What if pilots were..........unshippable?

This post is brought to you by way too many melodramatic kdramas and the fact that a brief look through my bookshelf/certain folders on my computer this week turned up an oddly high number of books that involved abnormally close/incestuous sibling relationships (The Dreamers, for a start), and it led me to thinking.......
what if Kara and Lee were actual siblings?
We know and love their quasi-sibling relationship, it's just one of the many ways they connect, but if their personalities and the way they were around each other stayed the same (with or without their knowledge of the relationship).....what would you feel about them as siblings? Would you be able to ship them at all?

siblings ?
PS: Meta Monday is still running, so if you have something to share, please do!

I also think that then any kind of romantic/sexual scene between them would boil down to always being about the wrongness and the incest, which would probably detract from all the other complicated levels they operate on, if that makes sense. And it would be even less possible to imagine a bright shiny future for them. :( But, really it depends on how it played out.
My inclination is to say that I loved their relationship exactly as it was, painful, thorny, problematic, and all...and I wouldn't want to change it in any way with the exception of their last five minutes. ;)

Pilots don't need any more barriers put in their way, and I wouldn't change anything except that last conversation/the poof - in fact if the scene had ended at them just standing together in the field after PapAdama's Raptor took off even that would have been better than what we got. (ok, I might have shaken my fist at the screen howling ' Y U NO SHOW ME THEM MAKING OUTTTT?!?!!!!!!!!' but that'd still >>>>>>>>> poof)

Date: 2012-10-23 09:18 pm (UTC)I think though that I would still love their relationship. The teasing, the mom and dad taking charge of the pilots, the hyper-competent soldiers, the kids who complain to/about Dad, the two sides of the same coin thing. All of those bits would still be super awesome. Assuming they didn't find out they were siblings until later in life I could even do with some uncomfortable attraction.
I'm wondering though if they're siblings is Bill father to both of them? Is he Zak's father as well? Does the whole back story change? If Kara was dating Zak and had met Lee (had the whole table thing) and then found out she was related to both of them. Maybe even Bill didn't say anything because by the time he realized Kara & Zak were together Zak was dead but then the end of the world happened and he saw Kara and Lee start throwing off sparks and figured he'd better 'fess up.
I don't know. I think it takes it in an odd direction that would end up melodramatic. Like the end of the world wasn't enough for the characters to deal with.

If they weren't raised together/didn't know about it, it's more of a possibility, but still, they've got enough problems on their plate without being secretly related too. But I like the idea of Bill actually being aware of it if they were, and fighting himself over how/what to tell them, instead of remaining purposely oblivious.
