date: 2012-12-24 03:13 pm (UTC)That night is the first time they’ve met and Kara’s shy at first, joining Zak and the Adamas at his great-uncle’s cabin in the mountains for Christmas. She and Lee laugh and talk into the night, alight with connection. She doesn’t understand yet, isn’t even trying to, but it’s a high like she’s never known. Just before dawn, long after Zak has fallen asleep on the couch, they find themselves standing at the window watching the snow fall. Lee looks up at the mistletoe Zak put up earlier and shakes his head.
“Afraid of a little tradition?” Kara teases.

Drabble: Caprica Museum
Date: 2012-12-31 06:00 pm (UTC)____________________________
'It's not letting up anytime soon.'
Looking at the stormy sky outside the windows of Caprica Museum, Lee was forced to agree with her. Getting caught in a shower on their way back to Kara's from their latest pub crawl had been bad enough, but coupled with Kara's impulsive decision to walk home (Zak - the only one of them still sober enough to drive - had taken Kara's car keys) it meant they were stuck inside for however long the rain took to stop, if they didn't want to get pneumonia.
"You got any ideas to pass the time, Lee?" She jostled him playfully, eyes sparkling, hair still damp from the rain, and it was all Lee could do not to answer that question in ways that should have been banished from his mind after the first night they'd met.
"Kara, you're the ancient history buff, not me." He looked outside again, breath catching only slightly as Kara leaned against him and rested her chin on his shoulder. If he hadn't been so distracted, the smirk on her face would have been the giveaway -
"Wanna check out the Arrow of Apollo?"
